I use "Camping with the COE" book by Wright, But I only look for the COE campground in a given location. I then go on-line for more details because I normally make reservations.

To keep the cabinet doors closed, I tie the doors together with an old shoe lace. I have also seen people use bungee cords. You are luck that it was not heavy "glass plates" on her head

Waterton is a "vacation" "town" inside the park. The town is like any vacation town. Lots of small shops etc. I have never camped there but I think(?) I saw camping in what looked like commercial campgrounds. (Check the Canada forum). If you can camp at Waterton the kids may be happy (more other teenagers) than camping at Glacier.
Remember, you will need passports to return to USA. Edit: Sorry, I only not look to see you are from Canada.
Glacier is for walking. Not a vacation town.

Just North of Florence there is a little known National Forest Campground on Sutton Beach Rd. It is very easy to miss. It is across US 101 from Darlingtonia State Wayside. Very quiet but the sites are tight.
I found NF SUTTON CAMPGROUND, but per GPS map it looks to be about a mile from the beach. There is also Habor Vista County Park that appears to be on the beach
South of Florence is Waxmyrtle National Forest Campground.
Carter Lake National Forest Campground is close to the dunes.
EEL Creek National Forest Campground.
These all in the Siuslaw National Forest. Siuslaw National Forest Campgrounds
OP: Your stolen photo I think is some private lots, not a campground.
I think Kirk Creek CA
OR Parks are nice but they are pricing themselves out of business. No they do not give any discounts.
Klaloch south beach is very nice when you get that far north. I would stay at South Beach before staying in main park.
There is couple federal campgrounds in CA, just south of the OR border in the Redwoods. Close to Crescent City.

Tillicum Beach in OR just south on Waldport is one of our favorites. Will be there this summer.
This looks like it is a State Park. Does OR take the federal senior discount card?

CA-OR-WA Coast -- Trip Planning for 2014

I am planning a 12 to 20 month trip from TN to CA - OR - WA. I want to stay at campgrounds like the one above. I am not interested in STATE parks (too expensive). I like FEDERAL parks so I can use my "old guy" pass.
Camping at the campground in the above photo for 1/2 of $22.00 --- I could stay a month (?) well at less a week without electricity.
Suggestion for federal campgrounds on with a water view are welcome.

the farthest from the summer months you make your reservations, the better chance you have.
...... we prefer the spring, since the falls are full and roaring. but the fall is also a great time.
How early in the Spring would you suggest :h ?

Yosemite in April 2014 (Should have read March)
Updated 4/3.
I am planing a trip to Yosemite in the spring of 2014. I only now noticed that Upper Pine campground is open YEAR ROUND which was a surprise to me. Has anyone camp in the valley in April? I should have said March. Sorry for the error -- Old age ???
Snow on roads? and campsite?

XP cannot natively access a 3TB hard drive without a helper utility like the Disk Wizard.
Connect the 3TB dive to a Windows Vista or Windows 7 PC and get the data off of the affected partition before you mess with it.
1. Note I did use Disk Wizard
2. I do have a good (?) backup of the data, but I still do NOT want to loose it an have to depend on the backup.

WinXP 32 bit 3TB Drive Unallocated ??????
OS is WinXP Pro 32 bit on "C" drive. I have a Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001 I use for data. I used Seagate's Disk Wizard to set up a 2TB "K" partition and a 1TB (700 ? gb) "L" partition. All was working well.
However, I had to restore my OS on the C drive to a time before I had the 3TB drive installed. After restoring the OS, Windows did not see the 3TB drive.
I reinstall Seagate Disk Wizard and after rebooting, WinXP saw the 2TB "K" partition, but the 1TB "L" partition is UNALLOCATED.
1. I attempted to Allocate the "L" partition and got the following errors

RE: Rest Stops/Truck Stop Layovers
The problem with rest areas, is the noise. Much more noise than at a truck stop. Well maybe the truck stop is noise, but it is "constant white" noise. At a rest area it is 18 wheelers pulling in and out all the time.

RE: What do you do with your photos?
First, I save them to my hard drive and back up to an external HD. Then I post them for free on picasa.com and share them with the world. After about 1,000 photos, the free storage on picasa get full I remove the old ones and add new ones. This way my family and friends can enjoy my photos. RE: Electrical blanket does not get hot anymore
Pardon me for asking but what are the symptoms? No light on in the controller?
The controller appears to work OK -- the light is on. Turned to HI. At night the trailer temp drops to low 60's or even 50's. The blanket is between the sheet and 3 light weight quilts. The blanket puts out heat doing the "fold test" but not enough heat like to old one did.

Electrical blanket does not get hot anymore
My 10 year + old electrical blanket died. I purchased a new one. Now I learn that the new electrical blankets do not get hot like the old style did. My feet are cold at night.
Is this true for all brands or only the Sunbeam one?
Any suggestion?

RE: PROTECTING RIG FROM DAMAGE IN ALASKA
Any damage we ever incurred was in the lower 48 while going to or returning from Alaska, NEVER in Alaska and we have traveled 20,000+ miles in the state over the years.
I have had 4 rock chips in the windshield in the lower 48. NONE in AK. Maybe 25 years ago AK roads were a problem and we continue to hear the "old wife's tales". Not now. When my sister went to AK about 15 years ago, her DH put a "bra" on the front of the car. Due to the wind, the bra rub the car and did more damage that a few rocks.

The best place to see Route 66 that a 9 year old will enjoy is Oatman AZ. Drive though the "town" a few miles east up the mountains and she will appreciate how the OLD Route 66 driving was in the 1950's and 1960's. Then drive south to Yuma to see the vegetables growing and east to Tuscon to see the desert.

I disagree somewhat with some of the other posting. A 9 year old can "see" the Grand Canyon in about 2 hours. Because of limited time, my 40 year old "saw" Yellowstone in ONE day. Since I had unlimited time it took me 2 weeks and I still have not saw all.
You need to get the girl involved in the trip. Get maps of each state and let her track the trip. She can be the navigator. If she gets you lost or off track (so what) you are there to see the southwest. Get a good Geographer book and read about each state. Do things that she can use (will study) in school. Stop at each state's welcome center and pick up information on the state. You may have problems with the 9 year old wanting to see all the tourist amusement parks. Take photos that she can post on facebook. Start now,have her create her own BLOG to plan the trip and them write about it.

Near Monument Valley, check out Mexican Hat, Dry camp at Goosenecks State Park, Valley of the Gods, and, if you have a toad, drive up the Moki Dugway,and check out Muley Point at the top.
Personally, I'd skip 4 corners It is a rip-off
Dry camp a night at Second Mesa AZ GPS N35 47.570 W110 29.828 more or less. You can dry camp for free - have lunch - at the Trading Post

and then take a tour of the Hopi Indian town nearby on First (?) Mesa Not far from Canyon de Chelly.

This is not a "Tourist" place, but real Hopi Indians as they live today. Thank you US government for taking such good care of them.
