RE: Our new camping spot

Looks like you've done all the research for zoning and permits. I say, go for it! Ten bucks a day sounds reasonable, though 7 or 8 sounds better. I would NOT provide a porta potty. Too much of a PITA. Post signs of your rules. How will you collect the camping fee? Pay box with envelopes? Too bad the parking site wasn't big enough for two, eh? BTW, where exactly is this site? I lived in Bellingham for 3 years so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Got up on the roof and cleaned the solar panels, skylight, and vents. Wow, they sure were dirty. I also gave the camper a good washing and waxing. Now stocking up for the Overland Expo this weekend.

RE: Off-road capable RVs

You've gotten great feedback thus far. A 4x4 Truck Camper, 4x4 Tiger Class C, or 4x4 Class B Sportsmobile would be your best bets for an off-road RV. If you're dead set on a TT/5er then I would get something very small, like around 17-22 ft, and flip the axle for extra ground clearance.

RE: What Are The Upsides & Downsides To Driving A DRW Truck?

DRW's are too wide for many automatic car washes and ATM/Teller drive throughs. Not very adept at off roading either. But the pros are pretty substantial when hauling a truck camper. You have to weigh the pros and cons for your situation and the type of camping you do.

RE: New Lance, Refused Delivery; Your Opinions Please

You did the right thing. I would've done the same thing and walked away. They'll give your deposit back knowing that you'll be taking them to court. Good luck!

RE: ?'s for the seasoned campers re roof top solar panels

If you plan on boondocking then you'll want to go solar. Without a doubt it's the best, most important mod you can make to your camper. I sold my Honda generator last year because I never used it after going solar. Solar Power 101

RE: Truck camper meet-up at Overland Expo, Flagstaff, May

Steve/Bryan, We are really looking forward to this event. I've heard that 16 TCers are confirmed for the event. I'd love to see that confirmed list posted here on this thread.Hi Mike! While Steve is able to speak for himself, on whom is on the EXPO list, I would think anyone could share, on this forum, their plans or desire to attend the EXPO. What I do know is that a large portion of the people attending have requested that their attendance not published on a public forum. As I have written many times, on this forum too, one tenet of personal security is not to publicise their coming and going from their homes. I suspect this is one of many reasons some have requested this privacy. While someone may ask you a question, about anything, you have the right to decline to answer if you choose and no meaning should be derived by that, other than the question; "Why would you ask?" b Thanks, Bryan. I guess I should've stated why I was asking. I could go back through this thread to see who intends on going and compile a list myself. My reason for asking was to see if the 16 confirmed includes those from the TCM group as well.

Moved it to our new house across town. Getting ready for the Overland Expo in Flagstaff in two weeks. Can't wait.

RE: Very basic question about wiring for solar

I use my TC mostly for business travel. I usually drive every day and park at night. Occasionally, I park for a couple days and a solar charging system would be great to help keep the battery charged without having to run the generator. I also occasionally stay at RV Parks for hookups. I don't need a survivalist run-for-days-only-on-solar set up. I have only one battery and limited roof space so the system will be pretty basic. My simple question(s): Is the solar charge controller connected directly to the battery? If so, do you need to worry about the other charging sources - i.e. plugging in to AC and charging through the converter or running the generator? Thanks for your insight, Yes, it does connect directly to the controller. No need to be concerned about the other charging sources. They won't interfere or damage the solar system while they charge.

RE: Trip Report: Weekend in Tucson

While taking these pics I listened to last half of Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues, the perfect soundtrack while taking in a spectacular sunset. Your tastes seem to be in good order all the way around. Thanks, Cal. Been a big fan since 1977.

RE: Trip Report: Weekend in Tucson

Mike: Reading through and seeing your great photos reminds me when we last had anything close to warm weather here (8 months ago!). Fabulous photos and great write-up! Cheers, Silver- *$3.26 a gallon for gas?? We're at $5.52 a gallon here (this is converted to US gallons, US dollar)-- and this has been the lowest price we've seen since last September! Wow, $5.52 a gallon??!!! Ouch!

RE: Trip Report: Weekend in Tucson

Mike, Gilbert Ray is a great campground. Have camped there several times in the past. I enjoyed seeing your pictures. Tucson is a great location at this time of year. One thing I did notice in the picture of the rear of your camper was the steps attached and closed. Do you carry the steps that way when traveling? I was told by Torklift and Northwood that it was not recommended on our 20111-12 Wolf Creeks. I always do. Never had a problem doing so.

Trip Report: Weekend in Tucson

We spent the weekend at the Tucson Mountain Park taking in the sights at the Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park, and Gates Pass. We were also treated to a pretty colorful sunset which made for some great pics. Weekend in Tucson

RE: Scaddan Wash 14-Day Camping Area

Yep. Even during the peak season, there's no check-in for a single overnighter. There should be LOTS of room there now and you should be perfectly safe.
