RE: air bags strictly for comfort

Remember a truck is a truck...It will never ride like a Caddy. My Dually rides like a Limo! That's because it is soft. Try driving a real truck sometime with an actual payload you can use.

RE: 2002 F350 Lariat with 7.3L Diesel

That's true, I probably should've had more tact. Sorry OP.It's not like we all drive Buicks! ;)

RE: Fifth wheel slider

Did I mention that it will slide with no weight just by pulling in it by hand?Mine would too, but the rollers were just sliding over the well greased rail.

RE: Goodyear Tires

Just for the record, I've had a Marabomb come apart several years back. The thing I can't understand is why people are staying with Goodyear after the fact. I will only buy Toyo / Nitto LT rated tires for anything I own. IMO.probably for the weight rating.

RE: Redwood RV fifth wheel 36RE

We are looking into purchasing the Redwood 36RE and was wondering if anyone owns a Redwood and how do they like / dislike it. Looking for some reviews too. We went to the Hershey Show last year and fell in love with it compared to the other fifth wheels. We plan on going to the Hershey show again this year we are hoping that they will have the toy hauler version there at the show. If you have seen one or know of any problems they may have please let me know. We are planning on full timing and want a all season fifth wheel. Any suggestions for a well built all season fifth wheel please let me know. Thanks.:h If you are going to full time I would look at some other RV's. JMHOof course you would! You should have looked a little harder yourself :R

RE: Manual to Power Awning - Upgrade Current or get New?

Well I would have to disagree with you 100%. I've had nothing but excellent service from Carefree - they bent over backwards to help my installer convert the Dometic on my last rig to the Carefree power arms. He was able to contact the factory direct and they emailed templates, drawings, specs, anything he wanted. It also doesn't take rocket science to see the difference between the two - the Carefree arms are twice the size as Dometic. Our last Dealer said the Dometic arms were so flimsy the gas shock was bending some and he had to replace them. I guess I'm pro Colorado as the folks that build Carefree are in our home town of Broomfield, and I guess I'm anti Dometic, as our new rig is 100% Dometic free!

RE: Goodyear Tires

I thought the second recommendation was interesting. Inflate to 25% over recommended maximum (if your wheels will handle it). Hmmmm, G rated tires would be inflated to 138 (I can't do this because my wheels are only rated to 110psi). E rated tires would need to be stored at 100 psi. That is kind of interesting, given the wheel manufacturers tailer the psi rating to the tire they are designed to wear. I wonder if there is actually a case where there the wheel is rated higher than the tire that is on it - beyond those that get changed around by the owners later. So if they recommend taking the weight off, I wonder if it is better to put the load on the hydraulic leveling system or tires while in storage.

RE: Goodyear Tires

We had the same reliability issues with ST tires when the national speed limit was 55 mph and all ST tires were made in the USA. There wasn't a state in the Union where the drivers complied with that speed limit. You need to come up with a different theory.I don't remember it that way. It wasn't until the last few years before it was repealed that law enforcement pretty much surrendered. When that law started, even in Wyoming you were being pretty aggressive at 65. At least that was what I experienced. NOBODY in the SouthWest complied with that limit. Not in the deserts of California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Not in wide open spaces of West Texas.....:R I'll just let that one go..

RE: Goodyear Tires

Those with ST tires should drive 65 or less. The rest of us drive how we want ;)

RE: Redwood 5th Wheel

What happened to about the last two or three posts from Mile High? They completely vanished like they were never there? :hModerator must have a Carriage. Wish they would have deleted the part where you called my rig lipstick on a pig, but then who cares really. On Edit, that might have been Dean complaining when I gigged him for jumping on the bandwagon about the miserable Montana he won't get rid of.

RE: Manual to Power Awning - Upgrade Current or get New?

I have a power awning on my rv and i would love to get rid of it and put a manual on it. slight breeze and i have to roll it up. a manual you can actually put de-flappers on and leave it out in stronger winds. My next trailer/replacement awning will be a manual for sure. You might be getting a little too quick on the trigger to roll it up - they can take quite a breeze. My wife laughs because my indicator its time to bring it in is when the arm slams up against the trailer :B But seriously, its not for everybody. My Montana had the manual and when my short self was standing there looking up at the black knob on the forward arm about 3' out of my reach during the PDI, it was converted to electric before the first voyage.

RE: Manual to Power Awning - Upgrade Current or get New?

you can defeat the auto wind option. check your instructionsVery few of these have the auto-retract. They are just electric.

RE: Manual to Power Awning - Upgrade Current or get New?

Arnko, What brand and model is your awning? This sounds like a good feature, so long as no one tall is standing below when it tilts itself. :)Mike, that's the Dometic A&E that does that. One arm is spring loaded, and I think there is a kit that retrofits onto those that don't have it.

RE: Redwood 5th Wheel

Doomed by opinion before they ever start :R You can't get past the Carriage cult - it would have been better to call it something else and just let Carriage fade away.

RE: Ready to pop for a 5th wheel, advice please

Yes. That can be repaired. At some point Montana (our old one) starting putting a cut there covered by trim to eliminate the potential for a crack.

You are actually the only person that ever bought one so far, so we are all waiting to hear what you experience before we go try one :B

Check out Explore USA across central Texas. They carry Mobile Suites, Redwood, Landmark, even Airstream. New, used, and a few repos.
