RE: Air Dams - People Always Asks Me

Air pressure can do strange things to a TC. My slide can get sucked out three or four inches if the pass thru is open and there is a strong side wind hitting the non slide side.

RE: New guy with a problem

The 180 degree rotation is a interesting situation. You also might try banging the tank on hard ground or a stump, both ends. That is a cure for a sticking OPD valve but never heard of a partial stuck one, what is it with these stuck OPD valves, I have had to bang three different tanks in order to get them to flow. Wife is convinced I am going to blow up home sweet home when I do it.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

For me it is what I am afraid of what I might do to my TC. Going to load it this week for the first time since I have had months of knee problems. Holding in a stiff clutch could be a problem. Makes me wish I had installed a 4Low kit. If all else fails I will just disable the vac line to the front axle, red neck 4Low.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

... I decided to commit a sin because I an in NorCal, I sprayed the roof off a bit so I guess I will go without a shower today to make up for the water I used. ...I will flush my toilet, to replenish the water you used. :B Double flush please, I sprayed the leaves off both trucks.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Went out and swept the leaves and stuff off the roof. Then I decided to commit a sin because I an in NorCal, I sprayed the roof off a bit so I guess I will go without a shower today to make up for the water I used. Still can't use the TC because of the manual tranny in truck and bad knee. Did buy a '95 with auto so I can get around but no way I want to put the big TC on that.

RE: Little orange cones

Over the years I have used big cones, little cones, lines laid down using white flour, radios, and LED road flares.

RE: How do I install horizontal propane tanks in my Lance 1161?

Sleepy, I got enthused when you said Amergas recerts tanks for $10. Turns out in the Golden State the going rate is $25. Not a surprise to me .

RE: How do I install horizontal propane tanks in my Lance 1161?

So I have a idea I am thinking of trying. Have some alum I beam stock, not big but strong and light . Take two of them and connect with chain so they cant pull apart. Put some angle on one end so they hook onto the tank compartment and slide the tank up instead of lifting. Store lashed to ladder. Just a idea at present, even have have Teflon sheet stock I could add.

RE: Another roof question - best thing to strap items down with?

For things on the roof I have always used a rafting cargo net and pad to protect the roof. Never carried bikes up there.

RE: How do I install horizontal propane tanks in my Lance 1161?

NRALIFR...early on I posted a solution for H tanks filling...right angle adaptor from welding supply house. Same TC as NRA and same lifting problems. The right angle device won't work for our situation. I used to under fill for a lighter tank but now even that will not work. Will have to depend on help.

RE: Confused about bearings

My two cents is I don't like Bearing Buddys on boats or cargo trailers. I have no experience wit TT bearings but have lots with boats and cargo trailers. When I am done with the job my wheels rock a bit as I like them that way but I think I repack more often than others. Never had a bearing freeze but did on a dealer serviced auto.

RE: idiot people

In Canada we have daytime running lights( mandatory on all vehicles). They still find ways to be idiots! Daylight running lights are great. When I was a kid in the Midwest a kind of fad developed where people would put a single lamp in the middle of the grill. I remember how well you could see a vehicle. Then the powers that be decided that was against the law so people had to take them off. By then I was a senior in high school and my girlfriend and her mother were killed in a head on in rain. I have always thought it would not have happened if the lights were still legal.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

TC is still resting on its jacks BUT I am off crutches most of the time and managed to depress the truck clutch without fainting. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. LOL

RE: Hitch Lock Hazared!!

If my hitch is going to be on the truck for a while, I use a grade 8 bolt with a lock nut. And just because I'm paranoid, I drilled the bolt and put a Cotter key in it. That is what I use and take it one step more. I drill thru the nut and not all the way thru the bolt. Then enlarge the hole in the nut. The bolt gets tapped for a set screw that uses a 1/8 Allen wrench. Unless a thief has a Allen wrench the stinger is staying put.

RE: Fridge won't stay burning in hot sun

It's extremely difficult to troubleshoot your problem over the internet when we don't know what year, make, model of trailer with or without slides, etc. His question seems pretty straight forward enough so an extensive DNA report might no be needed. A small fan should fix it or a shade for the grill.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Alas, not much. I haven't been able to get around let alone drive a six speed for 7 weeks. If things don't improve it may be the end of TC travel for us. TC has not been neglected while sitting as I check for condensation often and keep the battery up. Can't get on the roof to clean twigs and such off from the recent wind and rain so got to talk my kid into doing it. NorCal recieved two good storms so there is hope but water will still be precious this summer if no more storms

RE: How often should I start a diesel engine?

I would put a biocide in the diesel tank considering where you are. Put it in before your next trip so it will mix well with the fuel.
