RE: Is your mileage better in your camp chair

our rv gets somewhere between slim and none. actually 7.5 to 8 mpg.

RE: Favorite things to see in your hometown

in SE VA: Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown. All fairly wheelchair friendly. Just remember: do NOT let the wheelchair pusher get a running start to get across the cobblestones. The chair will stop. The rider... not so much. Don't ask.

RE: Propane use by Frige

regular bud light, or bud light lime? :) as for the chimney, i think Gale means the back of the cutout that the fridge is tucked into. its the same material as the cabinetry, and the outer panel is the same as the rest of the rv, namely wood/foam/plastic/aluminum/any glued-together combination of the above. btw, even my '99 fridge is an auto-switcher. i cant imagine anything newer would not be.

RE: Removing cornice boards from windows

they should all be attached with little angle brackets. the upper ones for the side pieces are way at the top. a long-shaft phillips screwdriver will get to them.

RE: Ever take your cat for a walk......

whenever we take our german shepherd for a walk the indoor/outdoor cat goes with us (no leash on the cat). he will either lead us, looking back to see if we are following, or trail behind and play hide and seek under the parked cars. sometimes he will actually walk right next to the dog. what a mis-matched pair: 6 pounds of cat, 60 pounds of dog. guess who is the boss...

RE: Ford V10 Engines

plugs are good for 100,000 miles. dont mess with them. use 5w20 syn or semi-syn oil. drive the cr@p out of it and dont look back.

RE: Wal-Mart has doubled RV Service rates!

some rvs are amazingly easy to do an oil change on. 6 qts and a filter, 1/2 hour, done! YOCMV.

RE: Magic Marker

i remember colorforms. and the little green army men. a friend and i had access to the basement of a club in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. the basement was un-finished, just cement walls and dirt/rock floor. we would set up the army men on opposite sides of the basement and have battles by throwing rocks at the little guys. lotsa fun! in my later years (17 or so) my dad gave me a ruger 10/22 rifle. my friends and i would set up some army men at about 50 yards and pick them off using a 4-power scope. even more fun! what's more, nobody even gave us a second glance as we walked down the streets with rifles slung over our shoulders carrying a bag full of ??? (army men). and no, this was not in the Village. those were better times...

RE: Dry Rot under tail light

git-rot is great! i have a 1972 Thompson bow-rider that had a partially rotted transom. i removed the upper trim pieces and the outboard motor. then i drilled lots of holes down into the wood from the top edge and injected the git-rot into the transom. firmed it right up. before i reinstalled the motor and trim i bolted a 6" aluminum channel on the inside and a piece of aluminum plate on the outside. all gooped up of course. been going strong for 24 years, so far.

RE: Dry Rot under tail light

scrape out all the rotted wood you can get to. pour in epoxy to the bottom of the light cutout. wait for it to cure. pour in some more to top it off. reinstall the light assembly with fresh sealant. that's what i would do. YMMV. that being said, the entire back filon sheet on our rv is held on by the trim, lights, window, and ladder. i will end up removing all the aforementioned (ooh, big word!) goodies and replacing the rotted layer of luan under the filon, gluing everything back together as i go. sounds fun, right?

RE: MY EYEBALL HURT

if you decide to pull/tow something above the coach manufacturer's weight limit, you are on the hook for any damage caused by you, the coach, or the toad. even if you get the frame beefed up and bolt on a larger hitch. unless the beef-up shop certifies the rv as being able to tow the extra weight, with DOT-approved certificates. rotsa ruck.

RE: Newbie Questions

typically the engine's alternator will charge all the batteries, but the generator or shore power connection will only charge the house batteries. if that is the case in your rv, you can buy a Trik-L-Start that will allow the chassis battery to also be charged by the genny or shore power.
