RE: Is this only an Arizona issue ????

Like many here, I hate to have my truck "dinged" in a parking
lot.... as such, I usually park in the "North 40" of any parking
lot I inhabit. Do not mind the hike into the store even in the
low 120's (lie). But, we have a phenomenon here that no matter
how far out I park , when I return to my Truck, sure enough,
right next to me sits a 4 door truck panel chipper. Just to test
my theory... last week... put my sun shade up, and sat in the
truck...in less then 5 minutes some Romeo and Juliet in a miniature
Datsun with a fart pipe pulled up right next to me , blown bass
speakers just a vibratin'... honestly, 75% of the lot was empty....
Does this only happen in Arizona ???
Charles
I had the SAME ISSUE with my Restored 55 Chevrolet Nomad.. I would park away from EVERYONE and sure as sht, some Jack Ass would park right next to it...

RE: Ownership cost between F150HD,F250 Diesel,F350 Diesel Dually

If you are 100 percent positive you won't EVER get a different Trailer, then get the CHEAPO.... However, if there is a slight chance of changing the Trailer, get a big truck. You can even go with a used Diesel.. Difference in 3/4 to 1 ton is Carrying Capacity and Ride.... Ride in a 1 ton is harder than the 3/4 ton..

RE: 2011 Ram 3500 dually 4x4 automatic trans.

I could be wrong but I believe we have a member here ( Cummins12V98 maybe) who pulls a MS 5er. His GCW is like 26-28k and he has 3.42's and the HO engine.
Anyway I haven't heard of any big problems with the tranny or axles. So his trailer has a weight of 20,000 lbs plus???

Have you done a search here yet? There must be a hundred posts about that stuff. Mose say buy it from the despensing pump at large truck stops. If he did a search, I don't think he would be asking, do you?.

RE: What if you had 24k to spend on a TV?

The Dodge is a good choice, front end parts are their downfall.Make sure to have the front suspension checked over by your mechanic before buying. Company I work for runs 8 of them towing trailers and other than oil and fluid changes the only problem is front ends wear out at 50-80,000 miles. Never heard of this... Mine has 80k and not an issue.... tires wearing great!... Where do folks come up with this 'hogwash?".

RE: What if you had 24k to spend on a TV?

As long as you drive it, a diesel it a good option. Just don't expect to actually get 24K out of your Tundra. The 5.9 has always been the bellwether motor for people. It is darn near indestructible as long as you take care of it properly. Take care of it properly? Like how?... We don't need new head bolts or a coolant filter nor a egr delete etc... Just drive the darn thing and follow the "owners manuel".... Its not a fragile engine... DRIVE IT NORMALLY!

If you don't want it to go to waste you could feed it to the neighbors cat that keeps bothering your wife's flower bed.;) Not funny BUTT WEED! RE: Dodge Tranny Issue--Again

Chrysler has been GREAT to me... Out of warranty they covered the lift pump and put the pump in the fuel tank. They also covered the u joints and put an entire new prop shaft in... But I have bought several products from them. Laser, Dakota, Pt Cruiser.... Chrysler warranty has been top notch!!!! GREAT COMPANY!

RE: Why do you full time?

We do it because "we get tired of staring at the same 4 walls". I want to see custer park, sites of the revolutionary war, civil war, New York City, Maine, and the entire country. Can't do it sitting at home cleaning the garage everyday. Then after this, we want to hit Europe!. Then back here again. Some of it is because we don't want to pay property taxes any longer. Tired of supporting Retired State workers Cushy retirements...

RE: Anyone have an F150 with the 5.0?

The 5.0 wont pull a "limp noodle out of a lard bucket". My dad tried to pull his 21 foot boat from Sac. to Lake Tahoe. He said he almost did not make it. He bought a Diesel. Instead of the 5.0 I'd opt for the 4.9 6. Much more torque and a better engine. If you are towing anything more than a tent trailer, get a different engine. Why spend money twice to do the same thing?. The 5.0 is a car engine, and not a very good one at that. It was even in the Pinto. , Mustang, Maverick, Cougar... It is not a tow engine...
Winner! Ding, Ding Ding!!! Winner! (Winner of the most absurd post in a very long time). :S
My 06 5.4L tows like a dream, lots of HP and Torque for a medium displacement V-8 and the new 5.0 flat out kicks the 5.4's butt. Frankly I get the same or better mileage than everybody's darling, the Eccoboost but I don't get the torque, wish I could, but pulling a 5K# trailer I just don't need it. Then again I'll never spend $40K ++ for a half ton truck. :C Go ahead and Pull that 37 foot 5th wheel Big Boy.... With that Heavy duty 5.0! They did put it in the Maverick, however. Also the 78 Cobra Mustang II. It was not a Truck engine even tho it was put into pickups... Pickups with car running gear... My 6 gets 19 mpg hiway... 1987 2 wheel drive ex cab long bed. Ill pick the 6 over the 302 any day...The 302 was just a worked over 289....Ding Dong yourself Arizona...

RE: Trying not to get discouraged, but...

You can buy an Amp meter and hook it up to the batter then watch the meter.... Pull one fuse at a time and watch the meter when it goes from neg to 0.. If that don't work you can always install a blade to disconnect the battery til you have time to fix it or hey, just disconnect the negative battery cable...

RE: Trying not to get discouraged, but...

BManning,
When it comes to an electrical draw I would be hooking up an multimeter and going to town. It really won't take long once you disconnect the negative lead and hook the meter in series. Go fuse by fuse real quick and watch for a current drop. If your getting anything over 50 miliamps or .05 amps without any services turned on I would get to looking. It might only take you an hour one night after you get off work to cycle fuses. I agree, you can put a Volt meter on the battery and disconnect one fuse at a time and see when the voltage drop stops. That will lead you to the circuit the draw is in..
