RE: A New Arrival at the Rainbow Bridge

Hugs to you during this difficult time. What a lucky cat to have been part of your family. I also have a cat from a hoarding situation. They are soemthing else. This loor little one is deaf and has gastrointestinal issues. Every day she looks for "something" and screams while she is. Then she comes out with a play mouse, a sock something. It seems like its her "baby". She will wake right out of a sleep and go thorough the ordeal. Its funny but I wish I understood her more. RIP beautiful kitty I am sure you are missed dearly by your family.

RE: Dreaming of sitting on a beach somewhere warm...

40 cm here in Nova Scotia and its 9:36pm and still snowing and now its windy. we are getting the second storm. I hate winter. My cats are all inside and enjoying their sleep on the bed. The Himmilayan that is shaved is some happy to be inside for this storm.

RE: my new rescue is a Himalayan Tortie Point

I even called the police and the RCMP to see if someones house was broken into and the cat stolen or got out and nothing. So I guess she has been abandoned. She is fine here until we get her a new home. She does seem to like soft food better. She is out of the kennel when we are home and likes to snuggle and is feeling quite comfortable. But I do know this is not the right home for her so we will do what we can to find that perfect place for her. We bought her a sweater just in case the power goes out in this horrible storm. Dont know that she will like it but we dotn want her to get cold if the power is off for too long. thanks everyone. keep safe if you are in this blizzard zone. gonna be lots of lost animals which is sad.

RE: my new rescue is a Himalayan Tortie Point

well no owners found yet. I am taking her this morning to see if she is microchipped and if not than its time to rehome her. I have tried every avenue available to me to find her owner and nothing. I even went outside of our county just incase someone was travelling and lost her. Maybe she was just dumped. She is doing well. eating and resting comfortabley. she still growls at my guys but there are 10 of them and 1 of her. we leave her out of the kennel when we are home and she loves to get on the back of Andys chair and snuggle into his neck.

RE: Newly Adopted Shelter Dog

Black dogs are intimidating to other dogs just because of the color so if your lab is black that could be part of it. To her it looks like a big ball of something as dogs are colorblind. Food agression comes from not being able to find enough food to eat and she can overcome that once she realizes there will always be food. it will take time but I think you can turn this dog around with a little love and lots of time.

RE: my new rescue is a Himalayan Tortie Point

The chip reader at the vets is broken and its been really cold here, since she is shaved I didnt want to take her back out in the cold. It is suppose to warm up in the next few days and one of the other clinics said they would check her to see if she has one. I have exhausted every avenue I know. Its weird. I have a lady in Halifax about 90 minutes from here who runs a lost and found fb page mostly for the halifax area but she does cover all the province. She is checking her records for me to see if she can find anything.. Am sending a pic of her tonight so she can see her and that may help.
Somebody has got to be missing this cat

RE: my new rescue is a Himalayan Tortie Point

I was hoping to get some info from real live people who actually have one of these cats. I know nothing about purebred cats- what they eat, their behaviours nothing and I am trying my best to do the best for this cat. Dr Doug anything? So far I have tried everything and not one knows anyone who lost this cat.

my new rescue is a Himalayan Tortie Point

Does anyone know anything about these cats? This one is a spayed 5 yr old female that was outside for about 2 weeks in the freezing -30C weather last week. She had to be lion shaved as she was so matted. Do they ike other cats? do they eat special food? Any advice would be great. I have tried everywhere and everything to find an owner and nothing. I even have someonw who has a site for lost cats for the province checking it out and nothing. I will keep her until I find an owner or rehome her to someone who wants this type of cat. Always said it doesnt matter if they are purebreed or not when they are no longer wanted out they go.

RE: Jazz and Jewel are going to their new home UPDATED

thank you everyone. I did up a going away basket for them and gave the new mom the rest of the money to go towards their needles and spay. she met me at the vets this morning to ask the vet any questions about their health etc. she took them home tonight. she just let me know that Jazz is hiding under the chair and Jewel is behind the washer and her cat Willow is growling at them. It will only take a couple of days and they will be fine. I am so blessed to have such support in my own community and on this forum. Its nice to bring a happy ending to a very sad story in the beginning. Thank you all for your good thoughts and well wishes for these two kittens. I will never stop advocating for those that need my help. As long as I can raise money to help them I will do just that. One by one!!!

RE: THIS PERSON!!!

the place i got all of the cats fixed at and took the kittens from is a hoarding situation. our provincial spca investigators were there, saw the cats outside didtn go near them just said they look good and left her a big bag of food. they didnt want to deal with it because the cats were feral and there is no place to put them and they didtn want to euthanize them as they paint the pic that they are no kill here in nova scotia. so they left her with the cats of which 5 were pregnant, 2 of them had 4 kittens each the other 3 had theirs aborted but were all carrying 4 each so that would have been 20 kittens, 15 cats plus the 2 from upstairs and the 4 kittens from her own cats litter.

Jazz and Jewel are going to their new home UPDATED

Well tomorrow Jazz will get her stitiches out from her eye surgery and she and Jewel will have their last check up before going to their new home. their new mom is coming to the vets too so if she has any questions she can ask them then. I will miss them dearly but I know that this is best for them as I have enough of my own and they deserve a home where they will be pampered and spoiled more than I can do.
It has been a long 3 months but it was worth every minute. When I took them home they were both near death. I really didnt think Jazz would make it just from the infection and the starvation she was going through. Jewel was in not much better shape. They were so flea ridden it was disgusting. Poor things only 2 months old. I have money left over to get them their 2nd set of needles and some to go towards their spay in another 2 months.
Glad I could save their lives. I not only helped them but I helped my soul also. It sure feels good to make a difference in an animals life and I am glad I was able to save them.

RE: Pawsitive Thoughts for kittens eye surgery today please

Yes finally Jewel is over her "mad". they play together and eat together now. It didnt look good for 3 days though. Jazz is doing very well. We keep her in the kennel at night and when we are not home just so that no one pulls her stitiches with no one home. My 10 are all adults and love to play with the kittens but play hard sometimes. Stitches come out this Saturday!

Jazz is feeling fine. I really think she didnt have much vision in the eye as she is running and playing just like before surgery. It did not out her out one bit. Jewel is still growling I hope she will give in soon and become friends again

Jewel has been growling at her since she came home and doesnt want anything to do with her. I hope this is just because of the vet smells
