I agree with you guys but don't laugh. Before we decided to go the Crossroads Cruiser route the Open Ranges were on our list. If you go to the Open Range forum there are a couple guys pulling a 337 rls with Tundras. I only have a 2500 chev but questioned the weight for my own truck. I was replied that they are pulling with Tundras with air bags for a boost. I thought I would be maxed out but they are the 1/2 ton, currently towing these models out there.

Actually the border is the easiest. We only pay the infamous 5 per cent gst and about 200 inspection fee and off we go. That is why so many people bring up cars and rv's from the U.S. as when you find out the cost it is minimal and quite easy as long as you have all the correct paperwork.

You guys think 5-6 k is a lot. You should see the dealers up here in Canada. I am just waiting to sell off my old trailer before buying from RVW and the price difference on 30sk Provincial is going to be in the area of close to 15-17k. That is even if I pay the $2600 to have it delivered and meet the driver at the border. That is way too much for a small difference and support the local guys. I know they probably sell more and get a better deal form the mfg but where is the point that as a buyer you cannot afford to buy a product because the price difference is way out of line. The fellow from RVW claims on an email he sent they send 250 units a year just to Alberta alone. Even if that is a high number that means a lot of Canadian dealers a are missing a lot of sales and service as well being they won't service what they won't sell.

Yes the Champion is a bit louder and I have one. I also have a Kipor 2000 watt as well from when they first came out. I used it on my old unit that had no air so extra wattage was not important. If I don;t need air and going to a busier campground I will throw in the small one for sound as I can run everything off it but the air. When I am going Boondocking or need air I will take the Champion. I think the biggest thing is the Kipor, Honda's and Yamaha's run in eco mode which makes them idle slower and more quiet. The Champion is pretty much going full tilt all the time. Too the ear the Kipor doesn't sound much quieter when it is all reved up with a full load but if just a small load or charging the batteries you can hardly hear it run.

Put in better quality. Maybe not the best but heavier steel pots and pans seem to always yield better results. Why not enjoy your food out while away the same as at home. The extra couple of lbs won't make a lot of difference in your weight.

We have looked at several of both over the last couple of months. In particular the Open Range 337 and Cruiser cf30sk. We liked both for layout but like the cruiser even better for the kitchen layout. Both appear to be well built. To address the quality be sure to compare the cruiser Patriot/Provincial models to the Open Range. The cruiser has the upgrade insulation, 16" wheels,dual pane windows, suspension etc. The saver on the Open range seems to be the weight factor on the cable slides. This would allow a lighter towing weight for those running close to the limit. Our verdict is the Cruiser. Just waiting to sell off my KZ then will be ordering.

I have the Goodyear silent armours as well. Came with the truck and have put 2 good camping years so far. Go ice fishing through the snow as well and never get stuck or close to it. I will probably replace with another set when the time comes

Been there done that. I have an older 98 with same engine and 3.55 rear that I first towed my current trailer around 6k. It towed ok on the flats but slow go on the hills. I would suggest going to a bigger motor and chassis or change gears as mentioned if you can but a 5k trailer taking it easy would work. The last couple of years I have been towing with a 6.0l 2500hd and what a difference. It is still not the most powerful thing out there but tows like a dream. I would recommend the 3/4 ton to anyone but the little f-150 got us by until we could go to a bigger tv.

One of the features we like besides heating the trailer well is that the outside does not get hot to the touch. The only hot area is directly in front where the heat comes out. The rest of the unit gets just warm at best.

being from Canada we have the same issues you guys in the south have from China. I try to buy made in USA or Canada first but sometimes is tough. I work retail and have to say we have some products now where most of the internal components come from China. The prices are always less due to costs and people buy them like crazy. The funny part is no one ever questions why some are so much less. I think we have to get back to buying quality first before price. I see the Chinese products first hand and see some of it is pretty suspect but people now put that secondary. Alot of it is in consumer awareness and retraining to look after ourselves first......

I think we both replied on a similar thread earler as we are kind of both looking for the same features. We liked the 337 model as well except the length and lack of underneath storage. We were out looking last week and came upon a similar floorplan in a Sunnybrook Bristol Bay. Nice quality, similar layout, and a couple feet shorter. May one to look at one if you want to save a foot or 2 in length. We do a lot of bush camping and length makes it tough to get into some areas as well.

I had same issues and ran my Spybot program and it picked up a few things my Norton didn't. After that everything worked as normal. My wife had the same on hers as well. I am guessing some spyware from a website.

If you have access to an air compressor just blow out the lines. We have the same issue here in Alberta this time of year. We do camp all year long but we have some cold night the next few but will be nice and warm again next week. Once winter sets right in for good I fill the lines with antifreeze. Make sure you open the low point drain as well while blowing out and do the outside shower and toilet tank sprayer if you have one as well. I finf when blowing out the lines first you only need to add a small amount of antifreeze to finish when winter arrives. Other thing if you can plug in is to leave some heat on low and keep the cupboard doors open so lines in behind stay warm as well. I have been doing this for years and it works very well.

We are in the great white north as well. We go out in Alberta all year long. We have a slide cover but put it out, turn on the heat, the tv, have a pop or 2 and enjoy. We have never had problems with slides etc. due to freezing or sticking.
