RE: Timing tank limits

Dump every chance you get is my best advise.

RE: In-Bed Connection

Make sure the install is up near the bed rail. Down low prevents loading things that sit on the bed, batteries in my case. Also up high makes it easier to plug in.

RE: LED dome light upgrade won't stay in place

Dab of GOOP, five years and still stuck.

RE: Tongue of 1972 Shasta very difficult to get off ball.

Small point, it called a coupler instead of tongue. Now that I have proved myself to be a dweeb let me offer more positive input. I have two of those couplers and they are a bear to release if there is any pressure against the clasp. While I have never needed to, isn't there a nut up under there that adjusts clasp grip? I am sure clasp in the wrong term but works for me.

RE: Noisy kids, drunks, rude people, dog dung

Not trying to troll this but it seems like most of the response is from east of the Rockies, just a lot more crowded camping back there?

RE: Towing questions

With a 40 inch extension you might consider side tension chains like the Super Hitch uses. I used S hooks one time instead of locking connectors and they tried to straighten out due to side force when turning.

RE: The fickle finger of fate was messing with me again

A good mantra to chant while hauling heavy is EXPECT STUPIDITY. At least you had a fast trip over The pass, took an hour and a half from 580/680 to Tracy on Xmas Eve. That has me on crutches from the truck clutch and arthritic knee.

RE: Stoked on a new Cargo Trailer for use with my TC

Very nice, load it nose heavy and head out.

RE: Move spare to top of TC, stick an Onan genset in the space?

In my old decrepit state I have a hard time just getting a spare on the studs. I would need a anti gravity device to get one on a roof. I don't think I have ever seen a spare on on a RV roof.

RE: Bears!!!

Never had too much trouble with bears in the valley but have had some long nights of defensive combat in the back country..

RE: No thank you. Don't need your help

For a good time take a lawn chair and a cool drink to a boat ramp on a busy summer day.

RE: Big truck gets stuck in Zion tunnel; driver blames GPS

Yup, mistake but stuff happens and my bet is no one here can say they never make a bad decision. This one just had lasting problems.

RE: What do you use for a refrigerator Thermometer ?

We use an AcuRite dual fridge/freezer remote reading thermometer. It shows us the two temps as well as min/max readings, and also has alarm settings to warn us if the temps get too far out of range. AcuRite 00986 Refrigerator/Freezer Wireless Digital Thermometer http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/510mOY9AjhL._SL1000_.jpg width=400 Me too, use it at home and transfer to TC when needed.

RE: Low price for diesel

Algae will surely grow in a few months when diesel is stored in a dark sealed place. You will know it when your fuel filters start getting clogged up way before they are due to be changed. I would use an additive to prevent algae growth. As long as no water gets mixed in diesel will store much longer than that. Of course if the blender forgot to add a biocide all bets are off. I add biocide with each tank but bio diesel is involved.

RE: Humidity / Moisture Absorbers; Do They Work?

If you are near a business that gets machinery from overseas they get packets of dissicants in the crates all the time. Like the packets found in pill bottles but about a pound. I put them in places that might get damp and every now and then bring them into the house oven to drive out moisture. Works well and helps heat the house lol.

RE: Good Thing he Didn't Put A Camper On It.

Geeze, it took 5000 pounds to break my frame, apparently just a camper shell was enough for that truck.

RE: Frozen Axle Bearing

Wait, if the inner slides on and it is a constant diameter spindle and the outer won't, something is wrong. Undersized outer?? It is not a constant diameter spindle per the picture. The outer diameter is smaller so the inner bearing would pass by it. Many spindles are like that. I have yet to see a picture so assumed constant diameter as I haven't encountered stepped spindles on utility trailers. I know they must be out there just haven't seen one. I am assuming the step is not just a matter of a few thousands. Edit... Saw the pic, hard to see how much damage but I bet it can be repaired with a fine mill file, dykem, stone and polishing cloth.. As long as the seal surface and threads are un damaged all will be well with some time spent on it.
