RE: MiFi Service

You may also want to think about software updates... GPS, laptops, etc. The Garmin map updates, for example, are quite large. If you can have 3gb for $60 and 20gb for $70, I'd certainly go with the 20gb plan. Just 1gb overage will cost you that 10 bucks.

RE: courgar 27RLSWE H20 pump location

On my Cougar 29BHS, I pulled the water inlet (where the hose attaches) and found the pump behind it. This was the only access I was able to find.

RE: NEW "I'm not sure I'd normally post this..." THREAD

I hear you... really, I do. From one widower to another, you're going to have to find a way to release it. It'll eat you up. And she certainly would not want that. (That last tidbit was given to me by a grief counselor.)
If you have something actionable, hand it over to a lawyer or three... and find a way to move on. Trust me... I know.

RE: Pets are NOT to be left unattended... what??

I think the "no unattended" is how they run off those that would be a problem. I've seen the clause in many, many park rules pages. If your dog, like mine, sleeps and (quietly) guards the house I'm gone... as mentioned above, what's in my rig is my own business.
And, yes... for those who would find leaving her alone at all objectionable, I have two A/Cs and auto generator start. Just saying.

RE: What the heck is this

I got 20 bucks of this silicone...
Just a humble opinion here... if you spend some time reading on this Forum before you jump, you'll be much more effective when you do jump. For example, a search here for something along the lines of "roof caulk" would have told you to stay away from silicone on the roof as well as what caulk you SHOULD use on your particular roof material. There is a wealth of knowledge here and plenty of folks to answer even the question never seen before (good luck coming up with a question never seen before :) ). But read and/or post BEFORE you jump.

Would need more info about which rig and/or light you have. Perhaps you can find it among these Jayco light parts?

RE: Tire Replacement

Let's say you ran them for another year or two... you would have saved 1/7th or 1/8th of the cost of new tires. If you replaced with Michelins, you're talking about saving... maybe 700 bucks. In my opinion, peace of mind is worth WAY more than $700. Replace them with Michelin XZA2 Energy and drive down the road with one less concern.

RE: Kill the Suds

Not trying to be a smart%#$* but... less soap. I'd bet everyone in your rig could cut their soap use quantity in half, if not more. For example, I put a squirt of Dawn in a small spray bottle, fill with water and use that to do dishes for several days if not a week. I just spray the dishes, lightly scrub and rinse.

RE: The new Xantrex SW3012 claims 10ms switching...

The issue with sensing shore power is a function of the transfer switch, which in your case prioritizes the gen feed.
The new SW3012 says it even senses (by computer) loads bigger than what the generator can handle and adds inverter power to subsidize... for a large start up like an A/C compressor, for example. Surely such an intricate switch would also recognize the returning of shore power and turn off the generator through the Auto Generator Start function/option. Am I mistaken???

The new Xantrex SW3012 claims 10ms switching...

The new Xantrex SW3012 (pure sine wave inverter/charger/power management) claims 10 millisecond switching between shore power, generator and inverter saying "Connected loads are almost unable to feel the power transition". Does this mean the Dish receiver will not reset, for example?
The problem with my Freedom 458 has always been that it did not have the ability to sense shore power. So... if the shore power went kablooie and the inverter drained the batteries sufficiently and the Auto Gen Start started the generator, all of this would be unaffected when the shore power came back on. It did not have the ability to sense the existence of shore power. Apparently, the new SW3012 fixes that.
Now, I'm trying to find out from you electrical gurus if electronics like the Dish receiver, TV, Microwave, etc will notice a 10ms gap or just keep cranking along like nothing happened.
Thanks for the help.

RE: CW does it again

Last thing I looked at on the Camping World website was about a pound in weight (an LP Detector, I believe it was) and they wanted 14 bucks to ship it by "slow boat". This item could have easily shipped in a USPS Priority box for half that amount and been here in two to three days. Camping world... I love your store but, if you don't get with the program on the shipping, Amazon Prime is going to bury you.

RE: A couple of battery questions

The simple answer is a car battery is all about cranking amps... big juice for a short period of time. Deep cycle is about steady juice over an extended period.

RE: Decent alternatives to Splendide all in one?

I had an appliance repair guy troubleshooting a burned out board on an eight year old Splendide and Westland quoted around 300 bucks just for the board. We decided to pronounce it dead and replace with new. I asked the appliance guy about the lesser priced units available (at the time, Camping World had one or two cheaper brands of the all-in-one units) and he said Splendide is the only one he would buy. He said, in this case, you really get what you pay for.

RE: paying before trailer is here

Call the bank and see if they'll adjust. It's hard to believe they've already paid for a unit that hasn't been manufactured yet. They can only say yes or no... so I'd ask.

RE: Splendide W/D

If you haven't experienced the Westland customer service yet, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Their parts and service folks are truly knowledgeable and will actually walk you through whatever you need to know. Doesn't sound like you need the help but I sure valued their willingness to help and the knowledge behind it.

One of these years I'd like to get my hands on a bottle of 23 year Old Pappy Van Winkle. Until then, Crown Reserve and a cube or two is a fine choice.

RE: Splendide W/D

Westland is the USA distributor so... no. You could have an appliance repair guy do it but his parts, too, come from Westland.
Are you using an under and over voltage power management system of some kind? It is highly suggested as these units, like many other things, do not like unstable power.

RE: How do you handle Internet Services?

We run our business from the road, so we have to have consistent internet.
We use Verizon's MiFi. 4G service where available, 20GB/month for $59/month. Only one place over the last three years have we been disappointed with the service.
I, for one, would like to know how you get 20gb per month for $59. I'm 10gb for $80 and $10 per gb overage. Sometimes we use 25gb per month. I'd love to find cheaper.
sprint unlimited for $65.00.
No, the question was how he gets Verizon 20gb for $59, not Sprint. Had Sprint. It was way too slow.

RE: Wrecked RV

Get a good lawyer. This isn't just collision... it's company liability. Sure, the other parties mentioned above can be part of it but I'd venture to say a good lawyer will more than pay for him/herself.
