RE: Park near SeaWorld San Antonio?

Since you don't say how long you would be willing to drive to Sea World, I'll make an assumption that 20 miles isn't too far. One of my favorite campgrounds west of San Antonio is located within Castroville Regional Park. It's far enough yet close enough if you know what I mean. Nice park with lots of shade and Castroville is a nice historic area. Good luck.

RE: Towable? Mini Cooper

Minis' have one of those new fangled computer "keys", round in shape and chipped. I would wonder if that could be left in to keep the sterring wheel free...or whether a fuse would have to be pulled....you're gonna have to check things out.
I all goes as you hope...find BlueOx for baseplaces. Great products. G'luck.
As mentioned in an earlier post, the steering does no lock on the 2nd generation Minis, and the key does not need to be left in the ignition.

RE: Kindle e-book Formatting Q?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but with my Kindle reader (I've got the cheap one) I upload MOBI files to it for reading. You can use a program like Calibre to convert files for use on Kindle devices. It's a good free e-book management software utility.

RE: Towable? Mini Cooper

Lots of threads on this forum already regarding the Mini Cooper, and a search would be beneficial to the original poster. With that said, I flat tow my Mini Cooper and so do many others on this forum. Stick shift only as the automatic would need some sort of lube pump. Mini says, "No".

RE: Anti-virus recommendations.....

This subjects comes up quite often, but as said you can't go wrong with Microsoft Security Essentials. I'm still using AVG, becuase I have a comfort level with it and have been using for a very long time. I would suggest not paying for Nortor. It's a waste of money.

RE: Bulb & Socket installation on a 2008 WK Jeep Grand Cherokee?

My advice is to look into wireless tow lights and never worry about running bulb and sockets again.

RE: Xbox live?

As a full timer I've never had any problems playing games (mostly Call of Duty) online. Both Verizon and AT&T 4Glte are more than adequate for playing games online. 4G is sometimes iffy, and 3G is not so good especially if the network fairly saturated.

RE: Leaving grey tanks open?

I echo what most have said and leave my grey tanks open until 24 hours or so before I know I want to dump my black tank. Believe it or not I go around a week before needing to empty my black tank.

RE: Black tank won't drain...

How do you know the tank is NOT empty? If you are sure that there is still something in there you might want to get one of THESE. You can get one at Walmart...not the same brand, but will do the same job. Hook up a garden hose to it and back flush into the tank.
However, if you are going by the monitor...you might just be empty as those things are pretty much worthless for accuracy.
Ron
This is what it took for me when I couldn't drain my black tank. I use it occasionally now just to keep things flushed out.

RE: You can can dry camp at Walmart for free.

I don't get it. Why so much hostility from the "this subject has been beat to death" crowd. So what? If you don't care for the thread, then move on. No need to opine, just skip along to some other thread. Why berate a new person for not reading the previous threads? What a bunch of prima donnas. Some of us - many of us - are new to this forum and the "Walmart thread" and others are new to us as well. If you're tired of reading about it, then simply don't. If I sound irked, I am.
I'm doing him a favor by introducing the idea of searching the forum on occasion. If you don't like my post feel free to ignore it. BTW, your post seems much more hostile than my original response.

RE: San Francisco Area RV Parks

I live in the San Francisco area and have camped at a few parks. In San Francisco it's less about as the crow flies distance and more about distance to public transportation. San Francisco RV Resort
is very convenient to the subway (BART) and in a very nice area. Candlestick is in a horrible neighborhood; although, it's secure at night.
PM me for more information or search for some of my previous threads.

RE: Parking on sand

If at all possible keep the rear tires on something more solid than sand. It's so easy to get stuck in sand with a motorhome. If you do get stuck, use water to stiffen the sand up. This along with a good long two strap and a 4x4 can get you out. Don't ask me how I know this...
