RE: Can a Highlander pull a folding trailer?
If you have a v6 and the vehicle is rated at 3000 - 3500 lbs for a tow rating (check your owners maniual, or with Toyota, you should have no problem hauling most Pop ups. Maybe not a highwall with all the bells and whistles, my CLipper ST1070 has a cassette toilet and a storage trunk and my DW's Pacifica with a v6 tows it fine. That Trailer doesn't get close to the tow limit and there are alot of pop ups that are in the same weight and size range that you should be able to haul.

Contact the town council each and every one of them. Also spread the word to all your neighbors especially anyone with any sort of rv, boat, or trailer of any kind because if they start with motorhomes it will continue to get more restrictive and you probably won't be grandfathered in. It isn't something like a structure that was up before they changed the zoning laws. Start being your own squeaky wheel. Our City started having rumblings about banning or restricting the number of RV's and trailers. They did come up with an Ordinance that isn't too bad. Actually my pop up and my utility trailer are both too short to even qualify as an RV. The length definition doesn't include the toungue or the spare tire. I will agree that some people will push it when it comes to their yards. I used to live in a turn of teh century house won a 40x120 fllt lot. No way would I have put a class A MH on it but some people did and that then causes ordinances to be put into motion. Work with your Twon Council and be reasonable and I bet they will especially if you get alot of voices behind you.

RE: leveling
I bought a couple of the stick on Levels and put one on the side and one on the front of the roof. I pull in, make sure that I am level from side to side, if I need to I have some two by 4's and one by 4's to pull onto. Then once it is level side to side I untitch and use the toungue jack to level front and back. Then I put the stabilizer jacks down. Our new pop up has Sand Pads on the stabilizers so I don't put any wood down on them. When I didn't have sand pads I had some 1x4's that I rested the stabilizers on. You just make sure the stabilizers are snug against the ground youdon't crank them to raise thetrailer. That should minimize most rocking and swaying.

The shorter the distance from the ball/coupler to the trailer axle the less input is needed for an amount of correction. I think having a single axle also makes a PUP more squirrelly when backing. Our old HTT was virtually identical in length and weight, yet with its dual axles, it was much easier to back.
Backing into our driveway is a big challenge. It starts with a 10 degree slope with a 5-8 degree off camber to it. Then, the trailer has to make a 90 degree turn and up another 10 degree slope. When correctly located, the rear wheel of the TV is <3" from an 18" curb. There's ~3" slack in either direction for the trailer to sit so we can actually get by it on the side of the house. The tongue is about three feet off the ground (jack, block, jack again) to get it within a couple of degrees of level. I "smell" a new clutch sometime in the future. :(
Our driveway isn't that bad but I tried using my old Chevy S-10 (4 cyl 4 sp manual) to back our pop up up the driveway. It finally got it but the clutch suffrered greatly................ It does fine on the level around the yard but I would hate to try and get into traffic with it...

I have a 4 foot Utility Trailer and My Pop up is a dream to back up comepared to the utility trailer. Practice makes perfect... my neighbor has 10 yrs of experience backing their pop up through an 8 foot wide gate and he get through on the first shot every time. I'm not that good but I can tell I am improving... With the Utility Trailer SOme times I just get out and drag it over to where I want it when I back up...

Surface rust on the frame isn't going to hurt anything.... If you were really worried about get down on your belly when you get home and rinse everything down with a garden hose. I think a High Pressure washer would do more damage than good to the wood floor, the wiring, the piping ect. I would be more concerned if you drove the trailer through salt water or towed it in a snow storm on roads that had been salted. Then you especially want to rinse off the salt crud.... but surface rust on a frame isn't going to hurt a thing.

Please pay attention to size limitations, this summer we were trapped behind a big Bunkhouse 5th wheel trying to get into a spot that was just too tight and too small for it. Besides causing traffic to back up on the one way campground rd the banged up their trailer onall the tree branches they were trying to get through. In the end they finally got it in the spot, their TV stuck out in the road a couple of feet because they had to have their slide out and it wouldn't fit if the trailer was back a ways. And this was in a State Park where I found the descriptions of the sites were pretty much spot on when I made the reservation.Our site had a warning that it was a tight back in and it was even with our pop up, it would have never worked for a travel trailer or anything bigger than a small tt.

She went on a show and made it as far as she could. Maybe not to win the money but for the experience. When she got back to the States, she should have kicked her abusive boyfriend to the curb or better yet have him arrested for physical abuse. Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.
#1 Can't get arrested in the states for something that happened in Dubai, #2 what they showed on the show wasn't physical abuse....
Kudos to the Globetrotters for getting around her, her boyfrined didn't ask her to do anything he didn't do. It is a game with a million dollar prize.

In Minnesota thankfully they don't go after you or your money if you don't renew your registration. If you get a ticket tho the fines and court fees have gone up quite a bit. But i have noticed that it is taking longer and longer to get a title issued when you buy a vehicle/ My un-educated opinion on it is that there are less people working in the DMV thanks to budget cuts and furloughs. Tabs can be renewed online and that seems to be the quickest way to go.

One couldn't finish... the two girls just didn't have the strength or skills to complete either challenge. The week before quit because she didn't want to do the challenge.... Why would you go on the show if you had such a fear of water and or heights you can't slide down a water slide??? This week they tried and tried.... last week she just quit...

It all depends on what you want to do and see, With a pop up you don't need AC all the time. The DW has a couple of requirements, the campground has to have flush toilets and showers and she needs to be able to fish. So far we have stayed in State Parks, a COunty park, and some US Forest Service parks. We have likes all of them for the most part. We haven't needed AC and have camped with and without electric. It is nice to have electric so I don't need to worry about battery life but I carry a second battery and have never even wore out the first battery even after 4 days. If it is hot we open all the windows and have the Awning out and with a shaded campsite it is fine. As for charging thinghs like cell phones and computers I bought an inverter that plugs into a power outlet in my TV and will charge up items when we sight see or head to the store or beach.
One suggestion for a car show if ytou haven't been to it is the Minnesota Street Rod Association meeting (Back to the 50's) I believe it is the 3rd weekend in june every year at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, usually over 10,000 cars on the fairgrounds, all are 1964 or older. I think the website is www.msra.com If it sounds like you would be interested, it is a great show and you can easliy spend 2 days and not see it all.

I guess as an Citizen of the USA I have always felt that it was my right to fly what ever flag I want to, USA, Canadian, Mexican, Irish, Swedish, Pirate, even Norwegian ;) I can, that is part of what this country is about many of our civil rights are about personal choice. If I decide to fly a flag to celebrate my heritage the secret police aren't going to come up to me on a street corner and take me away. I mean no disrespect to anyone, I will not fly the USA flag in an improper manner but if I have a flag pole I know of no requirement that I have to fly the flag of the United States on it exclusively. If someone gets upset about my choice of flag don't look at it.

RE: Two-Inch receiver hitch on back of folding camper trailer
I have a Pro Rac on my pop up. It works good. One thing I did do was to run a long Bungee cord or two from the back tires of the bikes to the back bumper. It keeps the back tires of the bikes from dancing around. One word of caution is with the bikes on the roof you may have to watch for low clearances. I almost learned the hard way after I pulled under a motels canopy and got out and noticed that the seat on my bike cleared the canopy by an inch. :O

The laws in Minnesota prohibit non-approved firewood in State Parks, State Forests, and Day use Areas
89.551 APPROVED FIREWOOD REQUIRED.
(a) After the commissioner issues an order under paragraph (b), a person may not possess firewood on land administered by the commissioner of natural resources unless the firewood:
(1) was obtained from a firewood distribution facility located on land administered by the commissioner;
(2) was obtained from a firewood dealer who is selling firewood that is approved by the commissioner under paragraph (b); or
(3) has been approved by the commissioner of natural resources under paragraph (b).
(b) The commissioner of natural resources shall, by written order published in the State Register, approve firewood for possession on lands administered by the commissioner. The order is not subject to the rulemaking provisions of chapter 14 and section 14.386 does not apply.
(c) A violation under this section is subject to confiscation of firewood and after May 1, 2008, confiscation and a $100 penalty. A firewood dealer shall be subject to confiscation and assessed a $100 penalty for each sale of firewood not approved under the provisions of this section and sold for use on land administered by the commissioner.
(d) For the purposes of this section, "firewood" means any wood that is intended for use in a campfire, as defined in section 88.01, subdivision 25
Basically it's the law, if you don't like it you still need to follow it until you can get your legislature to change it,. For someone who feels they don'tneed to follow it because they know better or they feel the cost of firewood at or near a campground isn't to their liking too bad. I have yet to feel the cost of a bundle of firewood at a MN state Park was outrageous, follow the rules and laws people, many complain if someone lets their dog run loose in violation of leash laws or one of the thousand rules osme campgrounds seem to make but Emerald Ash Borer is serious, just check out some cities that used to have wonderful elm lined streets and now look at what replaced them.

RE: How to pack a television
My guess is that if your staying at a campground with cable hook ups at your site you will also have at least a 20 amp hook up, if you have your camper plugged in at the campsite then you can use one of the 120 v outlets in your pop up.we don't carry a TV but if we did I probably would put it in the Tow Veh if possible, it would have a smoother ride than in a trailer.

I am sure if you accidentially violate a rule about flag display someone will point it out. But if it causes any huge issues that person probably has way too much time on his hands. The chances of starting an international incident causing border skirmishes in Pembina North Dakota or Submarines off the coast of Isle Royal are very slim.

For the pop up trailer I think it is something like $13.00 in Minnesota. For vehicles there is a sliding scale based on original value. Eventually it drops (after 7-10 years or so) down to $50. My 87 S-10 was just $35. plus then the Wheelage tax of your in certain counties, . It used to be a lot higher before Gov Ventura came into office... but now it is creeping back up there.

I don't expect it to get below 30 degrees for very long at night. During the days I'm expecting about 60-70 degrees where we'll be camped @ about 8,000 in the Sierra Mountains east of Fresno, CA.

Sorry I thought your said "WINTER" Camping, that's not winter camping and you probably won't have any problems with your water system especially if it gets that warm during the day and just barely drops below freezing for an hour or so.

RE: Recommendations on Truck Extended Warrantee
A co-worker bought a Ford Extended Warranty when he bought his used F-350 4x4 Diesel. He has had several repairs done with no problem and now they are refusing to fix and oil leak because the truck has a plow (put on by a Ford Dealer) and the truck doesn't have the plow package. The repair they are refusing is an oil leak where they would apparently have to take off the front clip and pull the motor (about $3800.00). Make sure the warranty will cover the truck and what you use the truck for.
