RE: Propane tank in MH

THanks for all your replies. I hadn't thought of using it in case of a power outage. Good point.

Propane tank in MH

Is it better to store my MH with the propane full or 1/2 like it is now? I live in Wisconsin but last winter was quite mild. THanks.

RE: ???? for Wisconsin RV'ers....

Be sure you check with Devil's Lake State Park to see if they are offering electric sites off season; my friend's ranger there and she said they're doing major renovations to all the electric sites starting now. Might mean areas are closed. Mirror Lake near Wisconsin Dells is nice. I've stayed here into November. Beware though that dump stations are kept open until there are freezing temps occur. Then they may close them overnight and open during the day. Might consider calling ahead. Good luck.

RE: WY HWY 26 from Tetons to Casper, WY

Thanks, I do go slow with my MH and tow car. The other route I'm considering is Hy 191 to Rock Springs. Probably the same deal with 2 lanes but it's shorter by a bit.

Zion National Park: has electric sites at Watchman CG

For those needing electric, not necessarily an ADA site, Watchman CG in Zion NP has 2 loops of sites with electricity. I was there in Feb and it sure came in handy for heat! But I know there are reasons others need the power. FYI

WY HWY 26 from Tetons to Casper, WY

I was wondering if Hwy 26 was mostly 2 lanes road for that entire distance? Thanks.

RE: Campgrounds/RV parks near Rock Spring, WY

Thanks for confirming what I had found/or hadn't found. Guess it's the KOA. Diane

Campgrounds/RV parks near Rock Spring, WY

I will be heading south from Jackson to Rock Springs, WY on 191 and am wondering if you can recommend some CG's around Rock Springs. I would prefer a pull through site. Thanks.

Grand Teton National Park--Idaho fires

For those of you heading to GTNP in Wyoming, the smoke and haze from some Idaho forest fires is particularly bad and has been much of the time I've been here, which is 11 days. The last 3 days the mountains have been covered with haze, with just an outline to show for peaks. I don't know the situation in Idaho and they don't tell you much here. Anyone know? Thanks.

ADA campsites in Grand Teton National Park

I didn't know if anyone had posted this but I am currently in Grand Teton National Park at Gros Ventre Campground. They have added 10 sites with electricity for those needing it. You either need an Access Pass to the national parks or, I think, I disabled placard to be eligible for one of these sites. They are very nice. They are currently starting on similar sites in Colter Bay CG, another NPS CG in Grand Teton.

RE: Sunset Bay St Park, OR coast

I was just there last month. One of the rangers in the interpretive center told me of a group that sets up spotting scopes at Simpson Reef, where you can see all kinds of seals and sea lions if you're interested in that. Ask a ranger about when they are there; I know it's the weekend but also a few other day. Enjoy!

RE: Snow Bird in reverse

You might want to check the temps in WI and Michigan. The southern parts have had record setting temps in the upper 90's and low 100's with high humidity. It sounds like you are wanting to stay in the northern parts of both states? I second Door County and there's a great state park, Peninsula SP, but getting into either areas could be tricky. Check out online. Have fun.

RE: Baker City, Oregon - which rv park to stay ?

I am at Oregon Trail West right now. I would agree that it's ok, there are shade trees in most sites. I liked the laundry facilities and available gas. Price is right and location is good. Restrooms were clean but are very small. Mostly for me it was close to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.

RE: Glacier National Park--campground experiences?

I've camped many times at Many Glacier CG--absolutely love it. You can park your rig and walk to most things. The lodge, trailheads... I never experienced problems from the Swiftcurrent Lodge, noise wise, and I found it handy to go and have coffee when it was raining!! The last time I was there, though was in the 90's so I don't know if anything had changed much. We camped one night at St. Mary or somewhere close and came in to Many Glacier early the next day. PM me if you have other questions.

RE: Yellowstone for beginners

I plan on spending 2 weeks in the Tetons if possible. I don't know what the limit is for days in a campground. I know Yellowstone is 14 day limit. Anyone know about Tetons?

RE: Yellowstone for beginners

My MH is 22' plus tow bar; but I have to get my car in there too. Would I fit in sites at Lizard Creek? I'd love to try it. Depends on how fussy they are about how your car fits into the site. Do you know? I have solar power too but many CG's are too shady for this to be useful. Thanks.

RE: Yellowstone for beginners

Thanks for all you information. I will need to run my generator a little so that rules out some CG's, right? I'm quite familiar with the Tetons and have always camped at Gros Ventre. I have thought of trying Lizard Creek as it's near Yellowstone but not the NE section, which sounds like what I would like. I'd love to see wildlife.:)

Yellowstone for beginners

I am going to the Tetons and am thinking of finally taking in some of Yellowstone. I am leary of the crowds and prefer the woodsy places to the geysers. I would spend about a week if I can, 5 days at best. I wonder where to stay and what to see; I'd prefer the lesser visited places. Any help is appreciate. I know there's been so much written on this subject but a search didn't help. thank you.

RE: Yosemite Entrance Route

You can drive all the way to the valley and then hop the shuttle to get around if you wish. I was there the beginning of May and spent 4 days near El Portal and was lucky to get 7 in North Pines. Ditto the trip to Glacier Point. Then there are the typical things to see like Lower/Upper Yosemite Falls. Get your hands on a map and also a bus route pamphlet. It's priceless. Have fun.

Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Baker City, OR

Hi, I am stopping here and was wondering how long to allot for my visit. I'm very into the oregon trail history if that factors in at all. Thanks.
