RE: could my ref be kicking the bucket? (dom RM 2800)

I think the refer went south, mine did this summer while sitting in my back yard. I walked in opened the refer door and the ammonia about knocked me off my feet! I fired the refer up for a hour, it did nothing but I heard a bubbling noise in the back of it. I pulled it out and ordered a new one. Told it apart and one of the pipes at a curve rusted through, it was 16 years old, lasted a long time.

RE: I've narrowed it down to these two!!!!!

Wow! You'd better do some more shopping. I took a look at it on Ebay, and there was only one 1999 Monaco Windsor (offered by Carolina Coaches) - the only thing to like is the price. New carpeting and a new wood floor (that was not original - and the dealer hints at it), but they didn't bother to stain or hide the massive evidence of FLOODING. Look at all the base cabinets and wood trim - all of it shows heavy water damage. HEAVY generator hours, no stated mileage, lots of captain chair leather wear, and fiberglass deterioration under paint all over. The rear tires indicate some significant suspension issues (although the tires were probably rotated), and not one tire could pass inspection due to major age cracking. The body side views almost seem to show a significant bend in the frame. Five Hundred Dollar non-refundable deposit - save your time and money and keep looking. It's hard to blame the dealer - he put on tons of pictures and promises NOTHING in his disclosures. This one was ridden hard and put away WET! I agree, I looked also, I would want to look at it in the flesh, pictures hide a multitude of sins, and when you can see the sins in pictures, what else is wrong. Four tires need replaced, how much is that? A wind shield, big bucks. It's your money, be careful how you spend it.

RE: Love's no more

As for me, I don't look as much as what the price is but the ease of getting in and out. I guess I am getting old, want things nice and easy!

RE: A question about motorhome For Sale on ebay.

Here is another Motorhome I have found on ebay that might be a good deal? I've never owned a motorhome so this is new to me. 1997 Overland Odessa Diesel Pusher http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Overland-Odessa-Diesel-Slide-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ130344144934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRVs_Campers?hash=item1e591dd026 That is nice looking motor home, if I were down there already I would go and look at it!

RE: A question about motorhome For Sale on ebay.

Wondering why this motorhome is cheap in price? 1999 32' HOLIDAY RAMBLER !26K MILES!CLEAN ! NO RESERVE Current bid: US $10,000.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-32-HOLIDAY-RAMBLER-26K-MILES-CLEAN-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ290371516881QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRVs_Campers?hash=item439b7db9d1 There is two more days for it to run, if the one is selling it feels he won't get his price he can cancel it before the time is up.

RE: Need advice on replacing microwave

Mine went south also, so, I seen a real deal at Frys Electronics, only problem, it was 2" to deep, it also is a convection oven, I thought if I got it I could do away with my oven which we only use for a storage area. I bought it, took the cabinets down and made a new cabinet to accept the new microwaved, and took the oven out, got a stove top and made a cabinet where the oven was, now we have a lot more storage area.

RE: WWII in HD

I'm glad it is on, I learn a lot from the history channel. I'm so proud of the men and women who answered their countries call and went to fight Hitler and Tojo. I was born during the war and if I were old enough back then I would have went. All you WW2 vets, thanks, and may you live to be 100 and in good health.

RE: MSN reports hasard to pedestrians especially in Florida

Women and teenagers on cell phones and texting, that's the new threat, I got rear ended by a woman on a cell phone. It seems that is all I see in my area, cell phones stuck to their ear with their mouths going full blast.

RE: Are RV Covers during winter good or bad????

Regardless of what anyone might say...I cover mine with a huge tarp. Its water proof ( not water repellent) and it extends down on any side enough to cover the windows preventing sunlight to penetrate the interior and cause fading. I dont want snow and ice sitting on my "bare" roof and searching for a potential leak spot. I'm with you Sully, a few years back I bought one of those RV covers that Camping World sells, I believe they were warranted for 3 years. One month or so after the warranty expired I took it off and it fell to pieces! Rotted away where the sides attach to the roofing material. The company offered to sell me another, (a better one) at the price of my original one. I declined, I don't like getting bit twice. Went to Harbor Freight, got a big silver tarp at 1/4 of the price and it keeps my motor home looking better!

RE: Buyer Beware- Water damaged MHs

About six years ago, we had a flood and a RV dealer had about 10 of his Holiday Ramblers and Coachman Class A's in the flood. The water flooded the lower compartments and generator and engine areas. I went to the insurance auction for them. They went like hot cakes, nothing went over $50,000. nice HR's valued over $240,000. I wish I was in the market for one I would have bought one. Have it towed home, go over the generator and diesel engine, clean the lower compartments. Sure, a "reconstructed" title but a nice motor home. On the other hand, I went to a used car lot and he had a class C for sale, I opened the door to go in and immediately I seen water marks half way up the kitchen floor cabinets, I wouldn't have touched that thing for any amount of money. If one is handy and the damage is not to severe, I wouldn't be afraid of a water damaged motor home, but I would want to see it BEFORE it was cleaned up.

RE: Florida discount camping during winter

I doubt whether you will find any RV park in FL that will honor Passport America for those months. I agree, it's their season to make money. You need to go to passport America's website, select the campgrounds you might go to and see what it says about in season discounts. I have been with Passport for 3 years and I have saved some money with it, I like it.

RE: Pennsylvania Inspection

The Pa. inspection was one of the reasons I left there 40 years- twice a year-- stupid. Yes, twice a year was stupid, a money grab, but we changed it to once a year now. I think it is a good thing, I maintain my vehicles but when I took my coach in for inspection a month ago, they found a control arm that needed replaced, it surprised me. They let me take it home to work on and sure enough, it needed replaced. I put my wife in the seat and had her rock the steering wheel and I could see right away it needed fixed. Went and got the control arm, $135.00 and I put it on. A lot of folks don't maintain their vehicles and problems arise, if we didn't have inspection, Lord knows what would happen. Ohio doesn't have a system like Pa. and I have seen Ohio cars in Pa. with holes the size of basketballs in the side of them, and tires that I would not be caught driving on. Sorry Ohio people, not trashing you, but your state vehicle inspections leave something to be desired.

RE: Pennsylvania Inspection

They use to do a twice a year inspection way back in the 60's or 70's, they did away with that, it is a once a year inspection now. Just got mine inspected three weeks ago, good for another year.

RE: Home Base after Retirement

St George is nice, I been through it several times, even went on their website and looked around. Seems like in the Summer, due to a lot of people moving there they have a water problem and ask people to conserve, which is fine, we all should do that. I like Yuma, Az, Lake Havasu City, Az also. one would have to visit them and get on the internet and find out about taxes, services, etc. I myself, would not want to live in the Southwest in the Summertime. And I don't blame you for wanting to get out of California, I got out 42 years ago, and am I glad!

RE: How to Re-pack Wheel Bearings

It is very easy, you get yourself a good quality wheel bearing grease, comes in a can, like a can of planters peanuts come in. get your outer wheel bearing in one hand put some grease in the palm of your other hand, about a tablespoon amount or so. Then press side of the bearing into the grease, press down to your palm, work it in around the whole bearing. you have to work it into the roller bearings. I do mine every other year. the inner one is a little different. You either pull the seal out, most of the time you end of damaging it and have to put a new seal in. I always try to work the new grease in by leaving the seal and bearing in, working the grease in with my finger. Hasn't failed me yet.

RE: AC Unit leaking inside

Guys I got up on the roof and took the top off. cleaned the drain holes out but it didnt seem to make alot of difference. There is a drain on both sides of the condinsor that drains through holes in the pan. It drains under the pan not out of it. Do you think it might be the gasket lettin it in?? Its a duo therm. I wonder if it would help if you caulked around it, couldn't hurt

RE: AC Unit leaking inside

I had the same type of problem a few years ago and the problem was the holes in the drain pan were clogged. Clean the holes and the problem was gone. Easy fix. Don I had the same problem, when I got home I went on the roof and took the cover off and seen the little drip channel under the condenser had a weep hole on each end was plugged with dirt. Cleaned it out, no problems.
