RE: Wisconsin Fall Rally October 9th - 11th 2009

Kerene and I had a really good time, but then, we stayed in a nice warm cabin, coming out only to eat and visit. :B It was really great seeing everybody again and really gratifying to see how much the group has grown since we first started acting foolish. We met a lot of new people, and our organizers did great with the planned activities.
We are looking forward to next October, but just to make sure we got there first, we have already reserved cabin G again. :B:B:B
I think Julie Mik and a the other finger burned dutch oven cooks should plan a dutch oven feast next year, just to see what we can come up with. We can't all do brownies and dump cakes though.

As for extra bunks . . . you want a Mik Kid for the weekend? :B :B :B
trying to get rid of the crappy Mik daughter :B
I cannot imagine a worse punishment for an adolescent girl than a weekend with a psychotherapist. ;) I like the Mik kids though, all of them.

Good weather for hanging out around the campfire or space heater and BS'ing about the weather or something. Do they have heat in those cabins? Kerene and I will have a couple of extra bunks I think. :B

RE: Any 'new' species' in North America 'waiting to be found' ?

Finding a completely new species is probably not likely, but new sub-species, different because they have adapted to a specific biological niche, happens all the time.Subspecies

RE: I want one of those mowers

Husqvarna- Something I can't pronounce but which fills my garden shed. :B
Speaking of visitations on neighbors, I have a new Husqvarna leaf blower. What is the etiquette if you are out blowing your leaves around in your yard and some of them just blow next door? Do you have to go get them?

RE: NO Medicare increase !!

Medicare has saved several hundred dollars this year out of my pocket so far this year. It takes them months to pay.

RE: I want one of those mowers

If they invent a snowblower that works that way, I will buy one. I can get Kerene to mow the lawn in warm weather, but she is hard starting when the snow is falling.

Well, I already carry a man-bag, and like ABBA music, so I fear that I will have to draw the line someplace. There will be exhaust smoking in my yard at least until my tastes in music change.

RE: A question about mean girls in school

Human nature allows us to eat each other if we are hungry. I would not fall back on that to justify the inhumane treatment of others.
The problem is just not one person, and the alienation of individuals in our school systems are a common driving factor in a multitude of social ills, including dropping out of school, turning to a deviant sub-group, or any of several other outcomes which are far less than optimal.

RE: A question about mean girls in school

They learn this from their mothers and they learn it at a very young age. Girls are forming clicks by the time they are in kndergarten.
Women have a PhD in relationships by the age of 2 1/2 and whenever I hear men talking about how they are handling things their way, I mark them down as clueless.
The bad news is that it makes them very sensitive and vulnerable to slights by others. Sometimes, if they rise to positions of power, the men in their settings suffer due to typical male cluelessness.
Knowing that hasn't saved me.

I do not have the words for a problem like this.. but a very good friend of mine does.. And, since he is a singer, He recorded it
Click here for the lyrics and guitar notation.
Note that there is a reason that Mr. Roper and I have met, and became friends.
This song.... has a lot to do with it.
That song could be the theme playing in the background of a lot of therapy sessions. Lots of truth in it.

RE: "Background" music??

That center speaker in a surround sound system is the most expensive one of the lot for a reason. There is something else going on too, we are getting older and our ears don't work as well as they used to.
Symptoms
If you have a good amp, you can boost the output of the middle speaker as well as the voice range frequencies.
Our 7.1 surround sound system is so good that noises off set frequently come across on the rear speakers. Sort of jarring during a movie, like the Llamas in the movie Troy. :B

RE: Why Is The USPS Losing Money?

It's funny how people like to talk on both sides of their face. Everytime they want to stop Saturday delivery people complain. BTW the only thing the USPS tracks with a tracking # is Express Mail. They have delivery confirmation # that shows when it was delivered if you pay extra but it's not a tracking # like UPS or Fedex. The USPS is losing money because it has to deliver mail to every house in the US six days a week and there is no company on the planet that is going to make money doing that. And it can't raise the price to cover actual operating costs because it has the kiss the butt of the USPS Board of Governors to get any kind of rate increase.
I wish that they would charge the originator what it costs to deliver all the bumfodder to my mailbox six days a week. :B
