Where is the orifice in a Norcold?

Hi gang. Search did nothing for me. I have a N400 in a 01 Lance. Where is the orifice, somewhere on the shut off valve, or by the burner? If the orifice is where I think it is,by the burner, how the heck do I get to it? There is a large black tube right in front of it.

RE: Do you like your cabover bed?

I love the layout, getting in and out of the cab over is a piece of cake and the bed is out of my living space. I can't imagine dealing with moving the bed out of my way each day, or having some big old trailer to haul around either. That's why you go with a TC: small, compact, efficient. I'm only in it to eat, sleep or use the john. Hanging out in a barco-lounger watching a big screen? hell I might have just as well have stayed home. Give me a fold-out chair in the dark out in the woods looking up at the stars and hearing the sounds of nature any day/night over anything on the idiot box.
well said! didnt leave me much to say other than it sure is nice having a queen in such a small unit as a tc, and we have had both. hands down the ns is way better than the ew for us.

RE: Best Truck Camper - Opinions and Advice Wanted

you actually got some good responses along with the "sell it all and buy this":R ,, . I have an 02 2500 shortbed with an 8.5 ft. Lance. I added airbags that run about 15lbs and Rancho 9 click adjustable 9000x. I would think with a bit of support/sway help you will hopefully have a stable, fun setup.
From what you are coming from, I agree floor plan would be as much of a consideration as manufacturer. It is nice having a trailer to put extra stuff in. Im actually surprised how much stuff I can get in my camper with a bit of creativity and personalizing.

RE: Moving (Jed Klampet style) with TC?

I have a 20 ft car hauler I put atvs on with an 18" extension all the time. I do need to reinforce the trailer hitch, but its worked for 10 years so far. I think you are in good shape to roll!

RE: Propane furnace safety questions

I can throw an answer out there. Many people have melted outlets from the draw of an electric heater. I have heard of many electric heaters causing fires. I have never heard of an RV heater causin a fire, but carbon monoxide poisoning is a different concern. I would think a CO2 detector would prevent that?

RE: "Desert pinstripes" from branches -- what to do?

My 02 truck looks pretty good for what its been thru. Many buff jobs for this supposed 'poser'. I still like a good looking truck. The biggest worry about thinning clearcoat is on the surfaces that the sun hits a lot, as in roof, trunk, hood. The sun doesnt hit the sides enough to matter. Just do it! Keep wax on it and you will be good.
But, as many have said, start with mild abrasive. The good thing is whatever buffing you do will make a big difference on the less severe scratches. Try it, I bet it surprises you.
I do paint and bodywork on the side, let my know if you need guidance if you decide to do this. Frank

RE: Another truck engine discussion

"Don't take this the wrong way, but how is doing nothing but steering "fun"? Less effort, but I'm not sure "fun" applies. Aren't using the accelerator, brake and transmission part of driving?
I find that fun from way back in the days of towing a trailer of ATVs behind my Chevy luv. The whole experience was planning and excuting the corners, hills and passing lanes. "
I can relate how it can be fun. My diesel has so much power I now enjoy going over 12,ooo ft passes and being able to pass at will. I hear what you are saying, but keeping the throttle pinned constantly has lost its appeal.

RE: Another truck engine discussion

WOOHOO! My kind of topic. Im amazed 100% for diesel. The once you go diesel you never go back applies to me too. My 5.7 just didnt have it, and got worse fuel mileage. I used to not like the smell of diesel.
Now I use it for cologne. But,,,, there is still nothing like the rumble of a nice v8 with nice sounding pipes,,,just not towing or hauling anything.

RE: Pros and Cons: TC vs TT

Its easier to use. I would like more room, but wont tow triple. My wife had a point. The harder it is to tow, manuever, or get ready, the more excuses I have not to go. She knows me well.
I really love my TC for all the reasons above. We spend as much time outdoors as possible, so the lack of room isnt that big a deal.

RE: Loading a camper without enough space between the jacks

The front jacks have a lot more weight on them than the rear. I would be afraid of tipping. Just go VERY slow and with 1/2 inch on either side you should be a pro after loading this one.

RE: Winterizing: Do you remove your LCD TV?

NO I have never removed mine in 6 years. You might get into trouble if you sat out there in a zero degree trailer and watched TV though.
I guess that would depend on how pissed the wife got that day as to whether or not I had to turn the TV on in the camper,,,,

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Good points Skip!! I have been using 303 since it was put on the market. I agree its the best stuff out there for particular applications. Thanks for broadening my perspective on the stuff. Its amazing how much money some companys make and their product is considered junk by some of the pros in the business.
Thats why I swear by 3M products. In the auto painting field and everwhere else, it shows how good it is.
