RE: Pyrometer and diesel trucks

EGT is good but a fuel pressure gauge is more important to me of the two. A good set of gauges in my mind is FP, EGT, and boost. I don't have a auto tran. so don't know how important a temp gauge is.

RE: mattole campground northern ca

This camp and the entire Lost Coast is closed till May 30 and might be longer. There is a triple killer loose that knows the area well.

RE: DIY Stable Loads?

you could try logging wedges.. drill through them to make a slot to clamp them on and they are available where ever chain saws are sold..
Hockey pucks are what I used. Double stacked. I have had them for 3 years now and they show no sign of wear.
Just saying, the ones I used cracked in half in two months use.

Hocky pucks don't last long. This is what I made years ago.

RE: Anyone Install Lithium ion Batteries? Results?

Have you priced them? Yesterday my 9.5 year old Trojan group 31 went to the big battery home in the sky. I thought 9.5 years was a pretty good return on my investment.
I should add I have a lot of LiPo's for RC planes, I never charge them inside the house after having one catch fire due to my dumb charging mistake.

RE: Door entry "wake up your jacks and pop outs" buton help

Good grief, I never even knew about a wake up button and now I learn the wake up button needs a wake up itself. Way to go folks.

RE: California Fire

When I see my own model Lance and my own model white Dodge pickup burning to the ground, I get the shivers.
regards, as always, jefe
Yep, same as mine also. Makes you worry a bit.

RE: California Fire

Just into the month of May and we have late summer type fires burning up and down the state. Yesterday the state snow survey announced we got 17 percent snow fall of a normal year. Shaping up to be a truly summer from hell.
And Wayne, I took it as close to a troll as it could get. Poor choice of words indeed.

RE: cover for flooring in camper

My solution was to get enough of the 4x4 cardboard sheets that seperate stacks of paper towel pallets from Costco. Lay them on the floor and tape them together to make a pattern of the needed carpet. Then do some shopping for big enough carpet remnants for a low price. Cut the rug to the pattern, make sure you understand the layout when you draw the lines on the back of carpet, and lay it down. When it gets too dirty to vacuum clean, toss it and install a new one. Two dogs, two humans, no way to keep a TC pristine.

RE: Fun with a truck scale

Good idea Wheel. Don't have to go to the truck stop as there is a scale I always drive across when going to the dump. Free, and I am out there most every day flying RC. Next time I load up the TC. It does not get me just the TC weight ratio but will do just fine. Thanks

RE: Fun with a truck scale

I keep looking for a racer that has four scales. My TC is very unbalanced, heavy on the slide side. I have to add twice as much air pressure in the air bag on that side to get it to level out. Got a plan to shim things up next time I start crawling around under the truck. A shim under the slide side Timbern might help.

RE: Fun with a truck scale

I need to find someone with one of those so I can get the numbers on how much each jack supports. I know the slide side is heavy but it would be nice to know just how much.

RE: Front rack

Not sure I would want to carry gas up there. Anyway with a hitch stabilizer there is no bounce.

RE: Centering devices - how much slop to you allow?

"When the camper moves to one side it also is putting more strain on the tie down points. It really makes a differene when you move things an inch. My Lance is to light and on washboard roads it has moved in the past. I tried boards between the fender wells, but definately need to look into some bolted down metal spacers. Great ideas here."
I guess I just have a different view. I think a lot of people over tighten the TC tie downs. My TC moves a bit and the only time I have ever become concerned is when a friend put the front anchors on wrong so there was no forward pull. The camper slid back while climbing steep grades.

RE: Centering devices - how much slop to you allow?

I don't want to be a troll about this but I would not worry about my TC moving an inch. It surely could not go much more because of the wheel wells. If you are really worried, put a 1 x 4 one each side at the wheel well.

RE: Removing Atwood jacks

Mine is just a two prong plug. Just pull it out. Good idea to do it now and then and clean with wire brush.
