RE: Air Ride

My HWH auto leveling control panel has a light labeled "Travel". That comes on when the coach is at travel height!
My air pressure builds up to about 125 PSI before dumping excess. :B

RE: Carefree awning fabric

I called a bunch of dealers. So far, RVUpgrades.com has the best price. Still waiting for more prices. Thanks!

RE: Carefree awning fabric

I would recommend Tough Top Awnings. http://toughtopawnings.com/
I did research on replacement for Dometic, and another Company and found that the Tough Top Awnings were heavier, than original, vinyl and easier to clean and less costs. Some install choose to DYI, but I chose to have Precision Painting, where I was having some other service done handle the installation. I have had them for two years and very pleased, easy to clean, vs. the acrylic O.E. slide Toppers and a thicker material. I dealt with
Tough Top Awnings
Ray Oberreuter
Phone: 480-773-2978
email: ray@toughtopawnings.com
and very satisfied with their service, etc.
I checked with these folks but found two problems. First, they only have vinyl material, not the acrylic. I think the acrylic should last much longer without cracking. Secondly, they don't make the slide topper awnings with the scalloped valance on the bottom.
Thanks anyway! :B

RE: eternabond tape

You don't need to remove old caulk. Just clean it good with Acetone or alcohol and let it dry before applying the Eternabond. :)

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor

Another vote for TireTraker. Batteries in sensors can be easily replaced. Easy to program. Only negative thing I've found is that the monitor does not read the same pressure as my trucker's tire gauge, but it really doesn't matter because its the change that's important!

RE: Low bridge Duck.

I bought that program for a TomTom GPS some time back. The big problem then, and they could have corrected it since, is that it will warn you of low clearances ANYWHERE within the distance you set, even if the low clearance is on another road or street, not just on the road you are traveling! This is very annoying if you're on an interstate going through a big city! :S

RE: What is the best Tow/Brake set up for a Towed Vehicle?

Another vote for the ReadyBrute Elite towbars with built-in ReadyBrake along with the ReadyStop breakaway system. Simple, effective, economical. Can't beat that combination!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless! :B

RE: Towing... what is the cost????

I don't think my MH even knows the toad is back there! I've never checked the fuel mileage with and without the toad, but I don't think it could be making much difference.
We went with the ReadyBrute towbars with built-in ReadyBrake and saved hundreds of dollars over other products I looked at.
My total cost to get set up for towing was $2032. That included the tow bars, supplemental braking, base plate, toad wiring kit, and complete installation.
I would definitely recommend getting set up for towing instead of renting a car. If you do much traveling the cost of car rental would soon pay for the towing setup and I would NOT want to have the hassle of car rental!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless! :B

RE: A little scary

It may not be a problem with the MH at all. When we bought our MH last year my wife and I brought it back from Montgomery, AL. I was driving and she was the co-pilot. She was terrified all the way back! She was constantly screaming that I was running off the road! I have to admit that I did get over on the warning track a few times while I got used to the width of the MH.
After a year she has finally gotten comfortable with it, but it took a long time!
Don't give up, you'll make it!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless! :B

It's a sad day.....

A few years ago we met two wonderful people at the local campground, Joe & Betty Clark. They are the kind of folks that you just like instantly. We camped with them many times and learned to love them as if they were family. We didn't get to see them as often as we would have liked since they lived about 100 miles from us, but we kept in touch by phone.
A year or so ago they found out that Betty had a malignant brain tumor. She went through many months of chemo and radiation, and it seemed the cancer was in remission for a while. Joe called me this morning and gave me the heart-breaking news that the cancer had returned and there was no hope for recovery. The doctors gave them the choice of additional treatment that might extend her life for a short time, or hospice. She immediately chose hospice. Joe did not ask the doctors how much time she has. He preferred not to know.
I know without a doubt that Betty is ready to meet her Lord, so that is not an issue. I ask you to pray for Joe and Betty as they go through this difficult time. I hope that Joe will keep his 5th wheel and continue to camp after all this is over. He & Betty love camping so much.
Thank you for lifting up this special couple in your prayers!

RE: Please help me find new recliners!

Hey folks. Never mind! I have figured out a way to dis-assemble the chairs in the 5er!
After looking at prices on the recliners available I decided to take another look at moving them. I believe I have figured out how to do it, but if I get in a bind I will call the upholstery shop to bail me out. Even if I have to do that it will be a LOT less money than replacing them!
Thanks anyway! :B

RE: Please help me find new recliners!

I forgot to mention that the reason she does not like the Euro recliners is lack of lumbar support, so anything we look at MUST have good lumbar support!

RE: Please help me find new recliners!

Have you tried to remove chair backs. Most recliners have a removable back.
That was my first thought, but the way the leather is installed ruled that out for me.

Please help me find new recliners!

We have the "Euro" style swivel recliners in the MH and my DW does not like them. We have the traditional style swivel rocker/recliners in the 5th wheel which we have not sold. I was going to take those out of the 5er and put them in the MH but found that it was impossible to get them out the door of the 5er without disassembling them. They were either put in the 5er before the kitchen cabinets were installed, OR the recliners were assembled in the 5er. To disassemble them would require upholstery work that I won't attempt to do.
The way I figure it is that I have two choices. I can hire an upholstery shop to come and disassemble them, move them to the MH, then re-assemble them. OR I can buy new recliners for the MH!
I think I have seen posts where folks used residential type recliners in RVs instead of the the ones made specifically for RVs. LazyBoy comes to mind. It seems to me the main problem is size. The recliners that she likes in the 5er are 34" wide at the widest point. The recliners in the MH are only 29" wide. There is a fold-down table between them and I could not use anything wider and still use the table. We can fold the table back against the wall and use some in the range of 35" wide. I would really like to keep the use of the table but I gotta get her happy!
Can anyone give me some suggestions on what you have used, including brands and model numbers if possible? I really appreciate any suggestions you may have! :B

RE: Tow bars

I checked my bay door locks and the CH751 key will not open them! Thank goodness! Monaco tells me that the regular entry door key (not the deadbolt) opens the bay locks. The previous owner did not have that key. I use the outside keypad to lock the bay doors and the deadbolt to lock the entry door. I am going to remove one of the bay locks and take it to a locksmith who tells me he can make a key to fit all of them. :B
