I'm sure they meant that irresponsible, immature people, drunks and other criminals also carry guns. Maybe not legally, but there are unknown people with unknown mentality carrying guns and they use them when they get mad. You never know who those persons are, so caution is good.
You've made a great case for the sane people to carry guns too.
Yeah, a shootout in a camping area over a drunk playing loud music is certainly a significant identifying trait of a sane person.

Can you define excessive and loud for campsites that are 15-20ft apart? When you book yourselves into a campground that have several families in a few hundred square feet of space, you cannot impose your expectations on everyone around you.
If you want to be in control and crave solitude, boondock somewhere. I don't blare my music, but I'll bet it could be heard by adjoining sites. I can hear their radio, TV, laughter, whatever. I THINK I have a realistic set of expectations though. Some people don't..........
If it can be heard on other than the site where it is originating it is too loud.

If I were to buy a used dolly what should I be out looking for?
Also, do I need a brake controller in the MH like I did when I was towing a TT behind an SUV OR does the wiring that tells my 4-down towed car to brake do the same thing with a dolly braking system?
Rust, tires, wheel bearings, straps.

In another life, I worked with quieting down the cabs on ag tractors. When I wanted to quiet down the engine noise in my MH, I used the following two things.
First, http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html
I then covered that with, http://www.b-quiet.com/hliner.html
No problem hearing the DW now. At normal cruising speeds, you don't hear the engine. Above 3500 rpm, you hear it, but still quite quiet.
How is it applied on the inside of the dog house?
