RE: Tow Vehcile for Mobile Suites
Sirdrake, the figure you listed is for conventional towing as listed on page 18 of the guide. The max loaded 5th wts are on page 19. With auto tranny max is 24,600 and with manual tranny 18,200.
The 16,000 you list is for 2.5" receiver hitch and a max tongue wt of 1,600 lbs. Look ak the top right of pg 29.

RE: Tow Vehcile for Mobile Suites
Sirdrake, I would like to know where you got those figures for the F-450!!! Even an F-350 DRW 4X2 with "Tow Boss Pkg",Torqshift tranny, 4.30 rear end and of course the 6.4L Diesel is rated for towing a max loaded trlr wt of 18,400 lbs with a GCVWR of 26,000 lbs. See my sig, when loaded the F-350 weighs in at 9560 lbs (including 136 gal of diesel). The MS pin wt is heavy 3300 lbs (I tend to place to much in the basement area). Even so my wts are all within those recommended by both Ford and MS, i.e.
Ford GVWR 13,000 actual 9,560 + (3,300 pin wt) = 12,860 (GVW)
MS GVWR 16,000 actual 15,800 (includes pin wt) + 9,560 =
25,360 (GCW)
These figures all arrived at by weighing on CAT scale #412 off I-75
in SW FL.
Note: Curb wt of truck is 7,352
The 2009 F-450 configured just as my F-350, is rated for a loaded trlr
wt of 24,600 with a GCWR of 33,000
