RE: Most Sought After Comfort Food In Travel

I just installed a "snack box" in the van for candies, chips, juice boxes etc. Now that my son has fallen back in love w/ the van that is a way to keep him happy. The other way is to (gulp) let him drive With twizzler in mouth will travel.

RE: Highway Restrictions and Vehcile Classification (NY)

If they can allow some of those larger SUVs like the Escalade on the parkways then you should not be uncomfortable w/your vehicle. Just make sure you have height clearance for the underpasses. Some of them only have 10' clearance. Just north of White Plains, NY there is one that is only 9'7"(north of Valhalla).

RE: New Bank Ripoff???

Chase Bank does it for $6. They have to find a way of repaying our tax dollars w/o cutting into their profits. But, yet, if you deposit the check in your own account, the bank won't clear it for 4-5 days, even though the funds are electronically transfered 24 hrs. later.

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 extended van. From the rear doors to the back of the seats is just 12 feet.

RE: Step one. Bought the van.

J Weld is great. Grind smooth then prime & paint to protect. My van is also about 90% complete. My problem is that I can't stop going back & making modifications. Need to focus. I dream up my projects while driving, my second addiction. Interesting thing is that the more my son's friends marvel at all the******I have done the cooler he thinks it is.

RE: Stress of disposing on the Home's contents

I am planning for a September departure since third surgery on hand leaves me wondering how much longer I can do the work I do. Have been slowly chucking "stuff." I have a class B so there is less room than most. It is hard since my stuff is mostly memories accumulated w/my son but taking pictures helps me hold onto it even though I no longer own it.

RE: The Economy and Camper Van Conversions

The book is like my bible. Managing 12 Volts by
Harold Barre. It took me 2 reads to fully understand but a thin & very to the point. I still can't set my vcr or dvd player but the wiring for van and batteries was a straight foward process. I could go on forever about how well thought out.

I have gone through two stickers in the past six years but now I need a replacement because they both faded. How can I get a replacement?

RE: The Economy and Camper Van Conversions

I bought my van new 6 years ago w/no experience & now I have a full bed, a tv cabinet, a kitchen cabinet & now I am finishing a small cabinet over the wheel hump on the opposite side next to the bed. A really good manual helped me wire the van for 120 in the campground. The van is insulated & carpeted. I am living proof that you just need the desire to do it. No experience required.

RE: Part-time camper van?

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 that I have converted for travel but I have loaded futons, kitchen furniture & so much more. No one believes w/ all the stuff that is installed that I can fit anything. Every time they are surprised. If planned right,it can be done.

RE: Beeping on the van??

I don't know if it works for Fords but the Dodges have it so you can get the code by turning the key as to start but don't. I do it on & off 3 times leave on the third time look at the odometer & see if codes come up. There will be a P then a 3 or 4 digit code. You need a Ford manual for your model to look up the problem.

RE: Question for the "CVC" group.

I have been on this forum for a few years & have encountered owners of all types of class Bs. posts that are related to issues of them have stayed & those that belonged better in other forums for perhaps better respone have been justifiably been moved.I own a diy camper, have posted questions
& have always gotten advice. Never have I felt any snobbery because I didn't own a name brand B.

RE: Idea for heat in a conversion/camping van

I use my Mr. Buddy w/cracked window & no problems. I don;t mind heat. To me 85 is chilly. I need now to find if there is a quick connect hose since I have problems w/my hands. Hard to screw & unscrew small tanks. Remember that the heat will not come up until the motor is warmed up. Not a green thing. You better make sure your carbon monoxide detector is working.
