RE: Here is something to chew on.......

Why is it that the auto industry gets all the "Buy American" rhetoric? Other industries have been quietly moved 100% off shore and nobody gave a rip. I know a lot of American auto workers that bought foriegn made electronics and clothing back in the '70s and didn't care because the American workers in those industries weren't union members.

RE: Lock your gas tank

Back during the gas crisis of the '70s, ....snip.... Gas was a lot cheaper back then but rationed. "Rationed"???? Unless I'm mistaken, gas hasn't been rationed in this Country since WWII! I do remember sitting in line for gas in the '70's- but never had to pass over a coupon or anything... In California, you could only buy gas on odd or even days, dependant upon the last digit of your license plate. In my book that is rationing. If you can't buy it when you want to and have the time and money to do so, but can't because of government edict, it's rationed

RE: Made in America?

Here is what does it for me. Where do the profits go? So if the executives and board of directors keep their megayachts in the US it is an American car? :-D No, if the profits go to the federal government, it's an American car. But that theory still leaves GM still only 50% American. :)

RE: Made in America?

Henry Ford was a believer in verticle integration. His belief was that his company should be completely independent and have complete control of all the resouces necessary to produce the final product, including iron copper and coal mines, steel foundries and mills, forests and lumber mills and even his own power generating plant. He funded research to use soy products to replace plastics. When the company's stock went public, his dream was lost. Had his vision been maintained, Ford vehicles would definitely be American made.

RE: Lock your gas tank

Back during the gas crisis of the '70s, I came out of my home to find my garden hose cut in pieces. "Darn kids!!!" I thought. When I backed my truck up, there was another piece of hose under the truck. I glanced down at the fuel guage and sure enough, EMPTY. The hose was worth as much as the gas that they stole. Gas was a lot cheaper back then but rationed.

RE: The Secret of a Contented Married Life::::::

I've been wondering just who was responsible for picking our last three presidents. Next time maybe you should let your wife make that one. :)

The "stae", see how easy it is to mess things up.

RE: Small dealer rant

Don't cast stones without knowing for certain where the blame lies. DMVs have been known to botch things up. The address must have been pretty close, since you recieved the title in the mail.

RE: shower hose that swivels

???????? The shower head head is binding and keeps turning ? Most things that are binding don't turn. Me thinks that you are confused.

RE: what do you think

I think you need to be in the trailer forum. The OP is talking about a choice of TV, not a choice of trailers.

RE: Here is something to chew on.......

no. Engines, electronic equipment and oil are the top 3 exports And the first two of the three are in demand because of their technology, which will be counterfieted in short order. The third is exported at the expense of all of us at the pump.

RE: Testing....

After you are sure that everything connected properly, find a large empty parking lot and do a little practicing. Bring a couple of folding chairs and try to back up between them. Place the chairs and see how close you can back up to them without hitting them. Place them like fuel pumps and try driving up to them as if coming into a gas station from the street. Do the same thing pretending that the chairs are a dump station. Practice makes perfect and folding chairs are a lot more forgiving than trees, gas pumps or posts.

RE: Here is something to chew on.......

Why should the consumer worry about the American made content of anything? The manufacturers don't care, the stock market doesn't care, even our government doesn't care. Unfortunately, the consumer cannot induce enough concern to overcome the complacency of business and government. Our greatest export is technology, which we blindly give away. :(

RE: Holiday weekend

That's true for any holiday except July 4th. Gotta be somewhere to see great fireworks. Besides, it is crazier here on the 4th, than most other places. (4th, National Cherry Festival, Air Show) I get out of here and go further north.

RE: Problems for Alaskan resident buying an RV in California?

Nobody leaves my property with my plates on any vehicle, no matter what the paperwork says. When he gets to the border check point, with Alaska plates on the TV and California plates on the TT, there will be questions. Even if everything is in order (bill of sale, insurance etc.), someone other than the crossing guard is probably going to have to OK that the Ts are crossed and Is are dotted. EDIT: In Michigan, the plates belong to and stay with the owner. If I recall correctly, in California the plates belong to and stay on the vehicle. Don't know if a Canadian bourder guard would understand that, or how license plate transfers are handled in Canada.

RE: Electric brakes settings

FWIW, I had a 10 F150 with OEM brake controller, Towed the same TT with it. Worked flawless. Got the new Ram and it's been downhill since. IMO Rams are hit or miss. Some love em, some don't. Never hear that with the Fords. You must not have been listening. :)

RE: Entry Door

In the old days, it was just an ugly black rubber strip that never faded but often cracked. Isn't progress great ?

RE: Cement slab help

When you order the concrete, be sure to let the redi-mix company know the weight of the trailer that you intend to park there. Modern concrete comes in several different formulations. Some have inbedded fiber which better supports weight without cracking.
