I want to get a TPMS before heading out on a trip and was wondering who has gotten good price, service & product from a place. All ideas welcome.
Thanks

RE: what's ya'lls opinion on this for a first time purchase?

All of that model Onan generator looked that way when mounted correctly. There is not a mounting problem there. If there are no water leaks it could be a good MH. The Honey was all wood framing so was susceptible to rot.

RE: Finding dual pane windows on a used motorhome

If you go a little farther than the windows you will find Newmar even lists the R factor for insulation in the walls floors and ceilings. That makes a big difference when you see someone with a 37'MH asking why their 2 ACs won't keep it cool. We were in 95F once with only 30 amp service so could only run 1 AC and we stayed comfortable. We would have liked to run both but couldn't on 30 amp.

RE: Health

I also had the L3,4,5 fused. Now when someone tells me I have a screw loose I never know which one they are talking about.

RE: Gas prices

I had a woman in a Prius ask me about wasting gas when I was filling up one time. I told here mine was built entirely in the US and just a little South of us in Indiana so I didn't ship any money overseas for a car. We didn't agree but I still enjoy my MH for all the reasons Effy gave above. I don't tow a foreign car either. I buy "Made in the USA" whenever possible.

RE: How much aux brake effect should I be sensing?

Do you get the green light on you MH control switch? I can just give the lever a little flip and feel that in the mh if only going about 15mph.

RE: HELP! What does this NEWB need?!

I have to laugh when I see people who want to add 5-10 gal. of water to the black tank. If you have a 15 or 18 gal. tank like a small trailer will have the tank is 3/4 full before you start to use it.

RE: 2013 Ford Explorer

40 sq. ft. is 5X8 ft; 7X 5'8", or similar figures. There are a few that would fit inthat category. I remember the good old days when you could tow with your car as it came off the showroom floor.

RE: How to use Generator

One of the big reasons for not turning things on until the generator has stabilized is to eliminate sparking and excessive loads on the auto transfer switch. They don't have one so why not just leave the cord plugged in the gen. outlet unless you have CG access to an outlet? Just don't turn on any big loads until the genny has stabilized on speed.

RE: Dumping holding tanks explained... Sorta.

One of the best cartoons I saw was when a 6-7 year old girl asked her mother what "virgin" meant. Mom went into the whole explanation. Next the girl asked what does "extra virgin" mean. The mother looked and thinks Oh crap, she's talking about olive oil.

RE: Automatic steps

You don't state the brand of steps but if they are Kwikee there is no manual use of them. They do not have enough oomph to hold them in either position without the motor. When you put any weight on them they will slide all over the place. The motor is usually from a Ford power window. Mine is 3 steps and is from a '79 Lincoln LF. Others have found Taurus motors work. Be very careful when working on them. They have enough torque to break or remove fingers or anything else in their way.

RE: whit lithium grease

For a very aggressive corrosion site like boat springs in salt water use I will paint them with 30 weight motor oil twice a year. Hypiod 90 gear oil will not evaporate very quickly either
I have had a couple of boats but none had springs. Does that help in taking the waves?

RE: Electric Steps

The magnet is usually a small bar on the screen door that comes close enough to the switch to make the reed switch close. The magnet is usually an inch or less in length. There are no wires to the magnet but there should be 2 wires leading from the switch. These are both found on the side of the door away from the hinge.

RE: Repair help on leak in '93 Tioga while full-timing

First tip is to ditch the silicone. Silicone does not work on RVs. The constant flexing on an RV will cause the silicone to open up very small spots for water to get through. Nothing else will ever stick to silicone once it is on your RV. Scrape all of the silicone off and use Dicor and Eternabond tape for a lasting seal. Eternabond tape was originally made to seal underwater lines while they were still underwater. It is rather expensive but works.

RE: Ugh- found some water in the overhead bunk- what to do.

This is the reason I don't want another C. We have had 2 C's and had the same problem on both of ours. My personal opinion is that all that weight stuck out in front with no support just invites that kind of leaking. Unless you get one of the high end models with one piece fibreglass you will probably end up with a leak sooner or later.

RE: step question

Leaving it plugged in during storage could be very bad for your batteries. Depending on your charger/convertor it could boil the batteries dry. You need one that will actually go to idle and not overcharge the batteries. Double check what the manual says about that.

RE: Advice on auto rentals

BY RK911 before you spend dollar one on anything having anything to do with towing be certain you know your weight ratings and actual weights of the MH and trailer/MC combination. in our experience it's not at all uncommon to find motorhomes that are, essentially, overweight as they come off of the assembly line. don't assume....know.
Those days are pretty much in history. With so many people and the gov. being aware of the GVW limits I haven't seen any new RVs that can't tow.

RE: Alfa See Ya

Their history dates back to being founded by John Crean, who was the founder of a little compamy called Fleetwood. He wanted to do one more MH that would have everything as standard and extra height with high HP and easy to drive. As stated the sidewall company had problems and the delamination problems were what drove everyone to the point of bankruptcy. I think Mr. Crean died in the midst of the problems and left his son to take over.

RE: 1992 itasca sunrise

The springs in the P30 were not added by the motorhomme builder. They were an original part from Chevrolet and the chart from the 1995 manual is correct. The coach will handle much better with proper air pressure.

RE: Advice on auto rentals

One time we decided to not tow and rent from enterprise. They didn't have anyone available to come and get me but had a car if I could get there. I managed to scrounge a ride there. They had NO car and I wasa stranded. I had to get an expensive taxi back to the MH. That was my first and last time for Enterprise. It is not much different to tow a small car. I have towed since getting my second MH back in '89. It won't take long to get used to driving the MH. I would check out towing 4 down with an easy brake system to hook up. We can hookup in less than 5 minutes (quicker in rain) and we are set to go.
