RE: Help ASAP! Slide on Simba won't go in.

Another update just to share the outcome: My brother-in-law decided to take a thorough look around and found a bolt in the storage compartment that had fallen out. It was hidden underneath the stored lawn chairs. He put it back in and the slide operated perfectly. This is a good lesson in not jumping to conclusions before taking a complete look at every bolt and screw to see if something is missing. Their trip will get under way tomorrow...a day late, but with a much wiser owner behind the wheel:) He said to be sure and thank you for the tips and help.

RE: Help ASAP! Slide on Simba won't go in.

Update: Finally understand that the motors on each side are out of sync with each other...that clarified the gear issue. He kept thinking the gear itself was stripped. He's decided to cancel trip and get it into a shop on Monday. Good news, his coverage will cover everything but the $100 deductible. Thanks for the quick replies...he feels better about now knowing how to disengage the motors if this ever happens again.

RE: Help ASAP! Slide on Simba won't go in.

Okay, I'm sharing the info with him. If you disconnect the motor won't there still be a problem with the gears working properly? The problem is one of the gears.

RE: Help ASAP! Slide on Simba won't go in.

There is one main slide operated by a motor. The motor has not failed. He was able to see the problem of the pinion on one side lifting up and slipping the cog and dropping into the next cog...thus making the popping sound.

Help ASAP! Slide on Simba won't go in.

My brother-in-law just called me in a panic. He's leaving on a trip today, went to put in the one slide on his 2006 MH and it's making a popping noise as if a gear is grinding and won't retract. All repair shops are closed. He's reading the manual but I told him I'd quick ask the smart people on this forum. Is there something he should try to fix it?
It operated 2 weeks ago. He's had this MH for a year and this has not happened before. Any help appreciated.

RE: Yellowstone- Fishing Bridge vs. KOA?

We returned from a Yellowstone/Grand Teton trip last week. We stayed at Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone for 5 nights. We would drive into the park early each morning (7:30) and never tired of the same route past the beautiful Madison River in order to get to other attractions. Getting to the more popular sites early really helps avoid the crowds. We packed sandwiches so we never felt pressured to get someplace to eat...as when we were in a 50 minute traffic wait on our way to Canyon Falls while hundreds of bison (there are about 3700 in the herd) crossed the road into Hadden Valley...awesome!
We stayed in Coulter Bay RV Park with full hook-ups in the Grand Tetons and liked it a lot. It took us about 2 hours to drive from West Yellowstone to Coulter Bay.
Have fun on your trip...you'll have a terrific time.

RE: Big Cherry Candy Bar; How I love thee:)

No Haggen's in Washington that I know of. I just may have to order a box of 24 on-line and then ration out one per week...ummm...who am I kidding :W

RE: Big Cherry Candy Bar; How I love thee:)

Hahahaaha...yep, Budster, that's the first thing I did....Google. But, I'm trying to find if there are stores that carry them to avoid having to order boxes. If my search fails, then I will resort to on-line ordering. These things are so yummy, I can't believe they aren't everywhere...cruel, cruel world.

RE: How many out there in Class C's have families?

Although grandparents, we raise our very active 8 year old grandson. We traded in our 3 slide 5th wheel and truck for a 30' Itasca Impulse about 2 years ago and are thrilled we did. We went with the C versus the A because of the overhead bunk...it holds a ton of stuff while traveling, keeps the living area neat when in camp, no setting up a bed every night, and grandson loves his private space/bunk. We also purchased a 2 minute Coleman tent and it has worked like a charm for when others come along and we need extra sleeping space. We assume the grandson will graduate to the tent in a few years. Just returned from a 14 day trip to Yellowstone and like our MH even more.
Side note for what it's worth: We noticed more families seemed to be pulling a travel trailer, probably due to cost and the fact there are so many new design/options. Class A's and 5th wheels were by far the older generation. And a mix with the class C's.

Big Cherry Candy Bar; How I love thee:)

In a little grocery store in West Yellowstone I purchased a candy bar called Big Cherry. It was in a pink wrapper and it had a whole cherry in the center surrounded by a pink cream center and then covered with chocolate and peanuts. I'm now obsessing about it since I've been unable to find it again...not when passing through Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon or Washington. Do any of you know of this candy and what chain stores carry it? I found it online but really don't wish to buy a box of 24 as I would OD on them:)This isn't a cherry mash bar or a cherry mountain bar...just sooooo good. I live in Washington, so any info is appreciated.

Float Trips and other activities in Tetons?

We will be at Coulter Bay RV Park in 2 weeks for 3 nights. One adult in our party has limited walking ability so I am looking for sightseeing experiences besides driving that you can highly recommend.
1. Can you recommend a float trip on the Snake River that you took, the time of day you took it, and the outfit that you booked it through?
2. Is there a boat trip on one of the lakes you would recommend?
3. Is there a scenic view you recommend that takes a minimunm amount of walking to get to from where you park?
4. Is there a museum that you highly recommend?
Any help is appreciated.
