RE: Black tank won't drain...

Are you sure the valve is functional?

RE: Fresh water pump problems

Make sure you clean all your faucet screens WELL, especially the one that wasn't working. ;) if one works but other doesn't...that happens often. If its more than one spot (did you flush toilet? Check bathroom and kitchen faucet?) then maybe it's an air lock issue. Lastly. Not sure of your rig but 25 gallons isn't much in my fresh tank and it takes some time to pressurize that much "empty space"

RE: Bought the wrong motorhome!!!

I haven't seen any class A that is "ideal" for four adults and three kids, especially for two weeks...unless you all already share a studio apartment. ;) Class A and deer hunting....yeah, not ideal especially if you tag one or more (avid hunter here) IMHO those two arrangements would be best served with a two bedroom rig, ie a fifth wheel or TT

RE: Starting a diesel every 30 days.

EXERCISING THE GENSET Exercise the genset at least 2 hours each month if use is infrequent. Run the genset at approximately 1/2 rated power. See LOADING THE GENSET (Page 8). A single two hour exercise period is better than several shorter periods. Exercising a genset drives off moisture, re-lubricates the engine, replaces stale fuel and removes oxides from electrical contacts. The result is better starting, more reliable operation and longer engine life. As one can read nothing is in the manual to start a generator that is in storage every month. IF USE IS INFREQUENT for the past month THEN run it for two hours under load to blow out the carbon and build up of crud. :W THIS is how I "treat" all my Diesel engines. From Moho to truck to tractors to generators. Really run em, or don't.

RE: Adieu Good Friends

HEY....WAIT A MINUTE JDelauter....Rookie Rver here :C....don't go. When you say, "good-bye" that means forever and it shouldn't be. As the Rookie Rver :C I NEED your wisdom. You may not be able to sit in your own driver seat anymore but you sure can provide guidance, suggestions, tips, etc. to Rookies like me when I sit in my driver seat....... I gotta agree with this!

RE: One thing after another...slide help

Electric or hydraulic slide? Did the lady tell you how to close it manually? Have you gone to the Newmar forum? If not, here is the link..should be some help for you there. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/ Electric It is closed. Won't open. But yes I know how to close manually if needed.

RE: One thing after another...slide help

Sounds to me like a "sensor" is missaligned. I have automatic slide locks, but this might help If your slides are electric find your slide controller (one for each slide, mine are in the back of basement on the frame rail), activate one of the working slides and watch the lights on the controller, then activate your bad slide and watch the lights on that controller. If you can find a pdf file for your controller it should tell you what each light means. Ok, I'll try that!

RE: One thing after another...slide help

Not sure I can take much more. Every trip something fails. On way to state college the steps failed, driveshaft fell on ground in pieces at fuel stop. Had to bungee te steps up and go buy entry steps AFTER the step assist bar SNAPPED(inside one) in half trying to lift myself in the coach. So I have some work ahead of me there. Wow, glad you made it home safe. To clarify.....I was speaking of the driveshaft of the step mechanism NOT the chassis driveshaft! Lol. That would put me in a whole other level of disgusted. :E

RE: One thing after another...slide help

If the engine turns over(it does) and the Genny starts fine(it does) and the other three, albeit smaller, slides work fine does this suggest its NOT my batteries? Maybe slide motor just quit? I looked for an idiot reset button on the slide motor but found none.

RE: One thing after another...slide help

x2 for the slide locks - if you have it - hold the button for a good 10 seconds in the unlock side then try the slide. If that doesn't work, look for the slide controllers (if electric)(could be one for each). I have seen a few of those go bad, the last one even had a big red X on it which told me it had a problem at the factory and they put it on anyway. If hydraulic it could be a bad solenoid. I have also seen bad switches (do you have one for each slide?). I have manual slide locks. Yes, each slide has its own switch. The drivers slide wall slide(the biggest of the 4) is the only one that doesn't work. When working normally that is also the only switch that triggers the safety message. When I push it now the message still works but no slide movement. Messing with the seat did nothing. Also, I never got the impression that the slides were over safety-Ized. I'm pretty sure that even if a tree on the outside or a chair on the inside was in the slides way that it wouldn't stop the slides motion until structural failure made it stop or I took my finger off the button. So, and this is a rookie question, the slides operate off the chassis not the house batts? Earlier this year I had to bypass my 12v relay(which I've since replaced myself) to get the slides and/or all other 12v "stuff"???? Thanks guys and gals One day I might know enough to help others Funny thing, I still love the dang thing! Just got done winterizing her about 15 min ago.

RE: One thing after another...slide help

Suggest you check your house batteries. Check the grounds and all connections. No luck? Call Newmar speak to "Phil" he can tell you what is wrong and how to fix it. Will the generator start? Yes, genny starts. Actually everything else works perfectly, ummmm except the steps! And the grab rail. D'oh!!!

One thing after another...slide help

Not sure I can take much more. Every trip something fails. On way to state college the steps failed, driveshaft fell on ground in pieces at fuel stop. Had to bungee te steps up and go buy entry steps AFTER the step assist bar SNAPPED(inside one) in half trying to lift myself in the coach. So I have some work ahead of me there. Now. At home. Trying to unpack the coach for the season one of 4 slides will not budge. Checked all fuses. Fine. Switches fine. Even when I depress the switch the Newmar lady speaks "all seat backs must be blah blah blah" then nothing. Slide won't go out. Mind you less than 24 hours ago all slides worked flawlessly. I can see why these rigs are for retired folk. I can't make one trip without at least one thing failing. This time it's three. Any suggestions on the slide issue would be appreciated. I tried a 12v reset. I tried turning the engine over and resetting that safety switch. I checked all fuses. I pulled the switch which looked good. Don't mind using my local dealer but would rather save the time/expense. Oh yeah, anyone know where one could find a replacement interior grab hold bar for an 08 3916 ksdp? I haven't truly assessed the step issue yet.....

RE: Extended Warranty?

After MUCH research, including questions and helpful info analysis posted and received on here, I decided to take my chances... I have intimate dealing with insurance companies, and far too well know they do EVERYTHING they can to NOT pay for a claim. for the price they wanted for my coach, 4-6K/year i will keep my $ in the bank and insure myself. fortunately i have enough in the bank to pay for a new motor if need be and i dont have a loan on my rig if i didnt have the reserves to pay for a catastrophe AND i had a loan on my RV i might think quite differently however

RE: Need independent motorcoach inspector

If you are knowledgable in the "house" workings of an RV and the seller would let you fluid test the tranny fluid, motor oil and coolant i personally would never get another RV inspection. the one i got from a "reputable" company was as useful as my 3 home and 1 commercial property inspections have been. basically, I COULDA TOLD MYSELF THAT! just my $0.02

RE: questions about selling MH to person with financing

DON NOT EVER, EVER, give the buyer the TITLE until the proceeds have cleared. The financing company he is using will likely request a COPY of the title and that is fine (assuming you have the title in hand) a simple agreement of sale should be done first with names/addresses of buyer and seller with purchase price and VIN on there. Also specify that the vehicle and title will not be delivered until all proceeds have cleared. I took a $500 deposit upon the signing of that AOS. i just sold my fifth wheel, the process was simple. I also made it a point to call the financing company (using a number I LOCATED, not one I was provided) and verify, once the check cleared I fedex'd the title to the new owner and they came to pick it up. IF the buyer is using a financing company THEY, NOT THE BUYER, get the title...and trust me, IF a buyer is using a financing company they will be sure to dot their i's and cross their t's...just DONT GIVE UP THE VEHICLE OR TITLE TO ANYONE, ANYONE, UNTIL PROCEEDS HAVE CLEARED, NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS.
