RE: Sleeping in Daylight

I bought the little "eye masks" but I don't think it will be a problem for us. I, too, can take a nap in daylight if I'm tired.
We leave Monday. Whoohoo!

Just a thought, but check deep between her toes to make certain she hasn't picked up a burr that's imbedded.

RE: Whats your favorite adult beverage??

My all time favorite is plain ol' water. If I want something stronger, I go with sweet red or white wine. For a mixed drink it's a Seabreeze.
Since DH cannot drink due to his meds, I wait for "company" as I hate to drink alone!

RE: spare tire / flat tire - how's it work ?

The big rigs don't normally come with a spare. We didn't have one on our new Phaeton. Fast forward to a few years later, got a beep on our Pressure Pro system that a rear tire was going down. Found a parking lot and pulled in and called road service. Took nine hours to get someone out with a used tire that would barely hold air. They wanted $600 for a new tire, only double what they normally cost. After that experience we decided to carry an unmounted spare. Anyone who comes to change a tire on a DP can mount it as well. We tow a Ford Sport Trac and the unmounted spare fits on the floor of the pickup bed. Never needed it yet, but have it just the same. We feel it is worth finding the space.

He certainly is a cutie. Your kids will really enjoy that pup and the pup will have such great friends in your boys.
Congratulations.

RE: Our beloved dog (Sammie) suddenly died yesterday

So sorry for your loss. I, too, am glad your wife was there to hold Sammie, as difficult as that was. Sounds like Sammie enjoyed a wonderful life and only knew unconditional love.

RE: Camping in Berlin Ohio

We have stayed there a couple times. We love it. Nice, quiet, etc. It's owned/run by a Mennonite couple. Very nice. It is no frills. . . FHU sites, no laundry or showers. But that doesn't bother us. It's well kept and a great location for the area. We have stayed at both the upper part and lower. Not really a bad site. Plenty of room.

RE: What does your RV forum name mean?

Not long ago we had two Scottish Terriers. They are gone now, but my heart will always belong to my Scotties. We have found out that later this year when we return from Alaska, we will likely become parents to two more Scotties who need to be re-homed. And it happens one is black and one is white. . . just like our "boyz," except these are both girls!
Life is good.

We stayed there several years ago. It wasn't crowded, but there were other campers. Lovely camp. We enjoyed it.

RE: Replacing a recliner - any opinions?

We took out one of the sofas in our Tiffin and replaced it with two recliners. I don't care for Lazy Boys, they do not fit my 5' frame. We bought two recliners similar to the LB, but made by Best. They don't have the puffy head rest that hurt our necks like the LB's. They fit both "short" me and DH who is 6'2". Have had them since 2006 and they are still holding up. We ordered them in the fabric we wanted. They are comfortable enough to sleep on or just to sit. I can scoot them around myself and they come apart for easy moving into the coach.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Since we are going to Alaska via BC and the YT, I ordered travel planners for those places. Sue, it's easy to see why you love the Yukon so much. The booklet has beautiful pictures and mentions lots of activities throughout the year. Just gorgeous.

RE: Shots in back

I do believe the epidural is a steroid shot. I also had one probably 10 years ago. Helped immensely. If they work, I would use them. I can't believe you haven't heard of them. It's an acceptable pain relief practice.
The one shot I had really helped. But I choose not to have more if I can avoid them. I had some physical therapy that helped a LOT. The therapist directed me to a book called: Treat your own back, by Robin McKenzie. It's available from Amazon for under $10. She also has one for the neck. The therapist that really helped me used these exercises and modifications of them (to compensate for a torn muscle I have). I've been using these, walking and bike riding on my recumbent and an occasional pain pill.

RE: Shots in back

My Dad had several "facet point" injections a year ago. He had several every 2 weeks all winter. Never touched the pain. He went to a different doctor who did an epidural and he was good to go for several months. Pain has set back in, but at 89 they aren't going to do surgery. At least the epidural worked for a time.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Welcome to Scottiemom from Indiana. They finally joined our list. :B
Did you want "Teacher's Pet" to be added to the list? I was not sure the way it was worded. :h
Not too much longer!!!
Janet
Yeah, I'm pretty sure DH (Teacher's Pet) is going with me. :W
Thanks, Janet!

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Guess it's time to officially put us on the list. We are leaving May 22 and heading out from Indiana with friends in our 22' B+ coaches on our adventure of a lifetime.
The only reservations we have made are the Marine Highway down through the inside passage and the way home. Can't wait.
