RE: Load Range C less that P tires?

I can't believe that there is much diff in mpg for an E rated tire. Yes heavier and maybe more aggressive depending on tire choice. In my 150 with EB I haven't notice a diff in power or mpg when I went from the P rated GY wrangler SRA junk that it came with to the Falken rocky mountain ats from discount. They are heavy but I like a solid tire towing and not worrying about the flats. I was willing and still am to see a slight drop in mpg for what I see as safety and security. When not towing I don't see much of a ride diff and I also added Rancho 9000 shocks with the adjustable range of soft to stiff with 9 settings. Mine are set at the stiffest and my psi is 45 not towing

RE: 2012 F150 GVWR

I'm from the old school you may not be able to change the sticker but you sure can do things to help yourself towing I don't agree with the comment made that people who buy 1/2 tons are newbies or it's there first truck I've had 2 3/4 tons and 5 1/2 tons and even my previous 1/2 ton was better than my older 3/4 ton in towing and payload. I would like to have the HD F150 but they don't have it in the FX 4 if I want that model then I know I need to go 3/4 ton. My last 2009 Fx 4 F250 with 5.4 was I hate to say it a pig that couldn't get out of it's own way. I'd rather be over in payload than feel like I was under powered going up a hill

RE: Getting a new truck.

Congrats on your new truck I bet you love it and that's comming from a ford . You could of bought a 150 hd and towed the side of a mountain faster than semi. Just playn but I love everybody's opinions again congrats I hope you get yourself a fiver in the near future and enjoy our great countryside

RE: E, LT or P Rated Tires for my 1/2 Ton?

I guess I'm out of the norm here but I would buy E rated tires if I was replacing tires even on a half ton. Even with a 5-6k trailer plus tongue weight and a few things in the bed you get way less sidewall flex with the 10 ply tire.

RE: 12 volt issue

If the breaker looks like this it might or might not have a reset button… if there is no button it resets itself when it cools… if it don’t reset it will need replaced… It should have 12v in on one post and 12v out on the other post… Make sure the battery polarity is right… http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/jjbirish_photos/circiutbreaker.jpg width=100 This is what I have. The battery is hooked up rt and there are no loose grounds anywhere so maybe I will replace this part. I'm going to try at least. I didn't feel any button to reset on it so maybe it is internal

12 volt issue

I have an issue with the battery and 12 volt. When plugged in the 12 volt works but when unplugged nothing. I have an extra battery and both are fully charged. The fuse off the positive is good as well. The only other thing is that little silver box under the trailer from what I understand this is sort of a fuse in a way. Help me figure what it could be it worked weds and not thurs. I changed to the main battery thought it was dead so went back to the backup and nothing. Hope this is enough info. Joe

RE: Ford ecoboost advice please

You will be fine with what you tow and the truck you are looking at. You will be amazed at its tow ability. I love it and as many have said towing is very comfortable. IMO you don't need the HD option

RE: Tow Vehical Recomendation

I tow almost the same trailer with my EB and it is amazing. Seldom downshifts and has a tremendous amount of trq at low rpm. Climbing smaller grades if you'd like you can increase speed. My buddy drives a 02 f350 PS and couldn't believe how well the EB did and we have virtually the same TT. Good luck

RE: Will my 2010 F150 tow it?

IMO you could do this regularly but others may disagree but one time will not be an issue at all

RE: New Ford F 150 with 5 liter V8

I'm not interested in the EPA's estimates. I've spent hours reading reviews that mostly report bettering the EPA ratings for "gas" fueled economy. I've also read “a” review that stated the use of premium fuel also increased MPG enough to justify the added cost. I have also read “a” review that stated more HP and TQ using E85. The EPA has caused me plenty of problems, I trust butts in the seat. I was hoping to hear from some butts regarding the use of E85 in a truck they actually own and drive regularly, that being a 2011 F150 crew cab 4X4 with the 5.0 engine! I will tell you rt now that the other persons comment of 75% is pretty close to dead on in the real world I have had 2 flex fuel F150s and the mileage is so bad using E85 that it better be at least 22-25% less in cost to even break even and I believe in the manual it tells you to run a clean regular tank of gas at least every 3000 miles. The only people I know who ever put it in there vehicles of any type are environmentally conscious folks and don't get me started on this because it takes up a lot of CRP land and other stuff that we consider environmental. It is a waste of money until the automakers can get premium mileage out of it. I know at one point it was costing around 6 bucks a gallon to make and the government was covering the cost of the loss which in turn means somehow somewhere we are paying for it. Your question of seat of pants you will not feel the supposive HP gain but your wallet will get lighter faster using E85 Thanks! Were yours the new 5.0 or previous models? Mine were 5.4 but this holds pretty true for all E85 vehicles that I know and it surely is true for the 5.0 as well. Go to F150forum and I'm sure there is all kind of info there. I went to the EB now it can't run E85 but if it could I wouldn't

RE: Starting the replacement truck search

Get the Ecoboost with max tow and you can take that trailer anywhere you want to. If you can pull the trigger quicker for the truck now is a great time. Good rebates and they are done making 2012 and the 13 will be showing up soon so dealers want the 12s off the lot

RE: ford f150 ecoboost tires

The tires ford puts on are junk but help withe Mpgs rating as they have less resistance. My FX4 came with wrangler Sras which are a highway tire very silly when I bought a truck with the off road package. I have been looking hard at new tires as someone stated pulling a fairly heavy load you get a lot of roll. The pirellis are just as bad and stink in the snow. I was told the best tire is the Michelin AT 2 by the discount tire guy I deal with and trust. It does not have the aggressive look I want so I'm leaning towards the GY duratrac or the BFG AT/KO. This is the order of his recommendation as well the GY and Michelin are priced around the same which are expensive the BFG is about 175 less for a set of 4. Good luck

RE: 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton trucks

All I know is there are a lot of people towing 29 ft 5vers withe the Eco max tow and are extremely happy. The performance as far as towing is excellent according to these people and they are extremely happy with it as there daily driver.now if he was buying strictly a tow vehicle and money isn't an option then he could go for a larger 3/4 or 1 ton IMO go to f150 forum and look up towing fifth wheel and there are numerous post over 300 with a lot of info that may help you with your next truck choice

RE: New Ford F 150 with 5 liter V8

Wow, I posted because I thought this thread was about the 5.0. I must of been mistaken. He actually asked about both and was wondering why there were so many people and post w the EB. And not as many 5.0 probably trying to weigh his options that are out there as well as real world experience unless I'm mistaken and if so I will stand corrected.

RE: New Ford F 150 with 5 liter V8

The same guy who posted all his problems with the EB did so on the forum and I believe the shudder is for some an F150 problem. Some guys on the forum got fed up and started a post to talk about as many have said here problem free miles since ownership. Also the Eco has been out longer in the sho and flex with minor tweaks to go into the 150. Mine is also problem free and as I stated before an amazing tow vehicle. The 5.0 is also an excellent motor they are just diff. I chose the boost for better more comfortable towing lower rpm torque and less shifting. Its all personal preference the 5.0 will get the job done as well. Go test them both out and choose what you like as the feel fits you but DON'T let a few things you here make your decision for you. I have several friends who work at diff dealers in the service dept and they never see Eco in unless they need an oil change. Now don't get me wrong I'm sure there are issues with any vehicle on the road. My friends 5.0 blew up, threw a rod with under 10000 miles does that mean the 5.0 is junk, NO it means he got a bad motor and they replaced it with one in the crate. As far as being a die hard V8 guy my brother in law would never touch anything else and starts trying to make every V8 he buys stronger the day he gets it home. He spent a lot of money moding his 5.4 and it runs well. A month or so back he was going to get the 6.2 and has been looking and thinking then he got in my boost and has ask to drive it probably 5 times cuz he can't believe it and each time he has a bigger smile on his face. Needless to say he picks up his new FX4 tonight from the dealer and it is an Ecoboost. Sorry to ramble on but Ford has 4 engine choices and all seem to be very good at this point. As I stated it is ultimately your choice but there is a reason so many people are towing TT and 5vers with the Eco and I believe this is why you read so much about it

It's going to pull it well beyond your expectations I know mine did the first time I pulled the TT 28 ft 7500 loaded with about 700lb tongue

RE: New Ford F 150 with 5 liter V8

Once you tow with the EB you would see he big difference and never turn back because it doesn't have the v8 sound as far as mpg they are fairly close but as someone stated the tq curve hits at low rpm and pulls hard from there of corse it is just my opinion but I traded my 2010 5.4 for the EB and it is a huge upgrade in every way

RE: F150 vs GM 1500 vs Tundra vs Titan

Get the EB there are a lot of nice trucks out there but in the 1/2 ton market you can get a beast max tow EB and then when not towing get good mileage for a full size. It's a diff animal. The 3/4 ton gasser are nice but the mpg suck not towing and with the payloads of the Ford 1/2 ton max tow and if you need max payload package as well.i haven't came across a person towing a TT that has complained about their Ecoboost
