RE: I think I'll try 91 octane in my V-10

I have always used the recommended 87 octane fuel in my vehicles, however, my '04 Ford F53 with V10 engine has always had a very noisy engine when pulling hills at RPMs above 3,000. The noise sometimes comes and goes as if the computer is making drastic changes to the fuel mixture and/or ignition timing. I can make the noise go away by slightly letting up on the throttle. Recently, a fellow rver told me that he gets consistently better gas mileage by using higher octane fuel in his '09 V10. The difference is more than enough to make up for the increased cost. I tried a tank full of 89 octane on the way back south from Las Vegas last month and the engine did seem quieter on the long grades on I15, and I did arrive home with more fuel than normal. I know that 1 tank is not enough experience for a conclusion. Has anyone else had any results from using higher octane fuel?
I'm not sure about where you are but here in Massachusetts the difference between regular and premium is almost 30 cents a gallon so any gain you might get in mileage would be lost on price. Also I would think (and I could be wrong) that if your engine is tuned for 87 than anything above that would not burn right and actually increase knocking.

RE: Cambria/Aspect

Never had a problem with mine. Handles great and most times I can drive it with one hand. I have made no handling, suspension, or steering modifications.

RE: Truck System Tech. TST systems- Satisfied Customers

I love mine, it is right up there with my SurgeGuard as the best purchases for my rv. I do lose communication with the toad at times but all that means is I need to buy the repeater.

RE: Picture of tightest campsite

On our very first trip with the Cambria at a Good Sam park on Cape Cod our living room slide was over the patio area of a seasonal work camper site. The sites were normal size but the seasonal work campers had taken great liberties in setting up their seasonal site and had site creeped into the site we used. When they complained about our slide in their patio area I showed them the site line markers and stated that the patio area they put in was actually on our site. They did not get to use the patio for the week we were there and to their credit they did not complain again.

Anybody ever check into this?
I sent them an email. I'll repost when I get a response. One of my favorite hobbies is playing with scammers. I just sent the email and if it follows the track of all the others I won't get a response until about 3am.

RE: RV Park treats guests with total disrespect

Hi, I just wanted to warn anyone who hates being treated like someone else's child. Just part of my wonderful experience at Malibu Beach RV Park.
" So, here I am. It's 9am and I let my dog out to pee. She's a great dog, she's does her thing as she's is within 6' from me when PAUL comes marching out of the office literally raising his voice on how my dog shouldn't be doing this shouldn't be doing this, and quite loud. I agree my dog should have leashed. What really just flipped me out was this guys attitude. I am not Pauls child. I went into the office, looked at Paul and said " your attitude is rude dude." A simple "your dog needs to be leashed", would have sufficed.
I would never have written tbis but, every time I do go into the office to buy something (buy the way is so exspensive) the entire staff gives you the feeling your bothering them. I've been to dozens of RV parks and have never been treated so rudely. I wouldn't recommend this park to my Mother - law."
Being a dog owner who does bring his dogs camping I would have to say the you are the one who was in the wrong here. If you don't want to be treated like a child then don't act like one. The rule for having a dog leashed is for everyone including you. It is people like you who give the rest of us dog owners a bad name. Stop crying and follow the park owners rules or don't go there.

RE: Srsly, still no good wireless back up cameras?

Hi Todd
Hi, I have this problem with a blind spot on the right side at angled intersections as well. Do you have a picture of where you put it or more description. I'll look it up on Amazon.
Thanks to all for your help.
I just have it mounted at about the center of the dash with the camera pointed at about the b pillar and the monitor facing me. You have multiple adjustments for both the camera and the monitor. I rechecked Amazon yesterday and they had it for $28. You can also find videos for it on youtube.

RE: Srsly, still no good wireless back up cameras?

Wow, thanks for the iBall tip! It doesn't mention in the Amazon ad that it uses just a 9V battery, and that is hugely important - no wiring to vehicle power needed.
I am very happy with the $100 wireless backup camera I bought several years ago. I mounted it inside, looking out from the top of the back window so I had less trouble with wiring and a better signal line-of-sight to the dashboard.
However, I would like another camera to kill the blind spot to the right when approaching an intersection at an angle. This iBall sounds pretty good. It is $200 on the Canadian Amazon though. Ouch.
Hi Harvey51,
I had the same problem with being blind on the right side at angled intersections so I found this SainSpeed F198 Car Dash DVR With Night Vision, Microphone Built In, 2.5" Rotatable and Foldable TFT LCD Screen display at Amazon.com for around $35 US. I call it my Co-pilot camera. You do need to supply an SD micro card to have constant video. Set up takes less than five minutes and it is very easy to use.

RE: will pancake compressor fill MH tires?

If the going is really slow, take care to not cook the compressor. You may have to the air up in stages with cool down period between filling times.
That is what I like about the VAir 450P. Auto shut off, 100% duty cycle rated at 1.66 scfm and still .94 scfm at 90 psi. Compressor good for 150 psi. However, they are not cheap.
X2 on the VIAIR. I have the 440PRV. It is light, quite, fast, heavy duty, and came with every thing you need all in a nice fitted canvas case that fits easily in to a small storage bay. It was not cheap but it is very well made.

RE: New European Motorhomes

I too noticed the lack of ground clearance, but I'm more concerned with high centering and tail drag. Has anyone had any hands on experience with one? Is there a dealer anywhere in the West or Pacific Coast? Nice looking.
I didn't think of that. The Cracker Barrel I pulled into yesterday would have torn the back end off.

Almost no ground clearance at all. A good sized USA pothole would cause a lot of damage.

RE: From MA to NJ

Couple of possibilities. Take the Pike to Sturbridge and follow 84 all the way to the Thruway (87) near Newburgh, NY then south to 287 to the Turnpike. In my opinon that is the easiest even though it is the longest. The other is Pike, 84 to 684 south, to 287, cross the Tappan Zee Bridge and follow the sign for the NJ Turnpike. A little shorter - more traffic. Done both with my 34' class a.
Both keep you out of NYC and the dreaded George Washington Bridge.
X2-this is our usual southern route.

RE: I bought a lemon and need some help

I am sorry for the grammar and I fixed it the best I could. I also appreciate all the feed back. I basically knew what I was getting into fiancially and that wasn't the issue, although I wish I could have done better. The problem was all the things that have gone wrong with a new rv amd not being able to use it. Nobody likes paying for something and not being able to use it. Sorry if I got anybody angry, I just thought someone might know something that I didn't. I mentioned four years, I should have said I've been dealing with this for four years. It's just this last episode kinda put me over the edge. Yes I am a new member and thought that this was going to ASK MARCUS. Also I didn't know about this site, I was told by camping world in hamburg ny to go here and maybe get some help. Thank you again for everyone who tried to help.
My apologies for implying you were a "troll". Your original post followed by pages of replies with out a repost sometimes means a troll. Again I offer my apology.
