RE: Flood! What now?

Never leave your RV with the water on. Always shut it off and you can never have this problem again. Pogoil. Even if we leave to go to grocery store, we always turn our water off.

RE: Narrowed down to 2 choices........maybe?

Tiffin. Alabama is closer to you than (Oregon?) Tiffin is the original family-owned company. Fleetwood is a new creation through acquisition. Both good products but when I say Bob Tiffin; need I say more? Anyone who has dealt with this fine gentleman will likely agree. We looked at Tiffin a few years ago. They seemed ok (can't say much more than that since we have never owned one so was only looking "on the surface") and I hear they stand behind their product. However, just talked to someone day before yesterday that stated the factory had 150 coaches waiting for service, they do NOT make appointments and you park on dirt, with the techs in and out and tracking all that dirt inside. I know I could take the coach elsewhere, and would have to because that would never work for me. A woman I talked to said their Zypher is gross when they are done, due to all the dirt inside, every time they are there. Just what I hear. You do see a zillion of their coaches on the road. #1- They DO make appointments if your coach is 2 years old or newer. #2- The techs DO NOT track in and out while you are parked at your site. The inside of the building has concrete flooring and if requested the techs will wear shoe covers. These statements are so not true. And yes, I meant some of these words to be in caps because I can't believe that someone would actually say this.

RE: Pilot Frequent Fueler Program

We applied for and use the Pilot/Flying J card from Good Sam. It allows us in our tier, to get 6 cents a gallon off of the cash price. It is so much easier to pull into the truck pump island, fill up and pull out in a much easier and faster pace than the RV pump. I know people have bashed Pilot but if you look at the cash prices on the billboards and compare them with Pilot with the discount, there is just no comparison for the ease of this program. To each his own, and I have come to the conclusion that diesel pumps and prices are like everyone has their own opinion. This is just mine.

RE: CG near Raleigh NC??

Going to a wedding on June 1. Looking for a nice place near Raleigh. Thought about staying at one of the CG's along 95 but would prefer someplace closer if possible. We have been looking for years....nothing as far as a commercial campground , but the fairgrounds has a new campground that is now open...looks and operates just like a regular campground....has level backin sites with 50 amps, water and sewer hookups at each site...really nice place...It is near NC State Univ...big place ,at 1025 Blue Ridge Rd....can call security ,which manages the campground at 1-919-612-6797...Chuck For $25 a night too!! We go there often as a matter of fact just for a weekend "getaway". Doesn't matter where we are, just as long as we are camping! Check them out. It is very secure. Security guys patrol 24/7.

RE: Replacement Water Filter Cartridge

IMHO, you get what you pay for. Some filters will filter out sand, others only boulders....some will last a year and others last only a few months. Buy the cheapies and see if you're ok with the taste and purity of the water. If you really want to cheap out, bypass the filter completely and see if you like the taste of the water. If not, start with the cheapies and work your way up the food chain until you find taste and purity you can live with. For us, the Everpure fills the bill, your mileage may vary...just sayin....Dennis But this is being calculated on being used on a daily basis. Unless you full time, I just do not see the need for it be replaced every year.

RE: Replacement Water Filter Cartridge

I agree that the quality of the filter is excellent. Problem is that removing it to winterize means that is should be thrown away. Is there a way to store the filter safely for the winter? I let mine sit in the sink for a couple of days to drain after winterizing. I then put it in a ziplock bag and place it in the veggie bin in the fridge until ready to reinstall. Works for us.

RE: Small crock pot liners - revisited

I gave up on them. I still had to wash out a small amount of leakage. I figured if I had to do that I might as well soak it overnight and clean as usual. X 1 We also got tired of them sticking and causing a bigger mess.

RE: OLD HWY 41 NO 3, Cartersville, GA

We are looking for a place to park our motor home to sleep. Our son has built a house in Kennesaw but has no furniture yet for us to sleep there! So we will not be there all day. Not looking for a destination spot just a place to park and sleep. Thanks folks.

RE: RV Show in Raleigh NC

We also went to the show this morning. Saw a lot of units too but really couldn't even seriously any of them. Couldn't make it in the door of the 500k unit. We really liked the floor plan and look of the Winnebago Via. If we ever downsize, that unit will be at the top of our list. Just not ready for that step yet.

OLD HWY 41 NO 3, Cartersville, GA

Has anyone stayed here or have any knowledge of this campground? It has not been reviewed on RVParkreviews.com since 2007. Thanks.

RE: buttonwood inlet rv park -- new management style

Obviously for someone who needs long term, Buttonwood will not work for you. While I am sorry that this has happened to you, it will make it easier for people like us who still work but needs a place to vacation a lot easier to get into. We discovered Cortez last year and absolutely fell in love with this area of Florida. We vow we will go back again and again. I wish I could winter down there but it is not to be for some time yet. Last year we stayed at Holiday Cove RV Resort. While it was nice enough, it had a little too much "rich" feel for us. And then there is Buttonwood. We will definitely go back! We met the resort manager, Chris, and he was very nice and accommodating to us. They have a camp host for after hours check in and I found his customer service skills to be sorely lacking. The people that were already there were super nice people. We met almost everyone on our street. Yes, I tried to make reservations for next year in March for a week and Chris told me to call back in the late summer. He said he would work it out. So to sum it up, for transient folks like me, this is a great place. But I guess if you want to winter here, it is not a great place for you. To each his own. As Forest Gump said, "That's all I got to say bout that!"

RE: Pilot/ Flying J Discount Card

I have a tough time understanding why I should get a Pilot/Flying J membership card which is just something else to keep up with. If you get 80 gallons of fuel at $4.06 the card gives you a total discount of $1.60 on gas and $2.40 on diesel. If I use my American Express or Mastercard I get between $9.74 and $16.24 (3-5%)What am I missing here? You are not missing anything since the pennies or dimes involved are what is important to you. Here's what is important to me: I'm not retired. When I am on the road, I want to get where I'm going quickly and without hassle. With the Pilot/FJ card, I will guarantee you I am the quickest in and out at the truck Islands. Virtually every other patron does the old routine; Pull-in, fill-up, pull-up, go inside and pay. That final step is often a time consuming PITA. The Pilot/FJ card allows me to pull-in, swipe, fuel-up, and get the hell out of there. This is important to me, especially on a day like my return from Key West over the holidays where I drove straight thru from St Augustine to home. For me, that time savings is worth far more than a few pennies on the gallon I MIGHT save somewhere else or with some other credit card. As always, YMMV. :-) We feel the exact same way!

RE: First Purchase and now first trip!!!

Congrats on your purchase and have safe and happy travels. There are several resources that we use when traveling. One is this one I use for finding campgrounds. The other that I use for finding fuel, food, shopping and also campgrounds is this site. This is a subscription website but I feel it is well worth the money. They also have a travel book that you can purchase from Amazon if you are traveling and do not want to look it up on the internet. Good luck.

RE: Philadelphia to Florida

from SE PA I take 95 into Delaware . hop on 896 to 301 to 50.. cross the CB Bridge and back onto 301 S down to Bowling Green and back on 95 S. then 295 around Richmond back to 95.. The only way I stay on 95 threw the big cities is in the middle of the night...Joe x1 When we lived in Philly, traveling south to visit the folks, this was the ONLY way we traveled!

RE: I may be upgrading...

I looked at a lot of MHs today, we liked what we saw and price of a FR Georgetown 335. While the coach looks very nice, I noticed on the floor plan that the queen bed is a short queen. Don't know if it matters to you or not but it is only 74" and not the traditional 80". While I am definitely vertically challenged, this 6" was huge even to me in a previous unit we owned for a very short period of time.
