RE: Guts, Glory and ...

Having lived on the North Coast for 52 yrs, only an idiot would take a rig like that on the beach. Many an idiot has lost his rig out on the beach.

RE: First weekend out - first oops with the new 5er

Well if it makes you feel any better, today in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, part of a redwood tree fell on a just fully restored 1953 Airstream. Redwood trees always win.

RE: I live in So Cal & looking for free camping spots?

Have your dog become a service dog and then he can go anywhere in the CA State Parks. My brother works at Burlington State Park in the Humboldt Redwoods and keeps telling me to have my Golden become a service dog so I can take him on the trails.

RE: Water Lines

Its a lot cheaper to buy the Pex fittings online. About half the price as the local Do It Best. PS don't use the plastic fittings, go for the brass ones.

RE: Maybe found my diesel.

Love my 99, pulls my 12k fifth wheel with no problems. Pulled my nephews 13.1 k 5er from Bend to Eureka without a hitch except for the hill coming out of Crescent City. Got down to 2nd and only 30 mph at the top of the hill. And as for the mirrors, they are a piece of cake to replace.,, you can find them online fairly cheap

RE: Cabin air filter ???

Don't have one in my 99 F250 7.3, even went looking for it. It was an option and would be behind the glove box.

RE: Cryo Brake Rotors

Replaced my rotors on my 99psd with Napa drilled and slotted ones, $170 each. But I put on a US Gear exhaust brake for about a Grand and now hardly use the service brakes. Have a 12K fifth wheel and only need the exhaust brake going down the big hills. Came down Lookout Pass in Idaho in 3rd gear at 55 mph and never once used the regular brakes.

RE: Exaust Brakes

Have the U.S. Gear brake on my 99PSD and love it. Installed it myself, easy to do. Holds my 12K 5er back without using the service brakes. Nice thing is it cycles every time you start up so you know its working.

RE: Speedometer repair

Had the same issue with my 99SD, had to much metal filing on the magnet. Turned out the one bearing went out and took out the rest, $1200 later all worked fine.

RE: E15 may kill engines

Go to your local General Aviation Airport and buy some 93 oct low lead. They can't put any of the other stuff in it. Can you imagine the liability of plane conking out up there.

RE: Sabre air mattress

Got one in the Big Country, slept on it 63 days last summer, nice and comfy, have to cautious when stowing as to not pinch and put a hole in it.

RE: B&W Companion Hitch

They do recommend that you check the bolts under the bed once in a while and tighten to specs. The U bolts do stretch once in a while. Just call the factory and the will send you new ones for FREE. PS I do love my hitch, my brother has the 20K reese slider and it is a clunker. If you are talking about the safety chain ubolts which are required for the goose neck hitch and are permently mounted in your bed, they are spring loaded

RE: Diesel tv with tuner?

Got a Superchip in my 99 PSD, wouldn't pull without it. Have it set on the top setting of 110 hp and the EGTs run almost 200 degrees cooler pulling my 12k 5er. 9.5 pulling and 17 empty.

RE: B&W Companion Hitch

They should be loose when installing. Once it is in place and you tighten the top bolt to draw the shaft up then you tighten the U bolts to 80 ft lbs to hold it in place.

RE: 235 85 16 vs 245 75 16

LT235/85R16/E Firestone Transforce HT. 31.7 inch tall. Put 5k on them this summer through MT and WY at 105 degrees with no worries. 12,000 lb loaded, Big Country.

RE: travel queen - history help / identification help

My dad bought a TC in 1960, It had yellow paint but I think Dad painted it yellow to match the 1960 International truck. It worked great for our family of 5. I have got a picture of it you my mothers computer, will have to dig it up and post it.

RE: Freestar tire shredded now what

I use Firestone Transforce on the 5th wheel and the pickup and are extremely happy. I also have friends that changed to Firestone due to my recommendations and they are glad they did.All of my friends have done this with great success, they used LT235/85/16 load range E and they were only about 1/4" taller than the stock junk ST tires. And they have all used TRANSFORCE. My son and I run them on our trucks F250/F350 DRW. They will run mile for mile with the michelins and cost much less. X3 Put a new set on this spring and traveled over 5k from Ca to MT and Wy in 105 degree heat with not problems.
