RE: What a bummer!!!!!

I do a lot of grinding and know that anything can be ground off. I do not know why you have to remove the capture plate but call a real welder and get his opinion. He will get it removed if it must be.

RE: B&W Companion Hitch Front to Back Adjustment

I don't see how 2 or even 6 inches would make that much difference. I went from a short bed to an 8' bed and the hitch may have moved 10" or so further back and I can't tell much difference.
The hitch has to fit in a certain position relative to he axle if properly installed. My B&W companion has 3 adjustments front to back and 3 up and down. I have mine in the forward holes and middle up and down which makes my rig slightly nose high.

RE: Good Colorado Springs Camp Ground?

We like Pikes Peak RV Park in Manitou Springs. IMO Manitou Springs is a much better place to stay than Col.Spgs.

12v to 120 v water pump

I am thinking of going from a 12v to 120v pump for adding extra water to tank when boondocking. My 12v pump is going bad. Comments/suggestions? Also is anyone using a 120v macerator pump? Comments/suggestions?

RE: Verizon cell phones in Canada

Thanks for info. We are also going to spend 42 days traveling the Alaskan Marine Highway. Will be leaving from Prince Rupert and making 6 stops of a week long each except for Juneau, 2 weeks, then off at Haines. I'm assuming that there might be a tower in those towns.

Verizon cell phones in Canada

I did a search before posting and did not find much information. We have Verizon service and would like to hear from those that used them. How is the service and can you get a good deal for usage?

RE: 12ga v. 10ga Solar Panel Wiring

I would go with the 10ga. for three reasons:
1. Price difference is negligible.
2. Less loss of voltage.
3. In the event you wish to add additional panels, the heavier wiring will already be there. Do it right the first time.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

The only part of Alaska we are doing is 43 days, inside passage by AMHS. Very excited about that. Starting at Prince Rupert, stopping 6-7 days at Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, Sitka, Juneau(2 weeks), ending at Haines. Spending rest of summer Yukon, BC, and Alberta. Leaving home May 13th and crossing back into US around mid September.

Beaumont, Tx. to Marysville, Wa.

We will leave May 13th, meeting friends in WA. by May 23rd. We want to take the fastest, easiest route. Concerned about weather also. Again, thanks for your help.

RE: Windows 8 apps

In control panel, go into the app for the touchpad and disable all the "gestures" that should stop the right-side menu (the so-called Charms Menu) from appearing.
I assume you have installed Classic Shell or a similar program. Classic Shell also has "switches" to turn off most of the Win 8 features. On my computer I only work in the Desktop mode and have no reason to use the Win 8 tiles mode. Once I discovered that even my Chrome browser had fewer features in Win 8 mode than it did running from the Desktop, I saw no reason to continue using it.
I could not find what you describe above. I don't know what the computer guy did to change my system but I haven't seen anything like Classic Shell in my laptop.

Windows 8 apps

I have had my Windows 8 changed to look and operate like Windows 7. Sometimes when I am reaching for bookmarks in the upper right hand corner of the screen (google) the apps menu screen comes up. I don't like this and want to get rid of it. How can I?

Reservations for Alaska ferry

We made our reservations, traveling with two other couples. Leaving Prince Rupert, BC on June 9. We will stop at Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg for 7 days each. On to Sitka for a 12hr, 45min. ride. We rented a cabin($56) for this leg. In Sitka for 6 days and spending 2 weeks in Juneau and on to Haines ending July 22. Figured if we got tired of Juneau we could change for a small fee. Our cost with 33' fifth wheel, long wheelbase dually, total 51' 1'' charged for 52'. One senior citizen discount. Within the width limits so no surcharge. Total cost is $2398. We thought it would be between $3-4,000.
First, DH said he would do the cruise thing, then said we'll drive to Alaska and backed out on that. He's looking forward to this trip.

RE: Prompt reset

Does it do it in all text programs or just, say, MS Office or Wordpad?
It does it in e-mail also.

Prompt reset

Every time I type something in my computer after a couple of minutes the prompt (cursor) resets to a previous spot in the text. This is very annoying. It may have something to do with saving the text. I am running Windows 8, but as I recall it also did it with 7. Is this the way it is suppose to operate and/or can I correct it?

Alaska marine highway ferry fees for rvs

We are 12'10" in height and wondering if extra charges apply for our height? We know there are extra charges for width and length.

RE: Day night shade repair ???

Most blinds have the manufacturer label somewhere on the bottom rail. It's usually in the hardest to see spot so get ready to stand on your head. I called the manufacturer and they sent me all the string, bushings etc. I wanted along with directions. Mine were 4 string shades and it took me a couple of hours and numerous curse words to finish the first one. After that it gets a lot easier.
