RE: Tucked away for the season

I will winterize next month but our HTT is always on stand by for a spontanious weekend outing. Some of our best and most memorable camping weekends have been during the winter. But then we do not live where you do. Hang in there. It is a great time to plan next years outings.

RE: Camping in sub-freezing weather

No worries. We often camp in sub freezing. Temps you listed should not be an issue. We have never had sewage tanks freeze and a little heat will spare your inside pipes. A remote chance shower trap could freeze if temps do not warm above freezing during the day. Pour a small amount of RV anti freeze in the trap. Just not a big deal for us anyway. Merry CHRISTmas.

RE: Why do I need a cover?

Lots of good replies to your question. My thoughts are a cover is cheaper than being surprised by water damage from a leak you did not know you had. Aside from obvious protection from the elements. My portable car port works well for me giving me both cover and year round access. Good question. Best of luck

RE: Help, I'm doing this Mod Now (Hunter Thermostat)

So is this thermostat programmable or remote control operated? Always wanted a thermostat that would crank up the heat on those cold mornings. Thanks for sharing the pics.

RE: TP

It is really not a concern since installing the sprinkler like tank flusher kit. We just hook up a fresh water line and tank is flusghed of all waste. No worries.

RE: Cooking and Baking with a Conventional Oven in a 23B

I have learned to be sure all the pans you need will actually fit into the oven before you bother storing them in the rig. My Atwood runs a bit hotter than indicated and heats more in center. Also oven puts out a surprising amount of heat so open a window. Otherwise all is good. I took interior oven measurments and went pan shopping for trailer bake ware. Also be sure all spices etc,. are on board. My kids love to cook when we camp. It is all pat of the fun.

RE: Suggestions for storing water hose while traveling

We have limited storagte space. I put my fresh water hose on a small plastic reel I found. This goes into a ten gallon plastic cooler with my Television cable, sewer hose support, leveling blocks and wheel ch0ock. This sets inside the HTT door and is used for a step for the little kids to climb into bed. Have you seen those collapsable water hoses that reel up? I wonder how long they last? Think I saw tem at Camping World. Best of luck.

RE: WARNING: Boondockers Beware!

I have camped at Trillium and am very surprised your friend had cell service. Forgive me I am not clear on who was questioning your friend if the cops never showed? Glad it all worked out.

RE: RUNNING LIGHTS ON IN CAMP?

My true thanks to those who offered up the "how to" on my question. To the rest of you. I do not drink nor am I always able to easily find my HTT in the dead of night. I am legally blind with a 20/400 corrected vision. Often we camp in some pretty dark places and I just thought it would be a comical way to find my rig. No way you could have seen that one comming eh? So no hard feelings on this end and now you know the rest of the story.

RE: Is it the right time to UNwinterize?

Any time you can go camping is the right time to unwinterize. My HTT has fresh water drain outlets at lowest point of system. I use these along with compressed regulated air. Only place I use anti freeze is in drain traps and only a cup or so. Whole process takes about ten minutes. Go camping and be happy.

RUNNING LIGHTS ON IN CAMP?

I want to make a 7 pin male connector plug that will take the ever hot lead and put it back into my running light lead so I can run my running lights if I want to while I am camped and unhooked from Tow vehicle. Anyone know how to do this? Is this safe and should I put an inline fuse on as well?I know you are thinking why? Well a couple of times we have come back to camp late in total darkness and, not wanting to leave our bright porch lite on, we had a hard time finding our rig amidst all the other big white boxes. Thanks much.

RE: Why are these awning lights so expensive?

When we want to be "Trailer Trashy" we use CHRISTmas lights. I did read about a modified trailer plug that re-routes power from the ever hot lead back to the running lights for that added "bling".Best of luck

RE: preventing condensation

This topic seems to come every fall about this time. I have eliminated the condensation problem. I bought a used electric dehumidifier which I take camping during cold weather and place on the floor in the kitchen which is about mid length. I often pull a full two gallons of water from the air in a 12 hour period. The unit has a two gallon tray and entire unit is about the size of a ice cooler. It is quiet enough to run at night. Cracking a vent of window seemed counter productive to me. We are year round campers and, being based in Oregon, often camp in wet cool weather. This honestly does the trick.I wonder why hybrid manufacturer's do not offer this as an option? Best of luck.

RE: Using the Hybrid in Winter

My family and I live in Portland Oregon and camp year round. Some of our most memorable camping trips are in the winter months when the crowds thin out. We do use the solar blankets on bunk ends and take along a small electric heater to supplement the propane furnace. Also we run a small electric dehumidifier to eliminate condensation problems from heat/cold. Have camped in teens and never had issues with holding tanks freezing up thow I guess we could have. We also have a few photo's of the family sitting around the campfire in snow up to chair bottoms. Go and have the time of your life. Happy Trails

RE: Portable Propane grill

In my opinion the Webers are good but overpriced. I have seen small propane grills for as low as $15. The baby Q seems a bit tall for storage and not as compact as others. Measure your potential storage location before buying. Also look at the BTU output minimum and maximum. Check Wal Mart. Best of luck.

RE: Too funny

Funny to watch. Sad to see such a waste of equipment. Wonder what the story was? The trailer is going to have mold at the least and more likely warping issues. Hope it was worth it.
