Been a few years since we have camped there, at that time they did not take reservations but would never turn anyone away. They will park you on the streets if they don't have any lots open. It was first come first served so you might find a tent set up on a full hook site and your stuck in a no hook up site. The roads up from the Kentucky side are not as bad as the road up from Haysi. We switched over and stay at the cabins now so my information may be out dated....Good Luck

We reached that point last year.....not as great as RVing but still stay on the road 3 - 4 months a year. We now stay in the better up scale motels and have not
encountered any of the undesirables mentioned above. After 30 years of RVing with Class A's 5ers, Class B's and one TT we are making the change over just fine. My only regret is never have the Truck Camper. I have to now rely on their forum for my "missed trips".....
