RE: Geocel proflex rv not available in California

I'll get in on that tank of gas, I love CA, warts and all. I have noticed over the years people in Orange County seem to carp a lot, always put it down to over crowding, too many in a cage.

RE: Our Lance will be 20 years old in March........

Just a youngster here, '01 Lance and truck. Going to have to sell both in the spring because of knee problem and a stiff clutch. Not a big fan of this getting old ****.

RE: A short and not-so-sweet trip report

Saw your truck twin last weekend down by Rio Vista, who knows could have been you.

RE: Wave 3 heater and propane tank

We lived for years with a gas clothes dryer fed by portable tanks inside the house. Never a problem but always aware of having a bomb as a housemate. drill your hole and put the tank outside. When I first started using a Wave I ran it from a small tank inside a van overnighting in ski resort parking lots.

RE: How to test auxiliary batteries for amperage?

Get a load tester.

Put it behind the grill and in contact with the radiator. Same fiberglass screen for 15 years, no problem.

RE: Altamont Pass

Since all my trips over the pass are at night it was an eye opening day light trip two days ago. The wind machines are being removed and much larger ones are replacing them. Still not as large as the ones I have seen in Wyoming but big. East bound is still rough and the slow lane is smoother than the other lanes most of the way. East bound I am unloaded so dodging trucks in the slow lane can be dicey.

Altamont Pass

I am happy to report passage over the pass is much improved. Last night in one of my all too often trips over it I kept it at the limit east bound and the surface is mostly new. A far cry from when the local paper reported a woman's car was totaled by her insurance company because of front end damage caused by a pot hole. West bound still needs finishing touch but much improved. So now instead of a white knuckle passage due to the road you can concentrate on the idiots around you both slow and fast.

RE: California sr 87 -Traffic ticket!

For those of you avoiding CA, thanks. You are welcome, but you all should return the favor and avoid going anywhere else ... joking. ;) Not a problem, my days of going far from home are over, bad knee, heavy clutch.

RE: California sr 87 -Traffic ticket!

Cowboy up, pay the fine and try to avoid making the same mistake again. For those of you avoiding CA, thanks.

RE: Need some input; slide does not stay put

Did you travel with the pass thru open and others closed?

RE: Mountain RVing advice.

Not sure what you mean about your transmission, a stick shift? If you are staying on interstates you should be fine. I had Ford vans up to a '85 before I switched to diesel trucks and cap overs. Every Ford I ever had back to the mid engine type had nasty weak brakes that over heated to the point of failure on long steep grades. Not fun. You should be ok in Interstates.

RE: jefe's converter upgrade and new 200W solar panels

The panel mounting brackets have me confused. There looks to be a air gap on the upright arms and no connection to the panel. I know that can't be the case so any help clearing that up for me would be great.

RE: Washing during drought

Reasley, I put rafts in the river many times at that bridge. I hated to lose that river but have enjoyed the lake many more times than I did the river. Yup, we have some tough air quality laws but I remember the Santa Clara Valley looking like it was in a cloud some days. It was in a cloud, a smog cloud. These days very clear air 98 percent of the time. Now FL is scary to me, bugs the size of birds, giant toothy reptiles and snakes that look like fire hoses, lol.

RE: This is the kinda **** that wakes me up at night

Here's another situation to think about. Lock the door from the outside and see if someone inside can get out. It can happen with some locks.

TC Framing Question

I think I know the answer but throwing it out there to those who have seen a TC side opened up. I am assuming that the top of the side wall has at least a 2x3 top plate where the roof joins the side wall. I might be fabing some brackets that will screw down right there and want to put some deep screws in to anchor.

RE: Washing during drought

In Sacramento it is ok to wash if you use a pressure washer.

RE: Prices for Diesel Fuel vs Gasoline

Diesel powers the world. Some parts of the world are experiencing economic slow downs so the demand overseas for diesel has faded some.
