RE: Dometic RM2852 No Workie -- Please Help
Well I figured out what "popped" meant, ok I'm a bit slow sometimes!
I checked the terminals on the sensor with the red wires, it was 12v hot on one side, not on the other. Pushed in the little black knob thingy between the two & got 12v on both terminals. Went inside & turned the fridge on & the panel lit up like a Christmas tree!! Wooo-Hoooo!! I quickly turned it off.
So I think I'm going with just the cooling unit kids! A much cheaper answer to fixing the fridge.
Thanks to all that gave me there $.02!

Not having the recall done, the back of my fridge looks a bit different. But I'm guessing the thermal sensor has the two read wires running off it& not the sensor with the black wires.
How do I re-set the thermal sensor if it's "popped"?
If I can figure out why my 12v is not working & it's a simple fix, than I may just do the much less expensive cooling unit replacement.

Just confirmed with Dometic that my fridge never had the recall.
So I guess it's off to the Internet to find the least expensive route to go.

Bummer, cooling unit is gone by your description... That probably blew a fuse on the control board or popped the thermal sensor on the shielding.
There are several videos on youtube showing how to replace the cooling unit....

What/where is the thermal sensor? I see two thick (14 ga.?) black wires coming from a sensor a few inches from the bottom of the shielding, but I don't see anything that could have "popped" ie breaker, button etc.
BTW, I don't believe my fridge has not had the recall done, if that matters.
Im trying to determine if we should repair the fridge or just go new & get the warranty. If I gotta replace the cooling unit + $200 for a pc board & do the work myself, the wife says just go new & be on the road quickly.

As the title states our fridge gave up the ghost. It's just over 7 years old.
None of the lights illuminate up top where you turn the unit on, choose gas or auto & select the temperature. I've checked all breakers, gfi's, and fuses all are fine. So I'm stumped where the fault lies. Any ideas?
I did notice some yellow or neon green colored powder around the cooling unit on the backside. Some research reveals that I prolly got a crack in the cooling unit & the stuff leaked out. I'm concerned that's not my only issue because of the previous mentioned issue.
Am I correct, am I dealing with two potential issues?
Any assistance is appreciated & thanks in advance.
