RE: I never stop learning!

My TC weighs 5 K and a single fully charged 12 volt battery will fully lift and lower it three times with no problem. I do not understand the two battery thing.

RE: Bigfoot Jacks and the CA earthquake

I have a off truck stand I made out of 80/20 alum beams that would survive a 8.0 but of course not in place when I might have needed it. TC will soon be in Super Dave country as we are moving up there. Lot less chance of a big quake there.

RE: Bigfoot Jacks and the CA earthquake

Not at home right now but I did get a text from my friend across the street saying I have a out of plumb front jack. When I get home I expect to find our new TV on the floor. It shook when just a dog trotted by

RE: Attempted Fuel Theft

I know someone who parked his truck and went in a store. Upon returning to truck he noticed fuel on the ground. Fuel theft is very easy with plastic tanks plus no sparks so no Kaboom. Sounds like one of those poorly thought out urban legends to me. DC motors (like those found in cordless drills) are notorious for big healthy sparks. Further, if it's a plastic fuel tank, and you want the fuel fast, a piece of steel tubing cut on a sharp angle would go through much faster, with no chance of spark and the hollow center would flow FAR faster than a drill bit. BTW, the drill bit was still in the hole? Wonder how the chuck was tight enough to drill a hole, but loose enough for the bit to get pulled out by a bit of plastic? Not sure what you mean by urban legend, it happened. Not sure if a dc drill would cause a fire with diesel. I run BD and no way a spark is going to light that off. I also wonder who'd be dumb enough to lay a under a truck that could be started and driven over them any second, and what they carried to drain it into, then pour it into? This little piggy stole no gas, this little piggy knew to read the badge on the side of the truck that said diesel.

RE: I'm back

Add CA to that list. It may be against the rules in CA but I see it often. Those I know that do it say they have never been stopped.

RE: Attempted Fuel Theft

Yeah I know it is not a new thing but I posted just to keep the issue alive for those who might be aware of it. Plastic tanks make it so easy. I have had holes in the past but not from theft. Robber stoppers from a lab supply are good to stop a leak. I have also used a stick whittled to a taper.

Attempted Fuel Theft

I know someone who parked his truck and went in a store. Upon returning to truck he noticed fuel on the ground. Looking under the truck he found a drill bit sticking out of his tank. It seeme likely the thief was looking for gasoline and too stupid to know the truck was a diesel. Epoxy and duct tape got him home. Fuel theft is very easy with plastic tanks plus no sparks so no Kaboom.

RE: Front hitch weight capacity?

500 lbs. would likely be the minimum rating for a 2" receiver. Do you mean max?

RE: Will 55 Gal drums hold the weight?

Hey Chuck, when I mentioned the state flower thing to a AK resident years ago, he got all huffy. No sense of humor.

RE: Lithium Ion vs Lead Acid

The way you disable a old LI battery is to soak it in salt water.

RE: OPD Fail

Pigtail is good, works fine with spare tank hooked up.

RE: Who knows what this is? (Hint - Maxxis)

I try to run at least load range D or better and LT tires on boats, trailers, ect. I had several bad experiences with ST tires, none with LT.

RE: OPD Fail

OPD Fail

Ok, got a stuck OPD safety valve on a propane tank. First time it has happened to me. Banged it down on a stump a few times but no joy. That seems to be the favored solution on the net. Any suggestions?

RE: How do I make the refrigerator colder?

It is a good idea to freeze and refreeze water bottles but only near the end of a trip would I have room in the freezer to do that. I sometimes wrap a piece of dry ice in a towel and put in the fridge.

RE: Trip Report: Sierra Trout Fishing, Camping and Paddling

Buzz, I have never fished them but have heard of big trout in Blue Lakes above Hope Valley. Red Lake also.

RE: Trip Report: Sierra Trout Fishing, Camping and Paddling

There is nothing wrong with living in NorCal, SoCal a list of things. Lol. I always like the geology on 88, huge lava flows next to glacier worn granite. Hope Valley is a great area.

RE: Just want a good AM portable radio

I have radios that are 20 years old, working fine. Got a CCrain radio with bells and whistles that lasted till just after the warranty ran out. Not a good experience with a high priced radio. I did lik it's functions while it lasted.

RE: Didn't know it was back there!

I have had DRW flats and the only way I noticed is hearing a different sound whil the window was down. Pulled a utility trailer miles down a dirt road not noticing a flat also. Did I mention I wear heading aids. I thump and IR temp quite often.

RE: What did you do to your truck today?

You mentioned tapping the frame. Using studs you just drilled clearance holes?
