RE: Dingy

Jeep is probably the easiest to set up, and it may also be one of the most popular.

RE: My wife can't decide, Please Help

We have had both at one time or another, as stated above there are lots of reasons for either one. We prefer the table as 95% of the time it is just 2 of us and it gives us more move around space in the MH, also, our MH has a very large window that goes almost from ceiling to floor which gives us more light and a better view outdoors. We liked the booth as it gave us a lot more space to store "stuff", everyone has lots of stuff, of course it made in to a bed were the kiddos could sleep if they were along. Like I said above now it is just the 2 of us most of the time. Happy Wife, Happy life, Happy Camping!

RE: If you were a Snowbird, where would you stay?

Havasu--There are RV parks in FLA for a lot less than $1500 per month! Close to the shore is probably in that range, the further inland the lower the price gets.

RE: If you were a Snowbird, where would you stay?

Winter is the drier season in Florida, we have been going to the Tampa area for the last 5 years and it has been dry to the point were they restrict lawn watering, car washing etc. Humidity is not much to worry about from November to end of March. Cost of living is lower in the Yuma area compared to Tampa area, snowbirds, winter visitors still come down in droves to escape the cold weather in the north.

RE: How hot is it really in the summer. Arizona/New Mexico

I have been in Yuma in the summer, have seen temps as high as 128, not sure what the normal average is. I don't care if you have humidity or not 128 is HOT, the difference is you have to be sure and hydrate!!!

RE: If you were a Snowbird, where would you stay?

I have done both AZ, Yuma, and Florida below Orlando, and the Florida weather is IMHO better than AZ. In AZ we sometimes had high winds and dust storms for long periods of times, like a week straight. We prefer southern Florida.

RE: spare tire / flat tire - how's it work ?

As others have suggested, I would at very least carry an unmounted spare that matches the other tires on my RV. The road service people can mount it. I had a blow-out recently and just for fun asked the road service man the cost for a new tire, I bought 2 new ones for his price, just sayin. BTW, I have a mounted spare with me all the time.

RE: Towing a Jeep T J 4 down

We use an SMI supplemental braking system with breakaway, Blue Ox Tow bar and baseplate. I installed another bulb for stop/turn and tail light in each tail light housing so that I do not have to rely on the diodes working properly, it was relatively east to do and has worked great since 1998.

RE: Who uses GPS?

Always use our gps, it has found us many shortcuts and also alternate routes when there is a traffic problem. Garmin Nuvi is what we use, of course they all have their own little quirks. Once you get used to it you won't leave home without it!

RE: 2000 Dutch Star

On my Newmar it is behind the rear bumper. Look up behind the rear bumper. There is a mounted spare, inside the left rear door, my electrical compartment, there is a Tee handle that release the slides the tire is in. I would not leave home without a spare of some sort, we have been really glad to always have a spare tire, I wonder what the road service company would charge you for a spare tire.

RE: Tire Replacement on Class A Goodyear or Michelin

I have not been happy with Goodyears, G670, I am replacing them this week with Bridgestones. Guess I will find out.

RE: Yuma area, Best Parks?

When are you going to be in Yuma? Grass may be a little hard to find, especially in the heat of summer. We stayed at Del Pueblo, very nice but didn't see much grass. Also, a lot of the parks are closed from sometime in April and May until October or November.

Service Comment

Traveling north on I 81 in Virginia at the 200 mile marker had a right rear inner tire failure, not good. I called Good Sam at 12:43 PM, at 1:22 PM Cash's Service truck arrived, at 1:45 PM I was pulling back on I 81 north. Cash's Service man was excellent and very knowledgeable, thanks Cash's Service and Good Sam.
