RE: 2006 coachmen clipper classic 1270st pop-up

I bought my trailer new and this is the third season using it. I find the build quality to be good. Not a huge difference from Fleetwood or Jayco (I think). No major repairs up to now. Maybe a screw coming loose here or there.

RE: fleetwood/coleman accesories

Got my vanity mate from E-bay for $40, new! Can't go wrong with that.

RE: awning poles

Never use to secure them to the ground, always had it latched on to the brackets on the camper. But after a freak storm with high winds and having bent a pole, I will certainly secure them down to the ground. I'm thinking of using cork screw anchors in the ground.

RE: PUP in the wind

I was wondering the same thing about wind and pups. Last trip a T-storm came by so fast I had no time to adjust the awning. One of the main extension poles got bent beyond repair. I was not in the pup when the high winds came (outside holding onto the awning) but my kids freaked out and my 4 year old was in tears because everything was rocking. What made it worse was that the awning was catching the wind (as it was still down) and pushing against the pup making it sway alot more than if the awning was up. Other than my bent pole and a frightening experience for the kids, the pup was just fine. Wondering if tying the awning down would have prevented the damaged pole. Live and learn.

RE: what a neat old camper

Love the swing out. Just what I need for the kids. I was thinking of getting a portable sink so that kids don't keep treading mud and dirt inside the trailer everytime they need to wash their hands. Also perfect for washing dishes. Some of the best ideas never make it to the production line.

RE: Awning Pole replacement

Thanks fairfaxjim! Where did you get the list? Yes I do have the campout awning and yes the part I need is on this list. I hope a dealer near me can get me the part I need.

Awning Pole replacement

During our last trip, we had a quick thunder storm sweep by which resulted in one of our awning poles to bend beyond repair. Can I get just that particular pole? Our awning a a carefree of Colorado.

Keeping trailer open for the season

This question may have been asked before. What are the disadvantages of keeping a pup open for the season? I don't need to worry about break ins. What I'm concerned about is the lift system. Does keeping it open affect the cables in the lift system? How about canvas problems? Too much sun not good?

RE: Alternative to the Quick Silver 5.0/6.0 & Motorcycle campers

How would this be an alternative to motorcycle campers? Just wondering?

RE: porta potti privacy issue

Don't know what year you're Utah is, but an option would be to have a cassete toilet installed. There is a privacy curtain that does the job pretty well. You would have to sacrifice the storage cabinet that would have to be removed in place for the cassete toilet.

RE: What's this cable

This is not an electrical wire. It is a guide cable that will tell you when to stop cranking up the roof. Take it to the dealer and they should install that end where it supposed to go.

RE: Arrrghhh!

God's blessings come very disguised. Try to make the best of the situation. Things always work out for our own good. We just can't see it sometimes (most times).

RE: Adding Extra Propane Tank

I've got 2 tanks on mine and use one strictly for the trailer itself (furnace, hot water & stove) and the other one is just for my BBQ. Have never run out during a season. It will increase your tongue weight so keep that in mind if your tongue weight is critical.

RE: Fantantic Vent Installation

Bumpyroad, the vent covers don't require removal of the old one. However the unit I would be interested in (MaxxFan) does require you to remove the old one. Too expensive for me though. Might just go with a Fantastic brand.

RE: Fantantic Vent Installation

Hey Klohey, have you started this upgrade yet? I'm looking into diong this as well. I would really like to know how to remove the old one out of there. It seems to have a very hard white cement like sealant or adhesive.

RE: Jayco 1206 vs coleman Utah

Aside from build quality, the only layout difference would be the bunk sizes. I believe the Utah has 2 king beds where the Jayco 1206 has one king and one queen. Also, I'm not sure if you can get a casette toilet for the Jayco, where as the Utah has the option for a casette toilet or the toilet/shower option. With the Jayco it's either a full toilet/shower option or a porta potti cabinet. Then there is the position of the galley. Jayco has it away from the toilet, the Utah is right in front of the toilet. Both trailers are nice and the Coleman and Jayco names are pretty solid. If it were me I'd go for the Utah.

RE: 2007 Clipper 1465 HST how good is it?

I'm with NC Hauler. I have had nothing but good experience with my trailer. Have had mine for 2 years and this will be the third season in it and everything works good. Coachmen (now Forest River) have only been making high walls for a couple of years and I haven't heard much about those.

Vanity Mate

Just purchased a brand new Vanity Mate for $40 from e-bay. What a deal! I was quoted between $120 to $220 from various dealers. My question is ... Should I replaced the ridiculous piece of plastic that is supposed to be a mirror with a real glass mirror? I know there is a reason why it is not glass in the first place. Just want to know if anybody has made this mod to it and if theirs has every broken during travel, take down or popping-up?
