RE: Went to a Blue Beacon, now it looks terrible

That's terrible. Can you smear it with your finger? Nope. You have to use something that will cut it like the cleaner/wax I am using. Lesson learned...

Went to a Blue Beacon, now it looks terrible

I got lazy and took our RV to Blue Beacon. I had them wash it and then hand dry it. Seemed like a fair deal and the trucks looked really sharp that were pulling out after they were done. I sat and watched them wash it and dry it. While it looked good from 15 feet away, up close it looks terrible. If I had to guess, I would say whatever cleaning agent they used left some really bad etching in my gel coat. I noticed it when I got home and started wiping off drips from the drive home. Now I am out with Maguire's cleaner/wax and the orbital polisher. It is brutal getting this out. Anyone else have this happen? Any tips on getting it cleaned up before I attack the other side? Hopefully you can see what I am talking about http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/mwills7/RVStreaks.jpgin the pic.

RE: Do you put table lamp on steering wheel for all to see?

We have a table over the steering wheel where we proudly display our "Leg Lamp" (from the movie The Christmas Story). It's a major award, you know... Be careful!! Those things a frag-ee-lay!

RE: Arizona Bound

AZ resident here too. As stated above, weather will be your challenge in getting from point A to B. Once you arrive to central and southern AZ, it will be perfect. However, northern AZ in the winter actually has weather! I would think the passes getting in and out of Denver could very well be a challenge that time of year too. Best case scenario you travel between storms and roads are perfect but it is cold. Worst case - miserable driving conditions.

RE: Window Tinting

Ours are tinted pretty dark. On the side window by the driver the tint is only on the top 8" or so. There is a big difference in temp if you put your hand in front of the tint compared to the plain glass. We haven't has any issues with seals or anything else. I just wish I could do the whole windshield for those times we are driving into the sun! :-)

RE: If money were no object...

I would complete the build of my Silver Classic Winnebago, but I would remodel the entire inside with state-of-the-art interior features. From the outside it would look like 1973, but from the inside it would look like you are in a luxury RV. I would also add a sound proof "parents only" compartment, lol. I would do something very similar. Restore a classic RV with a modern drive train and amenities. Just in case, probably buy a nice little Prevost too. :B

RE: Palm Springs for Thanksgiving weekend

Emerald Desert in Palm Desert. RV Park Reviews Thanks but as I stated, we need family friendly. Does look nice, however.

RE: Palm Springs for Thanksgiving weekend

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I checked into the Lake Cahuilla park. It looks like it is more for campers. While we love camping, we prefer the parks that cater to the RV crowd. Motor Coach Country Club looks awesome but our friends would not be able to get in as their coach is over 10 years old. A quick question....what is "PA rate"?

Palm Springs for Thanksgiving weekend

Hey guys, I know another poster just asked about the Palm Springs area. I looked through that thread and didn't quite find what I was looking for so I thought I would ask stating our specific needs. We will be in the area for Thanksgiving weekend. We are looking for a nice place that offers full hook-ups, amenities, family friendly and no age restrictions on the RV. We have stayed at Outdoor Resorts and loved it but our friends have a Class A that is too old for their requirements. We will be in 38' and 32' Class A's What would you recommend in the Palm Springs area? Thanks in advance.

RE: RV Parking at Palm Springs CA

Another vote here for Outdoor Resorts. Beautiful place and no wind worries. One of our favorite parks.

RE: PLEASE RESPOND if you've posted here in the past few weeks

I frequent several boards, this one is the most difficult to find where you have previously posted. Often I can't find a thread where I have previously posted. Maybe I am missing something. I do not use the subscribed threads because I get enough emails. Perhaps an icon indication would help, at least thats what other forums use. They mostly use VBbulletin ware, if I remember correctly. Bullies? Really? People are put off by a Dim Bulb with an internet connection? Just subscribe to it so you see the replies. Once you get an answer, unsubscribe. So you'll get a few emails but hopefully they will all be of some help to a problem you are trying to solve. I would think you would want those. :-)

RE: Mice damange

We stick with the black plastic ones mentioned above around the motor home. We just use peanut butter. We also put bait stations around as well. We have roof rats that just love our citrus trees and the warmth under our jacuzzi. I notice if I get lazy and stop putting out traps and bait stations that I start to notice droppings. I get back on the ball and I usually catch one or two and the bait stations get used. Usually within a week, no more droppings. I say just stay on top of them and you should be fine.

RE: My Fantasy Remodel

We have couches that are opposite of each other in the front. Somewhat overkill on couch seating. I would like to remove the smaller loveseat and replace it with a nice recliner and add a small additional cabinet with a table top. That would allow us to turn the front passenger seat around and have the cabinet between it and the new recliner. It would pretty easy to do in ours but I'll probably leave it as is...chalk it up to lack of motivation.

RE: Wine Storage

........I'm surprised that so many are willing to store decent wine there in when it is hot outside. I gotta think that even the basements that stay "cool" will still get up or over 90 degrees. Not the place for wine IMHO....... There is no way that the basement gets over 90 degrees in ours. I am always amazed when I open a bay to get some bottled water, or cans of pop, at how cool everything is. Usually in the upper 60s during summer, low 50s in the winter. 100 gallons of water is a pretty significant thermal mass that will absorb and release heat slowly as needed. Not to mention all of the other things that absorb the heat next to the door. Maybe you don't have pass-through bays where you can get things to the center of the coach? Barb Barb, are you really suggesting that if you are traveling in 100 degree temperatures that your storage bays stay in the upper 60's in the summer?? Other than the inside of your fridge, there can't be anywhere on your coach that cool. I can't cool the inside of the coach down to the 60's in the heat of the summer, let alone the storage bays. Now C'mon.... :R

RE: Need some Guidence about buying Sportscoach Elite

FWIW, we have a Coachmen Cross Country by Sportscoach. Which I believe is a step down in the Sports Coach line in finishes compared to what you are looking at. We have similar miles now and the coach has performed flawlessly. It sounds like that if the previous owner didn't take very good care of the inside of the coach, that they probably weren't very diligent with the care and maintenance of the engine/outside. I would say that an inspection at a Freightliner dealer would be prudent. If it checks out ok, clean it up and hit the road! :-)

RE: Wine Storage

We just did a Paso Robles/Santa Ynez wine trip this summer. Driving to and from the Phoenix area. In July, that was 113 degree temps going across the desert. Putting the wine we bought in the basement was not an option. I'm surprised that so many are willing to store decent wine there in when it is hot outside. I gotta think that even the basements that stay "cool" will still get up or over 90 degrees. Not the place for wine IMHO. Since you don't have a cooler, I would say find an out of the way place inside until you get home. That is what we did. If it is temporary, it shouldn't be a big deal.

RE: Is 39 ft. too long?

Ours is 38'. 58' when towing the Suburban. Our next one will be 42' minimum. Just depends on your needs and your comfort zone.

RE: Easy Walk Harness

We have the easy walk harness for both our dogs and they work great. Like most things....the key is getting it on correctly. Once we got them adjusted they work great for both walks and having them leashed up outside. With the leash hooking on the chest instead of their back, they really don't try and pull at all. Our 11 year old daughter can easily walk our 95lb dog with the leash being loose only giving a subtle pull when he gets too excited.

RE: OMG...I need some direction

Hey Susan, We live in Scottsdale as well, welcome! We rented for about four years before we determined that we were hitting the road often enough that buying one made sense. We rented everything from a Class C, Super C and and finally a 40' diesel pusher. After renting the diesel pusher, there were not any further conversations as to what we wanted. With a budget of $50k, you can get a pretty nice, entry level DP. We had the same budget and ended up with our unit. It serves us very well for now. I think as we get older and can spend more and more time on the road we will upgrade but for now our coach serves our purpose perfectly. We always rented from OwnersrentalRV.com. It is a group of private owners that throw their RV's in a rental pool. This is good for two reasons. One, there is a wide range of RV's to choose from. Two, you don't have one of the 1-800# covered RV's! You might consider going that route to see what you really need. Hope that helps a little!
