RE: Roomba Vacuum Cleaners for Stick Home

Every time I hear the word, I can't help but recall the skit that Saturday Nite Live did years ago called "Woomba" hahahaha

RE: Suggestions wanted for small travel trailer

Going to be very hard to find all you want in something the Jetta will tow. The casita's are great but will require more tow capacity than you have.

RE: What TV do we need?

And if you are using the truck as a daily driver, the 4.10 will kill the mpg when not towing as well. Get more truck than you think you will need, wish I would have ordered mine as a 350 instead of the 250. Hindsight is 20/20 :) Dean

RE: Major downsize, anyone else?

Just sold my Four Winds trailer and will only have the casita now. Perfect for myself, although I do miss having lots of storage. Would like to get a nice Class A later on when we retire and have more time on the road together. Since it is just me now I don't need much room. Dean

RE: RVs on the road to Florida

I'm in Florida now. Diesel has gone from 3.79 back in mid-Jan to about $4.30 now. By the time we get ready to head home, we may not be able to afford the fuel to get there. Could be stranded here until the price comes down. That could be a while. Haha, good way to talk yourself into staying longer :) But from what I have read, it may not come back down, ever. If so there will a lot of good deals on big rigs in the next year or so. I just got back a couple weeks ago and diesel was around 4-4.20/gal with the highest price in Ga. Leaving this Sunday to go back to Key West but this time in my wife's Honda minivan. Still will be expensive for just gas.

RE: 2013 F150 payload low?

I think it would be more disappointing to buy a big bad 3/4 ton diesel with 2000 lb payload than a standard 1/2 ton with 1500 lb payload. Yep it sure is a bite in the you know what. I have about 1800lb payload in my big "heavy duty" F250 powerstroke. Been thinking about a new F150 with the HD payload package to get some real payload capacity ;)

RE: RV Storage around Lexington

I have done my boats in the High Bridge caves before. You need to get in the dehumidified section or you risk getting mold since it is damp.

RE: Wow, price to have a TC-Port was ridiculous

If you already have one the other side, wouldn't the new one be the exact same design? Sounds like you could just copy it and be fine? I agree that sounds way too high.

RE: Casita's... Thinking About Getting One

I have had mine almost a year now. Have only taken it on 2 trips, about 3000 mile each, and love pulling it. But you have to learn to pick up after yourself as you go. I travel alone and it gets small but is fine for just me. No tank indicators from Casita but you could install them if you wanted to. I did a couple mods to mine that help increase the gray tank capacity.

RE: Honda eu2000i -- Premium gas?

I did have some problems running mine at about 4500' with the AC and converter. It seemed like a large load compared to running at sea level.

RE: Gas Mileage (newbie)

Capt Ron, after you raise your trailer it will catch even more wind, and you already know what that means. I get around 10.5-11.5 mpg pulling my full profile TT with the Powerstroke. I get about 14 mpg pulling my casita. It is ALL about aerodynamics, and of course speed.

RE: caution using Mike's RV center in Madera, CA

carjon: why wouldn't he assume the owner wanted synthetic oil? i run syn in all my cars, and the rv too. for the extra cost for 6 quarts in mine, why not? I don't use, and have never used, anything but dino oil in my vehicles and boats. If you change your oil at the recommended miles then this has never let me down. But the oil change place does try and talk me into synthetics eveytime. To each their own but the shop should have talked to the OP before giving him the 'lube job' :)

RE: caution using Mike's RV center in Madera, CA

Mike, seems like YOU should have told him the options instead of just 'believing' he would want your most expensive oil???

RE: How many cylinders do you maintain?

34 (boat is 16 of those) Not counting 2 mowers, tractor, generator, chainsaw, trimmers, blower.

RE: New EcoBoost F150.

The Ford F150 Eco Boost and Ford F250 are both on our very short list for different reasons. Debating between the 3.55 or the 3.73 axle on the F150. It would be our every day driver. DH will be gone 105 days at a stretch so techically whatever we get would only be driven once a week. Personally, I think the F250 is too large of a vehicle and the F150 would be fine. I know! I know! "You can never have too much TV". Get the Heavy Duty Payload package and it will handle as just about as much as the F250. Do not confuse that with the Max Tow package as they are very different. You have to get the 3.73 limited slip with this option.

RE: Voltage drop for AC whats acceptable?

Just make sure they give you the correct wiring drawing for the voltage you want. I was given the wrong one with too much boost and need to redo it. Not hard to do but requires an experienced person to wire nut all the connections properly. Dean

RE: Voltage drop for AC whats acceptable?

I just recently started using a Buck Boost Transformer on my boat. The dock supplied voltage is around 112-115 but as soon as my AC load is put on it drops to around 103-105. Sometimes lower if a lot of other boats are there on a hot weekend. I can hear the difference when the compressors kick on. With my gen running the voltage stays above 120 with full loads on. After several years of fighting with the marina to fix it, I got the buck boost. Wihs I done it years ago as I have less than $200 in it with a new shore power cord I attached it too. The only thing I worry about is these do not have a voltage regulator. The transformer gives me 135 volts without a load, then drops to 124 with a load. The transformer is wired to boost 15% and I had thought about changing to 10%. My electrician says the higher volts will do no harm but if we ever get real voltage at the marina it could be a problem. I suppose a voltage regulator can be installed after the buck boost?

RE: Trailers with less wind resistance?

I have a full profile Four Winds and get around 11 mpg pulling it. I also have a Casita and get about 14+ mpg pulling it, although I probably drive a bit fast with it. Not as much of an increase as I expected, however the Casita pulls so much easier that after a days driving I am not nearly as tried since it tucks right in behind me. Dean

Lake Cumberland State Park is nice if you want to be near water.
