RE: Buying PUP on Friday- don't want to mess it up

I would
1/ ask him to see his ID (IE Drivers License)
2. Check the title & go to the Courthouse to register it together.
If he refuses RUN do not Walk away!

RE: Can a Highlander pull a folding trailer?

4/6 makes a huge difference, I suspect you can pull most Pop-ups but check with your dealer/manufacturer for limitations.

RE: Bears & Pop-ups!!!

I have seen many car doors, hard shell campers & even cabin doors ripped off by hungry bears. None are safe no matter what the vehicle. Bear boxes are essential in bear country.

RE: time to set up?

My set up is semi-permanent (3 months) so it takes me about 3 hours including hauling the table out, setting up the screen house, chairs, tables, microwave, IPod player, radio, start the fridge, Etc Etc Etc.

RE: URGENT PROBLEM: Can't get the bed to slide back in

I find on the "king" bed end it is difficult to do this alone as if it does not go in perfectly straight it stops. Possible but definitely harder alone. However usually it is because something inside is causing a blockage.

RE: Backing up your pop-up !

LOL! So True. The first time I backed up the Jayco 10X at a campground in Big Sur it must have taken me at least 8 attempts to get it anywhere near straight.

RE: "check in" process at national parks / forests?

Never heard of such restrictions. I qualify for a handicap discount. I just fill out the envelope, put it in the box & that's it.
PS I got my handicap card at Kings Canyon NP in 2004, not showing any proof & none asked for. I also have one for state parks in California.

RE: Awning Question

The one Cheesy thing about my Jayco is the awning. Difficult to set up & take down. I find it easier to set up a screen house that is far superior to any awning. Keeps out the bugs, sun & still allows a great breeze.

RE: Well, we did it...sold our Pup...

To Bad. Well you had 3 good years. Storage can be high although I pay but $25 a month for 9 months then camp the other 3 for a total cost of 1,025 a year. don't know a better bargain than that for a 3 month vacation.
Hope thing improve & you can get back into it. Good Luck!

RE: Newbie Questions on Trip Planning - Campgrounds

If you make it to California I highly recommend Tom Stienstra's California Camping, Foghorn press $21.95 with over 1,500 campgrounds. I have found it to be very accurate.

RE: Stereo System in PUP

I have my I-pod with player & two speakers. I can also hook the speakers to my radio &/or Computer that I have down loaded music, old radio programs etc. The Speakers/player cost under $50.

RE: ants in trailer

I get earwigs in My Jayco often. I "Bomb" them about once a month wiping them out for several weeks but they always come back.

RE: Coleman Lift System Broke - reimbursement for related?

I don't understand why they are trying 'to get Coleman to pick up at least part of the tab for the motel'. If that were part of the warranty, it would have cost more. Since they did not pay for this coverage, they are not entittled to it. You take your chances.
Insurance of all forms is available.
To answer your 1st question:
1. What are the odds that Coleman would be sympathetic?
ZERO (I hope)
You Hope they will not be Sympathetic? Why?
As a guy who made a nice living for 42 years representing manufacturers I can tell you that a few bucks spent to ease a customers woes comes back 10 fold. If they had picked up this guy's motel they not only would have a life long loyal customer but thousands & thousands of free advertising for the rest of this guys life. Your attitude is a great way to lose business!

RE: Big screen tv mounted to the ceiling?

A LCD TV will weigh less than th 25 # limit or a 19" will be less than 12 #s. Noticed Target this week has a 19" Vizio for $189. We bought a 32" Vizio a couple of months ago for home & find it an excellent unit.

RE: Philosophical question, Why do you PUP?

Nope I have no desire to "move up". I love tent camping but I'm just too old to enjoy it like I once did. Therefore upon retirement I purchased my Jayco 10X. I love the very comfortable bed, the real fridge, the heater & the freedom from weather but still like the open window, smell the forest feel. I spend 3 months a year in it wishing it was more.

We had over 60 MPH gusts last summer that knocked down tents blew picnic tables over & scattered lawn furniture but no harm to my Jaycao at all.
