RE: Virginia State Parks

It's about damned time.

RE: OBX Cape Hatteras KOA in late June?

We are next door at Camp Hatteras. I must say the new KOA clubhouse/office/whatever is pretty impressive. They also have a new paved entrance that is about 4 lanes deep. This area has been clobbered with bad weather ever since Sandy last fall, and it shows.

RE: Goodyear RV Tire site pressures sound right?

Assuming you have confidence in the weights, go with the chart. I had my coach weighed for the first time last week and ended up reducing the pressure in my duals by 40 psi, and the steer tires by 20 psi. It no longer feels like I'm running 22.5" rocks.

RE: OBX Cape Hatteras KOA in late June?

Headed there in a couple of days. Saturday can't get here fast enough.

RE: Nuances of driving a DP

I tried leaving the engine/exhaust/PAC/whatever brake on 24/7, but it just got to be a huge PITA. I leave it off unless I'm in the mountains or exiting the interstate. Mine is in econ mode nearly all the time.

RE: Disney World RV/Work opportunities

I can tell you that Disney is -very- careful about employees "living" on-site. It has to do with the way Disney World is regulated. What exactly do you mean?

RE: Room smells AWFUL when I wash clothes

Make sure the door seals and surrounding areas are clean. Front load washers often have an issue with odor there.

RE: Goodbye forever I-95 and New Jersey!

As if I-95 in Northern VA isn't bad enough already, construction of the new HOT lanes seems to have created 24/7 traffic jams. I have made about a half dozen trips into DC over the past two weeks at different hours of the day and evening, and none of those trips have been without stop and go traffic, either from construction or accidents. It's the worst I have seen in the 10 years I have lived here. Anyone traveling along this corridor should avoid I95 at all costs, or have plenty of BP meds handy.

RE: W.Virginia Trn.Pike $$$ ???

Other roads for the most part crooked, narrow, and have lots of coal truck traffic. With the exception of the coal trucks, that's what the turnpike was like when I was growing up there.

RE: My new RV Garage

I actually sold that old horse stable for $600 and the guy tore it down and hauled it away. Now there's a man who could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. Well done sir.

RE: A Fun Time In Virginia:)

What is the geography of the trail between Abingdon and Damascus? I'm reading of the the outfitters that take you to the top of the mountains and you have a downhill ride of several miles. If I begin my trek in Abingdon and headed southeast towards Damascus, what is that terrain like? Is that going to be an uphill ride?

RE: Florida Keys

Another vote for Bluewater Key. Nothing else comes close that I've seen down there.

RE: WHY WAS I NOT TOLD AT THE DEALER??

I hate threads like this. If you are going to post a problem, at least hang around long enough so people who are trying to help you can do so.

RE: New Class A Diesel Newmar - Have some questions

I thought the white switch was for the cargo are lights, but all the basement lights are all manual it seems, and the switch had no bearing on whether they turned on or not. Red switch mirror heat...that makes sense. Any ideas on the LP switch? Why would they allow you to turn the LP detector off I wonder (if that is indeed what the switch does). Thanks for the help so far! You turn the LP detector off when the coach is in storage. Otherwise, it slowly drains the batteries.

RE: Pilot/ Flying J Discount Card

I have a tough time understanding why I should get a Pilot/Flying J membership card which is just something else to keep up with. If you get 80 gallons of fuel at $4.06 the card gives you a total discount of $1.60 on gas and $2.40 on diesel. If I use my American Express or Mastercard I get between $9.74 and $16.24 (3-5%)What am I missing here? You are not missing anything since the pennies or dimes involved are what is important to you. Here's what is important to me: I'm not retired. When I am on the road, I want to get where I'm going quickly and without hassle. With the Pilot/FJ card, I will guarantee you I am the quickest in and out at the truck Islands. Virtually every other patron does the old routine; Pull-in, fill-up, pull-up, go inside and pay. That final step is often a time consuming PITA. The Pilot/FJ card allows me to pull-in, swipe, fuel-up, and get the hell out of there. This is important to me, especially on a day like my return from Key West over the holidays where I drove straight thru from St Augustine to home. For me, that time savings is worth far more than a few pennies on the gallon I MIGHT save somewhere else or with some other credit card. As always, YMMV. :-)

RE: Pilot/ Flying J Discount Card

I seriously do not understand why all one has to do is mention Pilot/Flying J on here and inevitably the thread turns into a bash fest. Some of you come across as jilted lovers.
