RE: Kelderman Air Ride

OMG!! Why are people buying or planning on buying a new unit then spending $6000 plus to make it useable????? Moisheh Because we want to, we feel its justified, and we can afford it. Any other questions? I haven't spent 6 grand yet, but if I lived closer to Kelderman I probably would. Me, about 3k so far for all the goodies I've added. Why?... Just because I can!! It's my hobby and I enjoy it. Enough said.

RE: Question for Anyone with Southwind Ford V10

x?? above. Hitting RESUME will suspend the CC and then when back on level ground hit RESUME to go back into CC. My RESUME button gets a lot of use.:B

RE: Distribution Panel 30 amp or 50 amp How do it know?

After lots of reading on this topic I also installed my EMS before the transfer switch. Lots of people (smarter than me) told me that modern generators have built in protection and I shouldn't worry about that source and instead focus on the power I don't know about... outside the coach.

RE: New Samlex UL hard wire inverter

I've had the Samlex SSW-1500 running for over 1 year and have had no problems. Runs the normal stuff (TV's etc.) and the occasional coffee pot or toaster with out breaking a sweat. Fan can be a little noisy though.

RE: Fresno or Merced, CA?

Thanks bob213, After more reading I decided I don't want to try the Wawona tunnel in my 12'10" rig so I will be taking the 140 from Fresno after stopping at the Shaw Costco. Thanks everyone!

RE: Fresno or Merced, CA?

Thanks everyone! A few years ago I did Hwy 41 with my trailer, nice drive! The difference in mileage between the two routes (41 vs 140) is only 30 miles. With the motorhome however I'm wondering if Hwy 140 would be any quicker or easier to get to the valley floor? Thanks again!!

Fresno or Merced, CA?

My family is going to Yosemite in April coming from the South. My DW wants to stop at a Costco on the way so I figure I should fuel up while there. We're driving a 35ft MH with dolly/toad. Does anyone know if either Merced or Fresno (Shaw) have RV friendly entry/exit and gas pumps? Is there any preference between the two? Thanks in advance!

RE: Parking in West Hollywood, CA

Both of my children went to UCLA so I'm familiar with the area... that said I don't know of any RV sites close by and frankly, just 2 blocks in the wrong direction and you wouldn't want to drive around there, let alone spend the night. Tight streets and lots of traffic. Please be careful there!!

RE: new coach - no spare tire

... You might check as I had understood all new Tiffin MH came with a free year of Coach-Net Roadside service. We had lots of room in the basement and purchased a spare that we store unmounted. My 2011 came with one year of Coach-Net (from Tiffin) and when it expired I paid for another year. I think it was $100 and I figure (IMHO) if I ever do have a flat or some other problem it will most likely pay for itself pretty quickly. Although I have do have room for a spare I don't plan on buying or hauling one around. PS: "new Tiffin MH came with a free year of Coach-Net Roadside service" We paid for it... somehow. ;)

RE: Air ride for motorhome

If you search on Kelderman on this forum you will find much info on this subject. All of us who have been willing to experiment for better ride have shared our results. I think we have found common ground that first tire pressure, 2nd shocks and finally Kelderman. For wind it is rear trac bar, steering stabilizer and the "cheap fix". Along the way we rejected some things and I think we all agree that alignment is critical under all conditions. Good luck. This... x2

RE: Opinions on New Surge Protector

lets see, its cold, its dark, its rainy and the SP shuts your juice down because of low voltage. how long do you wait till you go out and rewire your RV? 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour? or do you just flip a switch and you are back on line? If a person is in the market for one, I think it just makes good sense to buy a proper one. JMHO bumpy If its cold, dark, raining cats and dogs, and a full moon, I think I'll stay inside and sleep. :) "Proper one" is just a matter of opinion, you've got yours and I've got mine... I honestly don't care which one anyone buys, it won't affect my next camping trip one way or the other. I was just sharing information and giving my opinion, not criticizing someone else's.

RE: Continued Analysis

GreenSalsa, Thank you for your service! I can't answer all of your questions but I can give you a little piece of my own personal experience... I bought my Tiffin brand new and it has never seen an RV dealership since. It was not perfect and it did have some smaller problems at first that I took care of and fixed on my own. I count myself blessed that I only had minor problems. About 2 months past the 12 month warranty the HDMI distribution system went wonky so I called Tiffin and told them what I had found and what the problem was and they sent me a new HDMI splitter box without question and without any hassle whatsoever. About two months after that (16 months after purchase) I called with a small punch list of little items I needed and was willing to pay for, wood plugs for screws holes, rubber grommet for the stove, etc... Again, no problem no question just mailed them right out to me at no charge. I know I would feel very comfortable calling tomorrow if needed to for any reason and I would be able to talk to a technician or the owner ... and THAT is why I choose a Tiffin. Not because they don't have problems, they all do. Not because they never produce a lemon, they all do. It was because of their track record of really exceptional customer service and their willingness to make reasonable repairs. They all have problems; Tiffin just seems to go beyond what the others do to make it right. That's why I like my Tiffin and why I would buy another... that and my wife really likes our floor plan. :B Don't flame me, this is just my humble opinion/personal experience, and four years of research before buying. YMMV

RE: Opinions on New Surge Protector

Even though my motorhome came with a spike protector I still opted to install the EMS-LCHW50. Hardwire, no bypass. I figure if it blew once and needed replacing then I probably shouldn't go without it. (Wouldn't even take 10 minutes to bypass anyway.) Even though I went four years without one on my toyhauler I decided before a long trip to put some protection on the motorhome. I've got a lot more electronics to loose in the MH then the toyhauler ever had. I like the hardwire model and don't even think about it anymore. It's just there doing its job so I can do mine... RELAXING!!:W

RE: Dual Hitch Receiver, Not for use with any type of trailer

I use this one: Click here... Website says: Towing capacity: 7,500 lbs Tongue weight capacity: 750 lbs Receiver capacity: 350 lbs NOTE: Receiver portion for use with accessories; not for use with towing. I tow with my car dolly and put bikes on the top receiver portion. It works well, no cracks so far and not too much play in use. Only thing I don't like is I have to remember to hook up dolly before installing the bike rack.:S

RE: Newmar 3920 toy hauler and Outlaw Class A...help Please

5K hitch on mine. I usually tow between 2,6000 and 3,500 lbs (yes, I have choices :B). I've towed 4,300 lbs twice, up the mountains and back down. No problem, really didn't notice anything beyond the fact I was towing. V10 pulled it up and trailer brakes helped slow it down. IMHO, If you need to tow more than 4,500 lbs, I think a diesel is in your future... and you'd probably be happier with it knowing you are not over the limits and/or stressing your motorhome. Plus, then you can get air brakes and make real truck sounds!!

RE: Should I have been concerned?

I would like to know how it can "roll" with the wheels off the ground....Logic would indicate that in order for it to roll the wheels would have to be on the ground rolling-----maybe if its steep enough the jacks can slide maybe? Living in Southern California, I've seen things roll, slide, and move that shouldn't be rolling, sliding, or moving... during a quake. :E I don't mind my fronts getting of the ground a little, but I usually try to put blocks under them to keep some pressure on the tires. If I can't roll up on it then I'll lift, block, and lower. I never get my rears off the ground, I will move before I let that happen.

RE: Safe LP Ceramic Heater

I know I've read plenty of people talking about their propane heater that has worked for years and years for them... never a problem. I'm glad it works for them... but why take that chance at all? I would always be just a little nervous if I had to run one of those... Do I have a vent open, do I have window open, are they open enough, why do I have a vent open if I'm trying to heat the place :@, do I smell propane, is my carbon monoxide detector working properly? I guess it come down to your comfort level. Electric or vented heater only for me. No worries, no muss, no fuss.

RE: Ford tranny

Really like my Allison in my truck, however I am also really pleased with the Ford transmission in my 2011 F53. I don't like that it drops a gear if it simply suspects a hill might be coming up in the next 5 miles... but I'm learning to work with it.
