RE: washing dishes-is grease and food safe down sink drain?

We have always treated out RV sink like our home sink. No problems in many many years. We also do not use black tank deodorizer or special toilot paper and never have. Just my experience free of charge. Happy trails

RE: Large family hybrid out there? (9 kids)

We are foster parents and have camped with as many as six including our four. What I have learned is the older kids like to stay out in a tent almost every time. So for this reason we are able to camp with the HTT listed in our signiture below.

RE: How does one seam seal a roof if you cant walk on it?

DO NOT WALK ON YOUR ROOF or put any more weight on it than you absolutely have to. Will it fall in on you? Probley not. What will happen is your roof will settle and cause water to puddle in bad places. As previously suggested plywood will distribute your weight if needed for the middle. Some higher end uints can be walked on. Not yours or mine for that matter. Best of luck

RE: TC Vs TT Opinions, Bud99 Post

Great choice. When I was shopping for a HTT I found my time in the archives well spent. You could spot a trend in manufacturer's and customer service. It's not so much what you see but what you don't that can be troublesom. Have fun

RE: Camp Hosting

Doubt I will drop in living on the West coast. But thanks to you and all the other camp hosts for doing what you do. You folks are the unsung heroe's of our camping trips.

RE: Negotiating for new TT

Being spring time doubt you will low ball the dealer very much. Fall is much better for that. Have a top dollar figure in your head before you meet and stick to it even leaving if necessary. It gets to the point for me atleast that I want to pay a fair price not wanting to rip anyone off. I sleep better rolling this way

RE: 12V TV DVD Blu Ray combo suggestions

Doubt you will find what you are looking for at a reasonable price. We have a 19 inch flat screen and DVD/VHS combo that we run through a 400 watt DC to AC converter we bought at Harbor Freight for $30. We can dry camp with a movie every night for four days on our twin group 27 Deep Cycle batteries. Best of luck

RE: Waxing/Polishing Question

I agree with the two can suggestion. I wax every spring and in the past have tried a new brand of wax each year. This year, however, I went back to Mcguires. A little harder to work with than some but well worth the work. One thing I learned is the more coats of wax you use the easier it buffs off. I ended up with six layers last year. I was bored. I suggest two or more coats on the front of your class A to make it easier to clean off the bugs. Happy trails.

RE: New to camping with a dog your advice?

Keep on leash. Clean up after Never leave the dog alone if it barks. Work on leash training and take long walks. Have fun. That's about it

RE: To BIG?

Several considerations here. One not yet mentioned is some campgrounds , USFS for example, have a length limit. We find it amusing that those who can finally afford more space really do not need it.

RE: Creaking, Cracking and Popping

I have noticed the tension chains on my load leveling bars will pop and creek if they have any twist in them when tensioned. Also if you have leaf springs there could be small debris stuck between the leaves.

RE: You know it's camping season when....

I know it's camping season when my three year old little girl brings me an ad from the Sunday paper showing camping stuff. LOL We love to camp. 4 outings so far this season with many many more to follow.

RE: LED replacements for 921 bulbs

Switching all my fixtures to LED panels was the best mod I ever did. More light, less power usage, runs cooler. A win win all the way. Now when dry camping and someone leaves a light on I just laugh it off. I do not understand why they are not standard equipment.

RE: "How do they do that?"

It all takes time. Enjoy the journey. Been camping all my life and like to think of myself as a "poineer of mistakes". I think of mistakes yet unmade. Like forgetting to block my wheels only to have my trailer slide a ways after uncoupling. Slid about three feet. Or the time I had one of my kids crank the tongue down onto my trailer plug wire smashing all the wires. Wondered why my running lites were blinking. All funny now but not at the time. Enjoy the ride.

RE: A dump station to call my own!

Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with us. Seems dump stations are becomming harder to find and more expensive where I live. I am on the edge of doing what you did. Thanks again

RE: Speakers

If you remove the speakers how do they sound on the work bench or just hanging loose?

RE: Help Me Understand

Not about the canvas experience for us. It is a simple choice given our space requirements and the fact that we tow with a mini van. Six in the family and a hybrid is the best compromise regarding space to weight. The bunk ends are an annoyance to me. Noise is hard to block out. Wet canvas needs to be set up at home to dry. If we could dump the hybrid ends we would. We camp eleven months a year. This time of year especially I am ready to dump this thing.

RE: LOAD LEVELER BARS ?

Thanks much for the link. I need to crunch my specific numbers once again as in rear axle weight. I was good when we first bought the TV bur barely. I was just wondering if under some rare circumstance I might be overloading the van say on a dip or bottom of a steep driveway.

What fun and memories you will make. Take lots of pictures as they have a way of turning into solid gold with the passing of time.

RE: RV Paid Off

Congrats. It truly surprises me how many folks actually borrow money for an RV. Guess it is good for the economy. We worked our way up to what we have and saved for the next. I realize some of you probley spent more than we did LOL
