RE: Unsafe at any speed....

Question regarding the "age" of the tires as you state... Is the age you state based upon when you purchased the tires or RV? Or is it based upon the age in the DOT code stamped on the sidewall?
Terryallan:
The tires that failed last year were four years old, not seven. The original tires went three years, the Hercules (the second set) went four and all four failed. Hercules thought they were defective or they wouldn't have written a check to compensate.
The spare tire that blew up two days ago was seven years old with a total of 50 miles of use. No checking or sidewall cracking, check the photos.
The spare tire on my wife's car is 12 years old. I've had tires last for many years without blowing up while sitting still. I guess I don't see your logic here.

RE: Top tier gasoline.

I can only compliment Big Oil on making the refining of petroleum such a mystery that folks that buy it every week are clueless as to what they are getting.
They get something that makes their car go vrooooom!

RE: Diesel generator for 5th wheels?

Just order the generator prep and go to electricgenerators.com and get a 4000 watt generac propane model. Very lightweight, very fuel efficient, enough of power to recharge your batteries and run one AC unit if you have to. All for around $2500. I have one in my Montana and have no issues at all. Generac was bought out by Briggs and Stratton a few years ago and really upped the quality.
That domain name doesn't exist...

RE: Is it safe to load a big touring motorcycle into a TH??

Old? What's I've seen in toy haulers--the few I've run across in this part of the world--is things like dirt bikes and 'four wheelers'....not a mongo harley electraglide
Two of my "four wheelers" outweigh your bike by a good bit.

RE: From a class A to a 5th wheel

Traveled with friends that have a 38' MH we were in 55 mph winds coming in from the side and we were rock solid with rig in sig below and they were all over the road.
Bottom line get a dually with that length of RV.
While I don't disagree that in general terms, the ride will be better in a truck/trailer than a MH... The above is hyperbole.
What the he!! is "hyperbole" ?

RE: rv windows

Thermo Pane is a registered trademark brand name, registered in 1941 by Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company. . Dual pane windows is the generic term used to imply a insulated double pane window.

RE: Help with truck capabilities

It's always amusing to me to see the self-styled experts bash people who are expressing an opinion: "lawsuit myth" "legally" means you don't know what you're talking about, etc.
I wonder how many of the people tossing around the "lawsuit myth" term have ever earned their living in a courtroom and can back up their arrogance with experience?
At least one that I know of.

My basic message is quite simple: stay within the Manufacturer's specs and you avoid all potential litigation situations that exceeding the ratings could cause.

RE: which teeny car for toy hauler?

I've had both a Miata and a Honda S2000. S2000 was a great little fun car to run around in. Not much of a highway car though - too much road noise.
Back when I had a TH....

RE: which teeny car for toy hauler?

Just keep in mind when looking at THs most only rate the garage areas at about 2,000 lbs. Good Luck.......
Mine has 5200 lb axles and it weighs 6500 dry.
Does that mean I could carry a 3500 lb car?
Sorry no, mine has a 4500 lb cargo rating but the garage is only rated at 2000 lbs, I have 7000lb axles................. Check the garage rating on what ever you are looking at.......................
Why would there be a "garage rating" that is separate and different from an overall "cargo rating"? That would be the first I've heard of that.

RE: Help with truck capabilities

Dry weight is only useful for the carrier transporting it to the dealer, it is absolutely meaningless for our purposes. You need to be concerned with the trailer's gross weight rating which on that unit will far exceed your truck's towing capacity. Can you tow it? Probably. Can you tow it safely and legally? NO!!!
As soon as you use the word "legally", you expose the fact that you don't know what you're talking about.
Good idea or not, the law has nothing to do with it.Careful with that! While overloading is technically NOT illegal in terms of getting a ticket, it can cause a bucketful of grief in terms of civil liability if you are overloaded and involved in an accident.
Please stop with the fear-mongering.
It doesn't matter if you are carrying a paperclip, or an Abrams tank on your trailer..... If someone THINKS you're negligent, they can file a civil suit against you.... Even if you're declared "not guilty"... Ask OJ.. LOL
