RE: Pennsylvania Inspection

They use to do a twice a year inspection way back in the 60's or 70's, they did away with that, it is a once a year inspection now. Just got mine inspected three weeks ago, good for another year.

RE: Home Base after Retirement

St George is nice, I been through it several times, even went on their website and looked around. Seems like in the Summer, due to a lot of people moving there they have a water problem and ask people to conserve, which is fine, we all should do that. I like Yuma, Az, Lake Havasu City, Az also. one would have to visit them and get on the internet and find out about taxes, services, etc. I myself, would not want to live in the Southwest in the Summertime. And I don't blame you for wanting to get out of California, I got out 42 years ago, and am I glad!

RE: How to Re-pack Wheel Bearings

It is very easy, you get yourself a good quality wheel bearing grease, comes in a can, like a can of planters peanuts come in. get your outer wheel bearing in one hand put some grease in the palm of your other hand, about a tablespoon amount or so. Then press side of the bearing into the grease, press down to your palm, work it in around the whole bearing. you have to work it into the roller bearings. I do mine every other year. the inner one is a little different. You either pull the seal out, most of the time you end of damaging it and have to put a new seal in. I always try to work the new grease in by leaving the seal and bearing in, working the grease in with my finger. Hasn't failed me yet.

RE: AC Unit leaking inside

Guys I got up on the roof and took the top off. cleaned the drain holes out but it didnt seem to make alot of difference. There is a drain on both sides of the condinsor that drains through holes in the pan. It drains under the pan not out of it. Do you think it might be the gasket lettin it in?? Its a duo therm. I wonder if it would help if you caulked around it, couldn't hurt

RE: AC Unit leaking inside

I had the same type of problem a few years ago and the problem was the holes in the drain pan were clogged. Clean the holes and the problem was gone. Easy fix. Don I had the same problem, when I got home I went on the roof and took the cover off and seen the little drip channel under the condenser had a weep hole on each end was plugged with dirt. Cleaned it out, no problems.

RE: Slideout Problem

All these posts make me gun shy about getting a coach with slide outs, the older I get, I don't feel like pulling wrenches anymore and I don't feel like paying others to do it! Problems with slides are rare, and once you have one it becomes something you can't live without. Selling a MH without a slide is a problem. Maybe and maybe not, Alfa is out of business, and their main problem was slides, I have seen Alfa's at the resort we go to with slides half out because of the problems. True, a slide gives you extra space and is nice, and if I did get one I would only want one in the living room.

RE: inspection of motorhome in Pennsylvania

I live in PA and get my motorhome inspected here at a large truck garage. What you stated is not true. Tire inspection are based on condition, not age, for inspection. Whomever did your friends PA state inspection was trying to sell a set of tires. If this was an RV facility I suggest your friend utilize a truck facility for his inspection and chassis repairs. He'll save money and get much more reliable service. -Tom Right, they are suppose to be inspected on condition, not age. If you live in Pennsylvania, like I do, you find out who is out to rip you off and who will give you a good and fair inspection. I just got mine inspected and I am glad the fellow crawled under the front of the rig and had me rock the steering wheel back and forth. The control rod needed replaced. So I went home and ordered and rod, next day put it out. I replace my tires when they turn 7 years old, I did have one blow out at 6 years old.

RE: You left too soon

To soon to leave good old Pennsylvania, we are having a Indian summer, 70 today and tomorrow, 60's the next 7 days. Got leaves to rake, things to do around here. 01 Dec sounds like a good departure date. But I can understand people leaving from Canada and those border states, Brrrr!

RE: Inconsiderate, selfish campers! Again!

I don't suppose there is any boondocking allowed in Yosemite? I don't think so, the Grizz might get offended!

RE: Campground Discrimination

There are several in and around Yuma,Az that has a 10 year limit, Cocopah does and when I made reservations a couple of years ago, they said E mail a picture of it and the Boss would take a look. I did and they said I was ok. Some of them want to keep junk out and I have seen some junk. Then there are the upper crust, at least they think they are, they complain if they are parked beside anything less than a Prevost or something like that. Resorts are the ones that have that rule.

RE: Access to cash for Canadians in USA

We are soon headed for the RGV - our first winter. I am trying to work out some of the basics. We have US accounts at 3 Canadian banks and a US Mastercard. So far so good. I have now been told that I can not get access to my US accounts at US ATMs. I can get access to my Canadian accounts but would end up paying a conversion fee which seems totally pointless as I have the US funds. So how do I get cash other than bringing a fistfull? Other options? Thanks. Mike. Hey Mike, Bring plenty of cash, tell you friend to do the same, help your neighbors to the South get out of this recession!

RE: Bike rack

I can recommend a Thule 990 double track 2 bike hitch mount rack. I have one it is very strong, you can get them for 2" hitch or 1 1/2" hitch receiver. Price varies, I bought mine last year at the Hershey RV show at a special deal $220.00. Look on the Internet.

RE: Carrying spare tire

I carry a spare tire, needed it one time, carry various other things, but I DON't carry a spare wife, that could be a problem and put me over the GVW!

RE: I'm A Believer!

These work also: www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/hard-wired-surge-guard/2480 last winter the same this happened at our camp ground and my neighbor had one and he came over to me and said "shut your electric off!" I did. The power surged way over what is safe. They called Florida power and they had been working on the lines and set the transformer to high. They came out right away and reset it. They are worth having.

RE: Yellowstone

Yeah, I was really disappointed. I couldn't find any fireworks displays, or Shakespeare plays in over a week. That is one of the greatest displays that Mother Nature has put together in the world. It may not be what you are looking for. Mike I agree Mike, it is great just to sit in your car and watch a large herd of Bison swim across a river, or see a bear with her cub. I could stay there a week with and mot miss neon lights, amusement parks, etc. I took my 15 year old grand daughter to the Grand Canyon for the first time and we looked down into the canyon and I said, "what do you think?" she shrugged her shoulders and said nothing, like no big deal. Young people today have to be constantly entertained and on cell phone talking or texting, even while driving. I told her last month, I'll take you to Maine next summer, she always wanted to go, I said one condition, you leave that cell phone at home. Looks like she won't be going to Maine!

RE: How do I pull in a weak WiFi signal?

Go towww.jefatech.comthey will fix you up. I got my gear from them. Since Wifi signal is a line of sight signal, meaning, if a motor home is in front of the source signal, it will be weak when you get it or not at all. I put my wifi antenna on my bat wing tv antenna, when I roll the antenna up, the wifi antenna is sticking up 2' higher. They have several solutions, I chose the "wifi repeater and amplifier kit $149.
