RE: Allergic to chicken ???

When my Macy was having a problem and was getting sick a lot my Vet suggested making sure that I make sure that whatever I fed her did not have Chicken in it. She said that the Chicken would basically absorb water and cause her to feel sick.
I have been feeding both of my Girls Nutra Grain Free Lamb and Potato. Macy has been on this for over six months and has only got sick once or twice.

RE: Warranty work refused

Back in 2003 I purchased a Chevy 1500. My local Dealership gave me their "Best" Price and I just could not make the numbers work so I decided to stick with the Ford Explorer Sport that I had at the time.
A couple of days after I made my decision to keep the Ford a Dealership that I had try to contact on the Internet called. We worked the deal out over the phone. They beat my local Dealership by over $2,500. After I got the truck I stopped at the local Dealership and talked to the Salesman, Who is now a good friend. I told them why I bought it where I did and showed them the paper work. I did not do this to rub it in but when they asked why I did not come back to them to see if they could match the price, I said well you said that you had given me your BEST price and I was not going to play that game.
When I am purchasing something I am not going to play the "Well So and So will sell it for this what about you. I will purchase from whoever gives me "My" Best price as I have a pretty good idea of the right price before I even walk into the Dealership.
For what it's worth I had all of my service done on my Truck at the local Dealership and they always treated me great. This is the reason that I have since purchased 4 new vehicles from them.
As for RV Dealerships, when I purchased my trailers I never had a problem getting work done and for that matter most of the time they were glad to get the work to keep their people working. I a Dealership turns down work either they have a very busy shop or are very stupid.
To the OP, from what you described it sounds like it was a easy fix and their was not a lot of money to be made in the repair. I have to wonder what they would have said if it had been a major repair that would have brought in a good amount of money, warrantied or not?

RE: 5th Wheel Travel with Large Dogs

We travel with our two girls. Macy is 45 pounds and Sandi is 12 pounds. Macy used to get car sick after riding for as little as 30 minutes.
I was wondering around Pet Smart (a dangerous thing for me :-) ) I found a seat cover that attaches to the Front and rear head rests. It has a zipper in the middle so you can drop one side when loading up. Both of the girls really like being in the truck now and Macy has not got sick since I put it in, I guess she feels safer now that she can no longer fall off of the seat.
Here is a link for the seat cover.

Prayers said. Hopefully, you do not have to go through this again. I am not sure what I would do if one of my girls went through this.

RE: Why idle?

The only time I will leave my truck idling is if my Pups are with me. I use the key fob to lock the doors. When I do this it is only for a minute or two. I am sure that the same Cop that would ticket you for idling would also ticket you for leaving a pet in a Hot Truck, WHICH SHOULD NEVER BE DONE! Down here in Florida Cops do look on people that leave pets in hot cars in a very unfavorable light, as they should.
If I am ever ticketed for idling because of my pets, I will fight it in court.

RE: Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection

I wonder what stops their block from rotating on the Kinpin? It looks like it mounts using two locking pins, it looks like these pins sit in the grove on the Kingpin but I see nothing to stop the block from turning on the Kingpin which would be dangerous.
Besides my concerns about the movement on the Kingpin it looks like a cool hitch and if and when I move up to a Dually Long Bed I might just look into getting one.

RE: 2500HD Towing

I tow my 37' R-Vision Toy Hauler with my 2005 2500. I took it to the scale once it was loaded with everything but food and my Harley Trike. I had less than 5,100 pounds on my drive wheels. I do not remember what I grossed out at but it was right around 22,000 pounds, which would put to Toy Hauler at approx 14,400 pounds as the truck is right at 7,600 pounds when ready to tow.
My Truck has done fine and I have towed as much as 500 miles in one day. The only mountains (or Hills to some) were in Northern Georgia and it did fine running in Tow Haul in OD with the cruise control set at 63-65 mph.
Would I rather have a Dually, you bet but my truck is fine for now. It has Air Bags Plus Helper Springs and the tires and rims are good for at least 3,700 pounds each.
Before any of the WP jump in, my DW is a Insurance Agent for many years and I am covered.

RE: New record !

I for one am glad that Ricatic keeps talking about this as even though the chances of having it happen is low, I would flip out is my "New" Truck had a repair bill that high that I had to pay out of pocket.
Everything that is built can fail and I do not care who builds it. All of this bickering is nuts. If someone does not agree with what is posted just state your mind and move on with life.
In all my years of driving I have owned some great Cars and Trucks but I have also owned some real P.O.S.'s, and I have owned cars / trucks from all of the Big 3.
Sometimes I get tired of reading posts on this forum because of all of the Keyboard Cowboys that think that their opinion is the only opinion and will never back off. It makes me wonder how we get any new members to come here and stay after one or two posts after getting jumped on by a "Senior" Member (as if that title means a darn thing).
So, I hope that Ricatic keeps posting if for no other reason than it drives some members nuts just to see his name.

RE: Watch the 2 millionth Cummins engine for the Ram being built

Great Video. I have worked on a lot of Cummins Engines. We used them for driving Cargo Pumps and Generators. Some of the smaller Tugs that I worked on had them as Main Engines. They have always had a great rep.
I have to wonder if whomever got that engine in their new truck knows that it was the 2 Millionth engine. It would be cool if they put a special badge on it. A big customer or supplier probably got it though.

RE: Need a new tow vehicle....opinions?????

My 08 Chevy 2500 4x4 with the 6.0 had no problems pulling my 11,000 TT. Now, I never had it out west but it did fine in the Mountains / Hills in Georgia. One thing, do not plan on passing too many Gas Stations as they are thirsty beasts.

RE: Our beloved dog (Sammie) suddenly died yesterday

I am so very sorry for your loss but I am glad that she had your DW there to comfort her when the time came.
Losing a beloved Furry Kid is always tough but they will live on forever in our Hearts. I too have many happy / funny memories of my little Trouble, a mini Dachshund that was 16 when the time to cross the Bridge came. So many of things that she did that drove me nuts are now treasured memories.

RE: Silverado 1500 upgrade

I had a 2003 1500 with the V-6 and a Five Speed Trans, I did put heavier springs in the rear. I had the truck before we even thought about getting a RV. Our first TT was a 1990 Coachman and was 20 feet. That truck did everything that I ever asked it to do. Once I switched to a 2500, man life was good. No more white knuckle driving. No more crawling to the top of an incline on I-75 in Georgia at 25-35 mph in second gear with the engine all but redlined.
Now, I really loved my little 1500 but enjoy making trips now so much more now.
I am by no means a Weight Police but going from a 1500 to a Heavy Duty 2500 was a no brainier for me. One mistake that I did make was getting a 2008 2500 with the 6.0 rather than the Diesel, (I was trying to keep the DW happy). I fixed that mistake when I traded my 08 in for my 05 2500 Diesel. I am very happy but it took my DW quite a while to get over the fact that I traded in a truck with 7,600 miles on it for a truck three years older with 30,000 miles on it. She got over it and it only took a trip or two for her to admit that the 05 (a Loaded LT with Leather) was much more comfortable.

RE: Car Sick Kitty in less than 4 miles, So heartsick now...

I do not have any experience with Cats but my Macy got car sick until she was almost 5. We found that by not feeding her anything for at least six hours before leaving (not even a treat) to get on the road she did better.
I am not sure what changed but she is now 7 and has not got car sick in a very long time, I hope that I did not jinks myself.
Good Luck with your Cat, I hope she gets over it so you both can have a enjoyable trip.

RE: air it out

I have Ryobi Cordless 18 volt cordless tools so I purchased their air compressor that uses the same battery packs that their drills use. I have found that I can top off 8 tires from 30 psi to 55 or so psi with one battery pack. When traveling with my Toy Hauler I carry the pancake compressor that I use with my nail gun.
The Ryobi compressor has really surprised me with how long it last and it is worth checking out.

RE: OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY PD4501 now mine

Mighty Thor, I watched the show where they shipped your bus. It's a blast to get to here your story about getting it shipped. Now as no one else has asked how was Marc (the Truck Driver) in real life? I am sure they are all very different in "real" life as the show is for entertainment and if they did not ham it up it would be pretty boring.
Count me amongst all of the other members that will be waiting on your next installment of pictures. As for your wife, I know for a fact that if I ever purchased something like this she would at the least Divorce me. That is if she did not hire someone to dig a hole in the backyard big enough for the bus and Me!
Keep up the great work.

RE: Irresponsible Dog Owners (Rant)

Yup, it happens...and has happened to us a number of times - both camping and in the neighborhood.
(ours are ALWAYS on a leash and not a Flexi-leash)
We start with, "NO." Then turn and walk slowly away (not run because that excites the "chase" instinct).
But, if all else fails we always carry a small pepper spray and have used it twice.
But, then you will have to deal with an irate owner when will most often say, "Oh, Killer is friendly, he just wants to play."
Both times we used the spray, the other dog was in an all out attack mode.
In Reference to using Pepper Spray on Dogs - We had a issue at our home that required having Animal Control to come out. After she got the offending dogs in her truck we had a long conversation and one of the things that I remember her saying is DO NOT USE PEPPER SPRAY on dogs as it can make them go crazy and cause a attack. I am not sure how true this is but she said this happened once to her. A Cop used Pepper Spray on a Pit Bull that was being very aggressive. The Cop was bit on the Butt and the Pit was shot.
