RE: Looking for it all

wow, thanks for all the quick replies! I love my flex and would hate to get rid of it but maybe it's my wife's turn to upgrade her Saturn Vue to something more powerful.
HM
Then you're all set. Buy the hybrid, try the Flex, if it doesn't work trade in the Vue for an Expedition.

RE: Camping pet peeve

Cigarette smoke is a biggie for us....
From an Asthmatic... Not that it's a pet peeve but I'm exactly the opposite, can't stand smokey fires, mine included if it fits the bill. However I'm camping as are the rest of the folks so it's just something I have to live with so I go inside. Bought a gas fire pit that works pretty well although I've only used it one weekend so far. For some reason a cigarette from the next site doesn't seem to bother me, don't even know if I've ever noticed such.
Pet Peeve, noisy neighbors after hours, bought and use a white noise generator, turn it up as loud as I need to.

RE: Looking for it all

The Tow Specs for your Flex show a frontal area of 35 sq feet or less, quite a bit smaller then the front of a full size trailer so you may have trouble in the wind or at highway speeds. If you have the Ecoboost this is probably not an issue although you'd have to inquire about an oil cooler. Max tongue weight shows 450 lbs. which is doable but keep an eye on it. Do you have the tow package?
An option is to look at the high wall Pop-ups, unless you're open to getting a new TV if the Flex doesn't work out.

RE: why would you do that?

I only use ours when the public ones are in bad shape, too small.

RE: Rain, Rain, Rain

We were going for a 3 day weekend this Thursday, but decided to cancel and wait till next week. Local weather is calling for rain starting Thurs afternoon and on and off showers right through the weekend.
We only have a small 17ft TT , and it gets cramped very quickly when we're stuck inside for 2-3 days lol.

Mine's 16' so I know the feeling.

Rain, Rain, Rain

Took the next 2 days off to head to the RI shore for a long weekend of surf fishing. The weather now says 80% chance of rain starting Thurday, right about when I'd leave the house, and continuing all day Friday and most of Saturday.
At the cost of ones reservations, do you cancel weekends away at the last minute due to rain or go anyway?

RE: hitch on back of a Star Stream 18RB

I've seen trucks with equipment racks mounted on the front, don't know if that's an option for your SUV though. A roof rack like PAThwacker has is probably your best bet, or a 2nd vehicle.

RE: Maine coast camping without the high $

What part of the coast are you talking about? if you need hookups it leaves out the State Parks.

RE: Northern PA suggestions

PA State Parks are 100% reservable and tend to fill up on weekends once the weather warms up, so plan ahead and enjoy
That's why I'm thinking arrive Sunday and leave Friday, or some such. But I will make reservations if I can.

Northern PA suggestions

Looking for a short week trip in July to Pa., I've always wanted to check out the fishing. Looking for something similar to a state park with bigger more spaced out sites, hookups are optional. Need to have decent pond, river, or small lake warm water fishing nearby that I can do with a canoe as opposed to large lakes. I'm thinking west, of Scranton and north of I80, the more remote the better. I'll be traveling from New England.

RE: Power King Towmax tires for hybrid travel trailer

I went through 2 sets of Promax's in 5 years, then changed brands, others have had decent luck so it's a******shoot. Mine were probably at max load though so take it for what it's worth. I like the wider footprint of my Maxxis, my local auto tire guy ordered them for me after trying to talk me into Carlisle's. If I'd have had the option of Goodyears I'd have gone that route.

RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

Not my cup of tea but with the popularity of outdoor entertainment centers it's just going to get more common, as long as one is inside the CG's rules and reasonably considerate of the neighbors, go for it. If it really bothers me, which it might, I'm in an rv and can roll up the awning and leave. Would probably be better off going over introducing yourself and joining in though. Now if the Cornhuskers game was on leaving would not be an option.

RE: The Shakedown...our successful first trip out.

Didn't know a hybrid came with 52 gallons, pretty nice.
The tank sensors are always incorrect, just the way they are. There are replacement ones if you get ambitious but you'll have to ask around to see if they work better or not.

RE: Bought a used HTT today!

For safety sake, use a WDH. I'd go the next size up from the 500 lb if you go with the Camco. I use a 600 lb Equalizer and it's none too big. The manual on the Traverse may have info on this too.

RE: Traveling in Tornado prone areas

I didn't read all the posts but if not mentioned get a map that shows the names of the counties. Had tornado's a few nights outside Nashville a few years back, had no idea where they were as the weather radio reported by county only. Good thing the host drove around rounding up folks to head for the bathrooms when they were close by.

RE: Bought a used HTT today!

Congrats, we enjoy ours and have had no major issues, good little trailers. If you have any questions drop me a note. By the way, it's actually a 16' box, 20' bumper to ball, have yet to figure out where the 18 in 18sb comes from.
Couple things to keep in mind, mine is tongue heavy, not much carrying capacity, and do check your tires.
