RE: Ridgway state park co

Lots to do in the area and the outside scenery is gorgeous. Why a TV? :) I am not the OP but after Jeeping all day and sitting by the campfire a little while we like to watch TV for a hour or two and relax before going to bed. Also like to keep up with the news but mostly the weather. I really don't want to be washed off the side of a mountain when Jeeping. X2

RE: Blowing your air horn when leaving. What do you want man?

Maybe, just maybe he was saying goodbye to some camping friends/family Maybe, just maybe he was tooting cause the little kid standing there was giving the 'toot your horn' gesture Maybe, just maybe he was giving a 'thank-you' to someone that helped him Maybe, just maybe it didn't have anything to do with you X2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Cool Federal Park/Campgrounds in Colorado

9400ft above sea level, both electric and primitive circles, NF campground accepting senior pass, current high and low daily temps mid-70s and low 40s, reservoir and river fishing nearby, small store/bait shop/restaurant 2 miles from campground. Sound like what you're looking for? See Lakeview Campground, Gunnison, CO (Taylor Park0 .......hope this helps....you only have until Sept 31 to utilize....they close EARLIER if freezing occurs on the water system...

RE: Class A Painting

popeye766, you may want to "hang out your shingle".....I know a lot of pros who couldn't do it any better.......I've had a few old-timers tell me "if you want a job done right, do it yourself"......great job

RE: Class A Painting

Iam in the process of painting my 97 Pace Arrow 34'...$1300.00 materials...have both sides done...paint from Summit racing ..seems as good as PPG...base/clear, metallic silver and candy apple around the waist where those hideous decals were...all bottom compartment doors silver grey. Bumpers black. Decals weren't fun to remove and some outlines still show in fiberglass. The remainder I will buff out after we take a 6 week vacation next mo. Do us all a favor and show finished pics and process when completed.....

RE: Colorado 9/2 Drycamping 2wd.

Since you rode Taylor you must have seen Lakeview cg above the reservoir....good cg but you may have to take a primitive site unless you nab an electric first come/first serve unit (most reservables are booked 6 months out for season)....have camped there the last 2 Septembers for the colors and fishing...can't find a more beautiful photo area for fall (be sure to include Ohio Pass above Crested Butte,2wd road).....good luck Thanks Dadd. I have Ohio pass marked now. Just north of Gunnison to Crested Butte. Any other 2wd passes or roads I should take? I have a dirt bike but I'm not sure if the wife will jump on. Go to Ohio by way of Crested Butte and you can opt for a short sidetrip up Kebbler ..... another pass is Independence between Leadville and Aspen......these are all quakie infested for good color shots....IMHO

RE: To much oil???

Our 5.9 takes 14 quarts, but I believe it's dependent on pan size...be sure your dipstick is calibrated to the pan......check with Cummins for engine SN? IMHO

RE: awnng pull down strap broke

Don't know about other awnings but on mine there is no need to drill an end cap to replace the strap. It slides in the same groove that allows us to hang straps for awning lights, hanging flower pots, screen rooms etc. The groove the strap is in is open at the end of the roller closest to the rear of the motorhome. I have done this alone before. Put your awning control lever/handle in the "down" position. Grab a picnic table and pull it up beside your rig. Grab the awning in the middle and start pulling out and down. The mechinism in the awning should hold it from closing just as it does when you use the strap. Eventually you will see what's left of the broken end of the strap, grab it and continue to deploy the awning until it is fully extended. The awning strap is attached to a plastic "T" in a groove. Slide it towards the rear of the rig and you should see that the groove lines up with a pre-cut slot in the end cap of the roller. Remove old strap, insert new pull down. This has happened to me when I was in the boonies with no replacement strap and nowhere to buy one for 100 miles. If stuck, you can tie some rope around the broken strap leaving enough rope exposed so when the awning is rolled up a piece of rope can be seen. Tie a loop in the end of the exposed rope and you can then use your awning as per normal until you can secure a new pull down. X2

RE: Creede, CO

You could add a few miles to your trip and come in to Lake City on 149 from the north by way of Gunnison...there are SEVERAL nice cg's right in or near Lake City, however, I'm not sure of wi-fi availability.....my 2 cents
