RE: fridge

if you have a TT, then you probably have a 2-way fridge. either propane or 110vAC but not on 12vDC.
so, your only choice is to run it on propane(which the majority of RV'ers have no problem doing) or you cool it the night before and get to the campground before it warms up.

RE: Full tank of Propane=How many days of usage?

as was said, it's almost impossible to say. if you use the furnace a lot, then it goes quicker. if you don't, then it lasts longer.
we usually get through a season of camping on one 20lbs. tank.
but we don't use the furnace a lot.
if you're dry camping or boondocking, your battery will die before you even use 25% of your propane.
will you have hookups? if so, take a electric ceramic heater, like most of us do, to supplement the propane furnace. that way you'll use much less propane.

RE: RV camping closest to Legoland

We are planning to go to California in July and will visit LegoLand How crowded are the state parks in July ? Or should we go to a private park?
Tony
all state park campsites, along the coast, were already gone for July, in February. state parks' coastal campsites are gone 6 months in advance and disappear within seconds of the first day available.
you'll be lucky to find a private park with anything available. you'll have to go inland to find anything.

i know you won't be using it in a campground but it might even be too noisy with you inside.
that's going to be one loud son of a gun.:E

RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

Here's a picture from our site last weekend.

Does anyone else do something like this?
no, i would never do something like that in a campground with neighbors. i'm assuming you also had outside speakers.
maybe if i was boondocking and had no neighbors that i would be disturbing.
to me, that's not camping. if it floats your boat that's fine, as long as i wouldn't have to camp next to you.
i wouldn't appreciate being next to a drive-in theater.

RE: First timer

I never imagined so great responses from people..
thanks guys..
The RV I am thinking is
http://www.cruiseamerica.com/rent/our_vehicles/large_rv.aspx
that is called a Class C Motorhome, not a 6 person seater.
@Bikendan - I want to stop and go in the day time and camp during evening.
i think you need to do more research on Redwood NP. it's a huge area and you need to get a better idea of how it's laid out and what you want to see. south of Redwood NP, many of the redwoods can be visited right along the Ave. of the Giants, parallel to 101, without entering any "entrance". you can just pull off the road and walk right into them. and you may need to make reservations for campsites, if you plan on visiting in the summer, if any are still available.
So my question was like we have car parking , do we have enough space for R V parking lots in front of entraces to redwood NP ?
meaning can I park any where there is any space.. onbviously no.. right ???
there are no "entrances" to Redwood NP. it's made of a number of national and state land parcels. there will a number of separate entrances to different areas, parks and campgrounds.
visitor centers will have parking spaces for the motorhome.

RE: The Shakedown...our successful first trip out.

Not to highjack this thread but I just recently bought my first hybrid and i have no owners manual. A 2003 Starcraft Travelstar 21rb.
How can I learn how the water system in my camper works, whether it be filling the holding tank, or using a site with a water hookup? Are they all the same?
Thanks in advance!
you should've started your own separate thread, since the original post was someone talking about their first trip and not asking how the water system works.

RE: Bought a used HTT today!

As far as weight distributing hitches goes, you most definitely need one! I am not usually one to go over board on safety equipment but with your tow vehicle I wouldn't feel safe or at ease without o e.
if you read your owner's manual, it will tell you that one is required over a certain tongue weight, which i'm sure you'll be at.

i think you'll have to go inland to find anything, unless someone cancels.
most July campsites in the area, are gone by February.

RE: First timer

first, it would help if you told us what type of RV(class A, B, C motorhome?) and model, instead of a 6-7 seater RV.
second, not sure how much research you've done on Redwood NP, but it's pretty big and there's lots of options to drive and visit.
do you plan on camping there or just make stops along the way?
and 299 is windy and you'll need to pull over if you are driving only 45mph, to let traffic by.
there's no high elevation along there or 101. DON'T take Highway 1 south of Leggett. not for first-timers. stay on 101.

we've been trying to get to Mt. Madonna all year, but life keeps getting in the way.
hoping to get over there before summer starts, cause we refuse to camp in the summer.
we'll wait until school starts again to go camping.

RE: Truck or SUV recommendations

The Sticker inside the cabinet says 4963 with no water etc.
I am probably going to get a Ford f150 with the 5.4 or the Toyota Tundra if I can affort it :)
good idea, wayyy too much trailer for a Tacoma.:E
make sure it has the factory tow package with a good towing rear end ratio.

RE: looking for tongue weight KZ Coyote 23 clt

I've got a 2003 KZ Coyote 23 CLT (bunk popouts in front and on both sides, no slideouts), and I need to know its tongue weight (looking at purchasing a smaller tow vehicle). The spec sticker on the outside of the trailer has fallen off, so all I know is its unloaded weight which is 3306 (from a sticker inside the trailer). Its not listed in the trailer manual. Anyone here have this trailer and know its tongue weight? Thanks
why don't you weigh it yourself?:h that would be more accurate than someone quoting a brochure "dry" weight.
you can use a regular bathroom scale to do it.
i've actually never seen any other owner of this model, other than you, on any hybrid forum. so you might have a long wait for a response.

if you had checked Aerolite's website, it would have directed you to the site that has more downloadable manuals and info, than any other RV manufacturer that i've ever seen.

RE: Bed end support conversion

from this question being asked a number of times, all the manufacturers that responded, said a big NO.
the hybrids with cable supports, have bunk door frames/trailer structure engineered to support the cables. yours doesn't.
it would be the same as trying to convert a popup with pole supports, to the newer cable-supported popups.
totally engineered differently.
i wouldn't sleep on it.

RE: Cali beach or waterfront

just be aware, there is huge competition for what you want and most state park coastal sites are gone in seconds, 6 months in advance.
there are very few private campgrounds with what you want and they are also gone quickly.
if you're going to be there off-season and during the week, you might get lucky.
now, if you go to NorCal(north of San Francisco), it's easier to get sites.
