RE: Good Sam Web Site

I had the same problem so I emailed Good Sam, they were quick to email me back that they had some tech issues, which are now fixed... Thanks Good Sam! RVman / John

RE: Syracuse Rally Messed Up

This was the first time we attended a Good Sam Rally and I was very hesitant to participate fearing the worst. I was quickly impressed by all the efforts and coorindation that went into making this event so successful. We booked for earlybird which was Tuesday morning, June 11th. Directions were clear and we arrived at destination without any problems at all. We were guided and quickly and efficiently parked in the infield within 15 minutes of driving on the grounds. Unfortunately, the weather was not good and it rained for several days before and during the rally. We were unable to set up chairs or the BBQ because of the mud but with all the activities going on, we didn't need them. We stayed in a State Park for 2 days prior to the rally and needed to be pulled out of the mud as we had sunk down to the storage bins. We were lucky to be on solid ground at the rally. We saw several RV's that needed to be pulled out of mud at the rallyas the ground was way too saturated with water. If organisers were able to find supplement parking on dry ground at the mall in that short of a time, then thumbs up to them! The volunteers were the best! If organisers weren't able to provide RVers with information immediately that may be because they were dealing with an emergency situation and had to handle too many RV's at once. I'm sure they couldn't just let RV's sit around. They had to move them and get them parked as quickly as possible. All in all, I look forward to attending more rallies. As any of us that have had to organize events at one time or another, we all know that we can't please everyone and that there is always something unexpected that happens. Congratulations and many thanks to all that made this event possible. Marcus, everyone... especially us RV'ers, know you just can't out-guess the weather. Surely no one can blame Good Sam for this situation... I can understand being disappointed, but upset with Good Sam, no way. This is a great post "Kensue", nice to hear how helpful all the volunteers and organizers of the Rally were. I know from all of the years of camping / RVing, weather can create the un-expected... I know I have been up to my "lug nuts" many times over the years while camping... RVman / John

RE: Running frig while driving

We always travel with ours on propane.. I do turn it off prior to pulling up to a fuel pump and pull away before turning it back on. We have done this for well over 20 years and have never had a problem. We use our 5th Wheel while traveling... We eat most of our meals, use the bathroom, take naps and sleep... Have a great time in Michigan...

RE: I'd love to have this Good Sam benefit someday

tenbear, MVNO stands for mobile virtual network operator. It is essentially a company that provides the sales, marketing and customer service of mobile phone services but none of the technical aspects. They bulk purchase the network access on the wholesale market to one of the big 4 carriers. So an MVNO structure makes it very easy for companies like GS to offer customers a branded, specialized and customized plan. That would be great if Good Sam could put a program together like that for it's members

RE: Changes in Highways magazine

A company that does what is best for the owners and not the customers does so right up to the point that it has no customers anymore. I find this entire subject to be absurd. Anyone calling out someone as having "FAILED miserably in every way possible" over a MAGAZINE needs a reality check. YOU ARE STILL GETTING THE CONTENT OF HIGHWAYS MAGAZINE. How many times does this have to be explained? How in the world are you harmed by this change? In my opinion, no one can objectively look at the work that Mr. Lemonis has done as the CEO and conclude anything other than he has a personal passion for his job and that he is motivated by doing the right thing. You can see that in his removal of BP products from stores after the oil spill (which I didn't agree with personally), you can see that in his Secret Millionaire appearance, and you can see that in the time he spends to respond to people personally on this site. His job is to act in the best interest of >1.7 million members, his employees, and his shareholders. Frankly, I think he is doing a pretty dang good job of it. It is a job that most people here, including myself, couldn't last a month in. The hardest job that we as members have is influencing change by getting our collective voices heard when it comes to influencing the direction of a company. To get the pulse of a membership of millions, a company has to try to discover and filter the real collective voices from all of the noise. Flame throwing posts like this do NOTHING to help that. Nothing. Good Responce.... And keep up the great job Marcus and your people....

RE: Highways Magazine

I have attempted to make my selection several times via the site address in the articles, the link in one forum post and via the web site/club benefits/highways magazine. Each time I get a long error message. I have no idea if my selection has taken. Anyone else having this problem??? I did not have any problems signing up... Good Luck

RE: Highways Magazine

I am going to miss Highways Magazine, however I understand the reasoning behind the decision. I for one never minded all of the ads, and knew the reasoning behind having that many. There is no way the Good Sam Club can make every member happy about everything. Again, I think Marcus and his staff have done a fantastic job and look forward to there continued endeavors with the Good Sam Club. Happy Camping...

RE: Rv Parks/Resorts in the Ft. Myers, Florida area

Gulf Waters is tops. I was intrigued by the Red Coconut beach front sites. We took a drive by the last time we were down. The beach front sites are on top of each other. I, personally, like a tad more space. I was glad I thought about it and we checked it out. I would have been sorely disappointed if I had made reservations there. Different strokes for different folks. We've stayed at The Groves - mostly permanent sites and short term you can't get cable as it has to be turned on in your name. Sites were tight. It was an okay place to park, but we had a lot nicer time at Gulf Waters. X-2 Gulfwaters RV Resort is by far the best around Ft. Myers Beach in my opinion.

RE: Fort Myers RV Parks

Try Gulf Waters RV Resort, I have stayed there many times during the winter months and have not seen children there. I don't think it is adults only, but there is nothing for the children to do and it is expensive... I think those 2 things must be what keeps families with children away... It is an awesome campground... RVman. / John

RE: Good Sam Giveaway - Double winner again?

Odds work in a funny way.... I have been signing up daily for many years and have yet to win once... Someday maybe... the Odds will be in my favor! I have played the lottery, signed up for many things over the years, bought tons of raffle tickets, even tried to meet my match at a Good Sam Rally, I just don't win things, period... I honestly do not ever remember winning anything! I was at the rally in Louisville, KY... They were giving away door prizes, Marcus was there and giving tons and tons of free gifts away... I sat there for the entire time, you know what I won? Nothing! All I can say is some people win and some don't... I am one of those who do not... but I still keep trying :-) Good Luck to you! RE: Hiways issue for Early Spring 2013

I also received my latest addition to "Highways" magazine, and although like everyone else my preference would be more content and less advertisements... but I certainly understand that it is advertisements which pay for the magazine. I still enjoy each and every issue I get and look forward to the next. For all of the benefits from the Low cost membership of Good Sam, I understand that it takes the advertisement from companies for me to continue a low cost membership. I appreciate the direction which Marcus and his staff have taken the Good Sam Club, and in a whole think they are all doing a fantastic job. Please do not get distracted by a few complaints about the "Highways" magazine. Keep up with the great work... And Thank you to all who have made it happen! RVman / John

RE: Wow, Good Sam didn't tow my truck

I couldn't help but notice from the time of the original post it took Good Marcus' Rapid Response Team all of 12 minutes to respond. I find that kind of service absolutely amazing in today's world. I can't find someone at WalMart to tell me where an item is on the shelf most of the time. And when you do find a live person, they don't know (we all know the deer in the headlights look). My hat is off to Marcus' and his team at improving Good Sam's service to all of us. I hope we all have a great new year. I couldn't agree more. Marcus, Wes and the rest of the Rapid Responce Team should be commended for the quick Responce given to those who have a problem or two with a service offered. Myself, I have seen quite an improvement in our Good Sam Club and all of the services. Are they 100%, nope... but I don't think there is anyone who can make that claim.... I wish all of the Rapid Responce Team, Marcuas and all of my forum. Family a Merry Christmas and a Happy Safe New Years... RVman / John

RE: Good Sam Member Services

It is nice hearing a positive post... Thanks I have always had positive experiences with Good Sam, and proud to be a member. Although I love their services and discounts, to me. The real value is being a member of a club that is involved in making our RV'ing experiences better. As members of a large group of like interested RV'ers, gives us an opportunity to share our experiences, both good and bad through the forum. As a group, our voices can be heard with much more strength. With Marcus at the helm, Good Sam is just getting better daily... Good Luck, enjoy RV'ing and thanks for posting your experience...

RE: Camping World service

In this sue happy world we now live in, those "free" little services we've learned to expect are fast going by the wayside... In my opinion, in today's world a person shouldn't expect to much for free... And when you get it, such as the free cup of coffee, feel lucky and appreciative.
