RE: New Blue Ox Bed Saver

So I guess most of you folks poo-pooing the bedsaver are also foregoing insurance for your trailer, house, medical, and vehicles?
One hopes they never need it.
Mine is insured. Just not double and triple insured :B

RE: Bed saver and B & W companion hitch

Been talked about many times over but the bed saver is not needed with the B&W. It is open or closed, no guess work. If you are just too busy with other stuff happening around you not to pay attention enough that you won't drop your expensive rig on your expensive truck then get a bed saver. The other hitches that you have to guess or can't see the hitch pin easy the bed saver is a no brainer.

Air pressure when not towing

I run my truck tires at max or close to max when towing (80psi). Was thinking about lowering them down when not towing. Anyone else do that ?

Water fill issue

I have a 2009 Heartland that has the water fill issue. During these years of production they didn't run the vent tube very good so it sometimes fills with water if I overfill the fresh water tank. Sometimes raising the front of the camper will let the water out of the vent tube or forcing some air down the tube.
After dewinterizing this year I was sanitizing the fresh tank and I was filling and draining it a couple times. When running the water to flush the lines I dumped the grey tanks twice during the sanitizing process and when I would pull the release valves the vent tube would instantly start breathing like it does when I force air down it when it has water in it and the fresh water won't fill
Question is.. Why would pulling the grey tank valves cause the fresh water tube to open up and breath like that. How would those two be connected ?

RE: Caulking Nightmare..Not happy

That is way to much around the middle vent. Might cause more issues since it looks like water could sit inside the vent area since the caulk is creating like a dam type effect.

RE: B&W Companion

Love mine. You never see threads from B&W users talking about issues with hooking up or dropping the fiver on the truck bed

I have a little squat when hooked up. It drops about 1". Never really thought/worried about it

RE: STill shopping....let's talk hitches

B&w. impossible to high hitch. Easy to tell when hooked up correctly. Cost a little more but worth it. No guessing with the b&w. it's hooked or not hooked
How easy to see if hooked up correctly?

RE: B&W Hitching, why have the pin low?

This should be SOP for almost every hitch out there; IMO less so for the Companion, since it's virtually impossible to high-hitch, but still a good habit to get in to. Other hitches are much easier to high-hitch, so having the pin ride up the hitch, compressing the truck's springs a tad, makes it much less likely. YMMV...
Lyle
I agree. WAY less for the Companion. Here is a pic of mine. If you don't notice the B&W 'high hitched' then I don't know what to say.
When hooking up, I do not have the pin lower and force the hitch underneath it. The reasons listed at valid for doing it but not required at all.

RE: Special alert for California RV'ers

Plus the fact that "uninsured motorist" insurance only covers bodily injury, not damage to your vehicle.
Mine does, it fixed my vehicle with no out of pocket expense and no effect on my premiums as I was not at fault. (STATE FARM)
When I was hit by someone with no insurance my uninsured motorist coverage did not apply. It is only for bodily injury as stated except in certain states. My comp or collision covered it, I can't remember which. I have state farm in iowa

RE: Rule of thumb? How many nights a year to justify a camper?

When you add in the costs of inflation every year, plus the costs of servicing the loan, plus the costs of maintaining the asset, absolutely no one 'makes money' on a home, even in your example above. The value you get is in having a place to sleep and spend your downtime..
Not always true. I bought my house as a foreclosure and in the bottom of the market drop. I could resell today and make 100k easy.
