RE: Ham Radio as a hobby?
Too bad you didn't post this a month ago, my mother just gave my Dad's whole room away for $300. He had amps,antenna's,3 radios,1 mobile , you name it. She's been waiting to clean out his room after he past last year. I'd search for estate sales if I were looking. kv4ib
RE: Ford 250 V10
That, and the GM 8.1 should tow pretty good without getting into a diesel. I won't trade my diesel for one, but I'd trade it for one before a newer diesel with all the emission junk on it, what's the sense . I'd just drive a little slower and get the same mileage as the new diesels, and buy a beater car with the difference to drive around town.
RE: 3.42 Gears????
It would be nice to have those 3.73's , there's quite a difference between the two. Have a gear change worked into the deal before you sign the papers, if buying new. The dealer can do it if they want your business.
RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel
It depends if your a gambling man really. I'd stand clear of them, but that's just 20yrs. in the industry talking. Also I know pretty much all of the techs around here that work at the big3 dealers, so I hear all the stories coming from out of the shops to make my conclusions from.
RE: Greasing wheel bearings
Hand packing is the best way to go, because eventually you'll blow grease into your brake linings, and then have a bigger more expensive mess to deal with. Every-time I hand pack my brakes, I find something needs attention anyway, so I do them once a year now.
RE: Most reliable laptops?
I've got a couple Toshiba's myself that are still cooking along fine after 3 yrs, and a 7yr. old Dell that I can't kill if I wanted too.
RE: Ya gotta love printer mfrs!
Agree, and the next time you upgrade your windows operating system, you'll probably also need a new printer because of no driver support for you 6 month old printer. They can produce these printers faster overseas than they can write software for them.:B My son wanted a Gibson copy guitar for Christmas, I said BS on that, I bought him an original Gibson for 3 times the price, but I might have saved somebodys job in Nashville, not in China.
RE: Basic Diesel Ownerhip tricks
I just change my filters, and fluids when I'm supposed too, and just get in and drive. Basically it's less maintenance then a gas vehicle because there are no plugs and wires to worry about.
RE: Picked up fiver and made 1st mistake
I can't use my slider in the rear position with the tailgate on, the trailers pin extension hits my tailgate by about 1/4 inch. You really have to check things out these days before you have all systems go, nothings the way it seems.
RE: How many tire balancing weights are TOO many?
Bring it back, and have them remount it. Or go to Walmart, and get the life time balance, and keep coming back until you like where it ends up.
Could be the heavy side of the tire is mounted with the heavy end of the rim too, it happens.
RE: New Gasser HD trucks-Horsepower Wars are On! (soon)
You'd better own a gas station, or know someone that does.:S , and you don't get those numbers running low compression, so be ready to pay for premium fuel too.
RE: A True PC vs. Mac Usage Comparison
I can see it, the introduction of Vista had folks standing there scratching their heads for a year or so, and now MS 7 is just a exciting patch for the problems with Vista, Oh boy can't wait. I still like MS, because of the gaming, and hardware availability, so I'll never own a Mac for those reasons, but for someone that just wants a clean running OS for typical uses, I think a Mac might be the way to go, and that's what your seeing. I mean with MS, latest OS is the greatest thing, for what, two years, and now this is new one is so much better. How many times can folks be fooled by that crap. Don't forget now you need more memory for this new OS, and don't forget to buy a new printer because that mfg doesn't make drivers for this great new OS, there's a pattern going that sure keeps folks buying, and don't forget the new cables for your new printer, because your old ones won't work.:B
RE: Trailer Delivery
Can't help with any suggestions, but it would of been nice to pick it up yourself, and do an inspection before you left there. I guess you can't wait and pick it up, because you'd really been in the dead of winter. I think their prices are pretty much the going rate from what I've heard for transporting it. I see you like guitars, I just bought a Gibson Studio fireburst/gold hardware for my son Saturday, should be delivered this week ,I can't wait to see it, and of course try it out myself. Good Luck!
RE: Advice on a truck
That's a cool looking truck, but I like the manual trans.. On those trucks you need to put a fuel pressure warning sensor on the fuel line $60 coming from the tank pump, because when the lift pump near the tank fails, it takes out the injection pump $3500, real quick,it's worth the $60 for the warning light.
