RE: Olympic Natl Park Info

Everything previously mentioned plus a trip to La Push. If you have anyone who is into Twilight vampires then a stop in Forks. We also like the drive along the Hood canal.

RE: Found this beautiful dog in Monument Valley need help

Maybe a phone call to Best Friends ("Dogtown") in Kenab, UT. might be helpful. We are planning our first visit there after we leave Vegas in May.

RE: Any guiding principles on parking a 43' DP?

When we were in the fire department we had a couple of rules. Never back up when you don't have to AND if you do back up there is no reason to have people sitting in the truck. We have take that to the motor home. I am very comfortable using mirrors and camera but there is no excuse if I hit anything when I could have had a spotter. Even if she just stands there DW considers it part of her duties as the co-pilot.

RE: Etiquette query......

I follow the Golden Rule also. "Never spit up wind of a Bos'en" . Just be aware of wind direction. I think you are better then half way there in being considerate if you are even asking the question.

As compared to what? Public schools? Movie Theatres? College campuses? Japanese nuclear plants? I think safety is a state of mind rather then a location?

You can always go elsewhere. That is the beauty of a free market economy. How would you feel about an investment you made not making all they could for you?

RE: broke down looking for ideas

You must have tried to call your local Frieghtliner. The 1-800-FTL-H E L P number for Gaffney is a 24/7, 365 day help line. Leave a message if they don't answer right away. They pride themselves on being 100% on their call backs.

RE: Camping between Portland & Seattle?

Midway RV Park in Centralia is 1/2 way. Thus the name. There is also Grand Mound RV Park in Rochester. Also, Lucky Eagle Casino has a brand new RV park. I have not stayed at the latter. Just driven by it.

RE: How did you purge?

For us we spent quite a bit of time convincing ourselves it is just stuff. The memories are in our heads and will stay with us as long as we remember them. Then things like photos, trophies , plaques , etc were digitized. We called a local commercial shredder and go two locked bins for papers that needed shredding. Then they came and shredded it in our driveway. We considered a storage unit but after researching decided against it. Keep sakes that we couldn't part with were put into plastic bins and stored in my sister's basement. It is affectionately referred to as the P.O.S. (pile of s***, I mean stuff). Offered my guns to my best buddy. Which he bought. Then had professional estate sales people come in. They had two sales. One for the house and one for the shop. We had deep discounted pre sales for our friends. Did not make estate people happy as they work off a %. What they didn't sell they donated to charity and left the house and shop "broom" clean. Some stuff they took back to their consignment store and we were getting checks almost a year later.

RE: Campgrounds near Philadelphia

I have stayed at BOTH many times while visiting family. I choose the park based on direction I am coming from and where I am going after. Timberlane you have to deal with traffic Jersey traffic. I found the Walt Whitman crossing better then Chester bridge (then 95) or Ben Franklin though all have their advantages based where you are headed. West Chester KOA I found better for longer term stays. I had more difficulty driving into center city from there but better access to N.E. Philly. Also can visit Lancaster etc from there when you are not heading into the city.
Feel free to private message me for specifics and if you want details.

RE: This will sound like a strange post but is this normal?

There are several owners groups out there depending on the make of your RV. Local chapters of these organization are a great way to share information and they usually have planned outings. There is also Good Sam Samborees, FMCA, and Escapees that you should check.

RE: How is this going to affect yuor full timing?

Not one bit. Have been retired 11 years now and it was all taken care of in "The Plan" as we called it. Of course I started planning for my retirement at age 28 so it was easy when my company said anyone 50 or older who wants their retirement can have it. My hand went up so fast my shoulder still hurts.

RE: WiFi at campsites....

The question is how much would you be willing to pay for the Internet speeds you desire? I assume you don't have free Internet at home so why should RV parks provide it at the parks? Most supply it as a hook to get people into their place so that travelers can stay in touch with their e mail. Nothing more.

RE: Cat C-7 temp level

Mine runs pretty much rock steady @ 192 to maybe 194. I would not consider 1 qt. of oil for 3500 miles is NOT good . It should be more 1 qt every 10k miles. Check your breathr tube for blow by and radiator and CAC for clean.
