RE: Weird 12 volt problem

Could be you reversed the polarity and some devices are protected. Some just won't work. Or, your wires are not carrying the current load and the voltage is dropping.
Grab a voltmeter and touch the outside edges on each of the sockets. If you see voltage the new one is reversed. If it is a low voltage issue you need to measure the voltage right on the back side of the socket while under load.

RE: How do you replace all the tires on a 5th wheel?

I'm still wondering how you change that 5th wheel?? And just why is it a 5th wheel. Inquiring minds need to know.

RE: Almost embarrassed to ask....

If you are not handy with tools and a voltmeter you need to be handy with a check book. A 40 footer is a wonder of electronics and mechanics and plumbing. There is a ton of information available and several fantastic forums like this to support you. Since you have been looking for a year you have done a lot of research.

RE: Cell Phones.. did you know??

Repeaters for police and fire will not pick up cell phone signals. If you are meaning their actual communications channels.
They use different frequencies and modulation techniques.
A separate antenna connected to different base unit on the same tower will receive 911 calls. Not too common yet, but increasing in mountainous rural areas.
Can you explain this a bit more please. Some new piece of communications equipment on the market?
Cell phones do not connect to 911 dispatch centers via their towers or radios. They connect via phone lines. The cell towers and vendors send that information via their infrastructure.

RE: Shocking! AC power tingle between frame and (real) ground

I just put my meter between frame and damp ground - 18.6VAC
Now turn on the microwave and measure again. I bet it goes up.

RE: Winegard Traveler

From the ground they may be looking under limbs etc. On top of the rv you may be looking at limbs and just not know it. Definitely get an app if you have the right phone. Saves lots of guessing.

RE: Shocking! AC power tingle between frame and (real) ground

With a long run of extension cords and adaptors this issue comes up often. Grab a voltmeter, put it on the AC measurment mode and place one probe in the ground and the other on the TT. Now turn your microwave on and measure while going. The voltage will probably go up a bit.
Long runs of extension cords, (and everyone follows those rules right?), cautioned on drills and other items is often ignored and your TT can draw a lot of current if the batteries are low or you are running an AC for example.
The issue is the resistance of the wires causing a voltage drop and the TT is a series resistor. This resistance can be from poor house wiring, worn outlet contacts, long runs of wires, and loose connections. First step is to get away from light weight cords etc.
Not making light of a possible dangerous situation. Just don't chase ghosts.

RE: No power from 12 V battery

If it is an old pop up there may be a small switch on the converter that selects between battery and shoreline power. Some don't have battery chargers in them and only get charged by the towing vehicle or an outboard charger.
Make Model and Year sure helps

RE: Ipad won't work on CG wifi

There have been some compatibility issues with certain types of encryption. I would get as close to the wi-fi signal as possible and try again. The wimpy transmitters they put in these things have a difficult time penetrating foilage and walls of rv's. I use a wi-fi repeater with excellent results.

RE: adjusting 5lnb satellite

Bill, is there a way to find out what shows are transmitted on which birds? Just curious. And thanks for the clarification on the readout. A nice upgrade would be a signal strength on the display. I have found that even though it is locked in place one bird can be blocked and cause issues. Not the travlers fault, just some tall palm trees blocking one bird.

these reading are from my HR21 Its lock on all satellite but the 103s I just trying so see if not being lock on 103s is ok
Yep, you should be good to go. Once you finish the setup it will do a test. Just push past the test when done and see how things work. A symptom of a weak signal on a bird is an error message on the tv. I don't remember the code.

RE: LEDs replaced florescents but get hot

If you bouight the water proofed ones they have a rubbe coating and do get warm to the touch. If you run your fingers over uncovered ones you can feel the sharpness of the lens. The rubber coated ones are smooth but as you say get hot.

RE: Dometic fridge will often go in 'check' mode while driving

If you have not done the service suggested in the manual ever it is time. Simple procedure. Rust and crud can drop down and block the flame which makes it easy to go out or blow out.

RE: Intellitec only showing 30A service connected to 50A. ???

First make sure all breakers are closed, even if there not in use.. Second, I'd say the shore power is using two parallel 120 volt circuits, and they show up as 30 amp on the panel.. Check voltage across the two hot lines and you should get "0".. This has happened once or twice to us.. You should be OK since you don't have any 240 volt stuff.. Mike Mathews..
Might want to check this site
Voltage across two hot lines is 240 volts.

RE: Intellitec only showing 30A service connected to 50A. ???

You probably already know this, but on my ems there is a selector switch that you can change. Maybe yours is selected for 30 amps.
I believe when on 50 amp you cannot select the amperage.

RE: Switch Style Battery Disconnect

If you disconnect the positive lead then you can cause a short with a tool or metal object. Removing the negative terminal and having it short normally only activates the battery circuit. That said, the positive side is just fine and very normal in rv's.

page 14
The ems has to see both legs of the 120 volts.
VIX shows what you should measure.
